    Both your voices are very soft and soothing, which makes it extra easy to enjoy your video material. I really like the style you are using in describing a trip like this. Going to Portugal in about 6 weeks and Évora for sure is on my list now. Keep up the good work!

    Been to Évora a couple times and really love it. Beyond the sites you visited, there are some great restaurants and places to stay and day trips one can take from Évora. For example, to the villages of Alvito and Mértola.

      Yes, they were real. The bones of 5000 monks. Chilling!

    I want to travel to Elvas first, then Evora, then Setubal then Lisbon over 10-12 days.
    I also hope to see many of the places in this video.

    Became a Templar in 1969 and would like to see the artifacts representing my brotherhood and pay allegiance to our Grandmaster.

      Wow, how interesting! We would love to learn more about the Templars. We especially loved learning about them in Malta.

      I never even knew you could become a Templar. I thought it was one of those things you are born into.
      I haven’t watched the video in full - just browsing and came across. Look forward to seeing. My best friend had his wedding in Évora which sadly I could not go to.

    Os ossos não são de 5000 monges, são de pessoas do povo.

    If you enjoyed the "vibe" in Evora, then Alcobaca will steal your soul. One point of correction, the bones came from graves outside the city walls because that's where the "non-believers" were buried. If the bones had belonged to monks, they would be consegrated corpses and a sin to exhume. Bill

    • @LucasWorldTravel
      @LucasWorldTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s the information that we got from inside the chapel so I think they would know.

      Perhaps a bit of eclesiastic cleansing.

      It’s been a couple of years since I was there, but my recollection is that there was not enough space in the cemetery to bury more dead and some tragedy (in nearby Montemor?) suddenly created an urgent need to dispose of many bodies. Three monks had the idea of using bones to create the chapel, thereby solving their surplus-body problem and allowing them to create a visual representation of the illusory nature of life. The bones may have included those from a few monks, but there couldn’t possibly have been enough monks there for the whole chapel to be their bones.
