    Top tip!
    Always use the Green/ green & white pair:
    Solid Green +
    Green & white -
    Should be easy to remember with “Green” Hawk

    Enjoyed the video. Lu looked freezing. Get him a HiViz Parker jacket or something. The weep vent above the Zappi looks iffy, as do some of the others. Keep up the good work.

    Invest in a good heat gun, use it to warm up the sheathing of the cable making it easier to work with.

    Hi, is it cheaper to add the BG conser unit as you have in the video that to wire back from the internal consumer unit and have to use trunking and 5m of extra cable?? I mean, was the job classed S standard installation or was the BG unit an extra?

    Hi I am not an electrician, I would like to ask is there a reason why the live feed does not run from the consumer unit to the wall charger, thanks

    Heat shrink over the ends of the cables in charger would be a neater termination.

    Just purchased a 4 year old new build. It has an EV charger installed using 2.5mm T&A, with a 25A MCB on the consumer unit. Charger has been capped to 25A using dip switches inside the unit. When I plug my car in, as expected it’s capped at 25A which is fast enough for me. Is this OK or should I be expecting a house fire? 😅

    nice install, been looking at the outdoor ccu's from BG. 16mm tails on 100A fuse? If this is acceptable i'd be happy to do this myself I always use 25mm but they are a right pain sometimes!

    • @brad30
      @brad30 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You don't even need 16mm as it's a fixed load which will never exceed 32A hence you can use 10mm or 6mm double insulated tails. 👍

      @@jonathanstephens7804 Then the installation wouldn't be compliant with the regulations so the electrian would be at fault.

      @Brad Current Carrying capacity of cable read BS 7671 a 100 amps fuse needs at least 25 mm meter tails.

  • @CurtainFlapper

    My mains is shared, it has 2 black cables come into the house it terminates in the DNO fused head then is wired into a 2 gang isolator before going into the meter. Who would be responsible in getting the DNO to change it to a "none shared" supply? I've put of getting an electric vehicle because of the shared supply & prefer a petrol / Diesel as its easier to fuel up & I do between 50 & 150 miles daily. Therefore don't trust the range of electric vehicles so far, OK they might improve in the future. I'm just curious of who would be responsible in contacting the DNO, the electrician who fits the charge point or the garage supplying the car?

    • @GreenHawkConstructionltd
      @GreenHawkConstructionltd  ปีที่แล้ว

      This supply is not a shared supply but if it was the right action is to notify the local DNO as they will split the supply usually free when its for an EV install. It is usually down to the bill payer for this but the electrician has to notify the work after. I had a shared supply job the other day and had it confirmed by the DNO I could carry out the work before it was separated. No garage will ever get involved in the install of notification

      No. DPC is a lot lower, nearer the ground. That is a decorative feature, a corbelled course. Something that "looks nice " and possible adds a few £££ to the price of the house.

      Technically you can do this install with only membership of a competent person scheme such as NAPIT which is £420.
      That is all that is required.
