I'll be adding a mini consumer unit to my shed soon, so I am having a look at a couple of videos before I do the donkey work. You've got a lot of exposed copper in that unit. It doesn't have to be pretty, but it should be safe. I'm sure it was tidied up by your Uncle ;) and properly marked after this video was recorded.

That's correct yeah 😁 It's a while back now but I think I mentioned in the video it was pointless to do it all, but he was happy everything was in the right place, ready to be sleeved and labelled with no hassle. Glad this helped you! I really wanted Aircon but didn't have the budget.

Thanks John! After this point the earth's were all fitted with green and yellow sleeves. The neutral on that grade of SWA cable is actually not supposed/required to be marked blue. Hope this helped :)

You should have used a 100 amp DP main switch and 3 rcbo's they trip on all faults then if there is a fault only one circuit will go off if there is a fault the way you have done the job the 30 MA RCD will trip you will lose power and every MCB will go off

Hmm that's a really clever idea.
I do like the peace of mind given my expensive computer gear that everything shuts down no matter what, just so as to be sure, but I might look into that more.
      Thanks John!

What size earth goes from the armoured cable gland to the terminal bar?

2.5mm I believe. If you're in any doubt though, best to check with online resources or an electrician :)

Earth wire from gland fitted with proper crimp same size as your wire armour live and neutral

Hi there. I'm doing the same as you in my shed. I was just wandering with the 2.5mm and 1mm cables coming out of the consumer unit going to the circuits do the glands have to be water tight or snug? It's confusing me because they aren't round so how do you seal them?
