    I'm kinda a year late, but I needed to ask this question. Would someone wielding a mace be allowed to choke up on the handle next to the head and punch at an enemy? I wasn't sure if that was allowed or not

    So can someone answer this question can you thrust! Because I do HEMA and we thrust the hell out each other lol no pun intended. That’s just a vital component to sword fighting to open up and attack the threaten somebody with the point.

    Very informative, this is helping a ton. Lol reenactors are not actors though, nor performing a scripted performance. You're thinking of those guys at Medieval Times and Renaissance Faires! not sure what to call them...probably just "actors"

    Totally missed the mark on the origins of the sport.

    • @KnightLife_LIVE
      @KnightLife_LIVE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wanted to focus on the sport, not the organizations. With a few minor rule changes I briefly went over, the letters of the organization doesn't matter as much. Just keep in mind this is the Basics, not the complete. There are other videos by other great fighters who will talk at length about the history of the different leagues.

    • @doblestvekov
      @doblestvekov 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KnightLife_LIVE HMB is not the league. HMBIA is the association developing Historical Medieval Battles all over the world since 2009 when the rules were united for the 1st time and accepted at the General Assembly before the 1st HMB World Championship Battle of the Nations. You really skipped a piece of story.

  • @patata3219
    @patata3219 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got a question, do you have to bring your armor and weapon to the event? Or does your league give it to you?

    • @tkraindrop2131
      @tkraindrop2131 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the location, some locations have loner armor/location armor that new members can use, however,it is best to have your own kit, preferably custom,but if you can’t afford custom there’s always used equipment on Facebook market place,

    • @KnightLife_LIVE
      @KnightLife_LIVE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would always assume you need to bring your own armor. We're swinging deadly weapons around and trusting a loaner kit can be dangerous if you haven't checked it out before hand.

    Do big guys have to nanny hit the the other smaller opponents can U hit as hard as you want can you destroy your opponent in the first 5-10 mins...which I know I am very capable after watching their pathetic hits and lack of energy almost as if they are scared to hit each other

    Is there a buhurt youth program cause I’m interested in this

  • @vlatepes1901
    @vlatepes1901 ปีที่แล้ว

    But anyways I'm looking for counsel members I plan on starting my own competition my own league the armor style won't be as strict just as long as it doesn't inflect with safety. I want people to show their personalities in their armor instead of being restricted to such style restrictions. Example Iconic 1992 Gary Oldman's dracula devil armor but would be able to have horns like that do to safety cause it can get grabbed and twisted etc.

    • @jamesbaggett7223

      Pretty sure considering the sword tips are usually rounded off and the blades are blunt

    Can I use a hammer of sorts?

    • @KnightLife_LIVE
      @KnightLife_LIVE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The closest "hammer like" object you could use in a melee would be a mace. There are specific weight and shape requirements, so if you're interested in buying one for sport use, check with your local team captain just to confirm everything's kosher before you're out $200 and you only have a cool piece to hang on the wall, lol.

  • @NBiDragonNerd

    Them finger gauntlets tho. Hope you don't wear them for melees!

    • @KnightLife_LIVE
      @KnightLife_LIVE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Going to be covered in the next video covering the weapons, but probably something that should have been added.
      And those gauntlets are only for film, lol. Got a pair of grettrs for when I step in the list.

    • @NBiDragonNerd
      @NBiDragonNerd 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KnightLife_LIVE Fantastic, cause the no stabbing bit is (in my opinion) the most important rule
      And glad to hear that. They are good gauntlets! I do wonder what the average length of time is for a finger gauntlet wearer before they break a finger is!

    Well actually you can't really speak for those that were over 100 years ago you don't know if someone actually jousted without armor do to a circumstance. The only way we know is from scripture and tapestry etc which even then may not be 100 percent truth.

    Buhurt sounds a little like butthurt. That's some problematic branding. Like calling your restaurant Crappito's or Phuk Yu.

      Try being a member of the "Society for Creative Anachronism", sounds a lot like anarchism; we were participating in a parade and the news announcers mentioned that they almost weren't going to mention or show our float on camera because they thought we were promoting anarchy. 😂

  • @a_fuckin_spacemarine7514
    @a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Rules are too strict. Maces capping at 1kg weight is utter bullshit! Also, the requirements for armour are a bit too high, it's literally more than actual medieval armour. Barring thrusts is also stupid, considering you don't allow pointy bits, and you're all super heavy armoured. And finally......I can't use my KENABO, and that's a goddamn shame!

  • @annaroberts3160

    This is just sad...grown men with anger issues and low self esteem. My bet is self promotion and over compensation centers around their lives.

    • @LordOwenLongstrider
      @LordOwenLongstrider ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't so buhurt, I do SCA Chivalric combat, armored combat but using unpadded rattan weapons instead of metal, and not quite as strict armor standards, but after over 20 years I have never once felt the need to prove my self-esteem, my masculinity, to bash someone over the head with a big sword to release my anger (I leave that for my training pell, and in the SCA you get kicked off the field if you can't control your anger), nor over-compensate for anything I lack, I simply do it for the love of engaging in medieval combat, the thrill of putting on a suit of armor, to feel the weight of it and the weight of my weapon, to look like all my favorite characters like Aragorn, Geralt, and Lancelot, to study the art of combat, and to fight against another fighter to test my skills, as well as join an army of warriors in battle against another army, as my ancestors did.
      I guess that is something you just can't understand unless you do it yourself. 🤷‍♂
