It took me so long to learn the difference between BM, BFA, & BA musical theatre programs and I didn't want you to have to share that confusion. So I created this video on the different types of musical theatre degrees/programs so you can determine which college degree is right for you! Best of luck with your prescreens and college auditions!

Which one i choose to become a singer? I'm totally confused about this. Please help me. Also i wanna study NYU.
@@nospacecoupleot7516 You can choose any of them if you would like to be a singer, but a BM program is most likely to train you more on your voice than the other two.

That’s a wonderful question! I don’t know personally but I’m sure you could find something about it if you looked up voice acting college programs.
What's the different between a musical theatre and a music theatre program?
I'm pretty sure that they are virtually the same thing but music theatre has more of an emphasis on music from what I know.

do BM’s still do acting ?
Yes! I'm in a BM program and I had an acting class both semesters last class and two very long classes this semester! There are also acting electives available too!
How do I address my Conservatory Bachelor's degree in music performance?
Could you rephrase that? I'm not quite understanding your question.
Thanx for your response 🙃 I got a degree in "Music Performance", at a Conservatory. It's a bachelor's degree, and it was ALL about music.. No theater or anything else but orchestral music. When you mentioned the conservatory you didn't say wether it should be BM, BA, BS.. 🤔 I guess it would be BM.

@@lechat5 So I guess it would depend on the type of degree you're getting at the conservatory. So usually for musical theatre conservatories, they are usually BFA or BM programs. Meaning the conservatories mostly have classes in your major and the program is rigorous, similar to what you did. They aren't usually BA programs because those are less rigorous programs that allow you more time to study something outside of your major.
Is it possible to do musical theatre and costume and design at the same time if I’m going for a BM and degree in Costume and design?
I don't think so. I go to NYU Steinhardt and I'm in a BM for musical theatre and you can double major or add a minor. I'm not sure if the rule is that you can't double major in something related to your major or if it's that you have to double major in something related. But I can find that out for you if you'd like. I'm sure other schools would allow that as well, I would try looking at liberal arts schools with BM degrees. Because I know Manhattan School of Music has a BM MT program but it's not a liberal arts school so I don't know if they would have costume design as a major at their school. Hopefully, that's helpful! Let me know if you have more questions especially if I didn't answer that completely.

@@sahamaraislas5722 Yes! I just got an answer! He said: "A minor must derive from either CAS (college of arts and sciences) or Steinhardt, but in an entirely different subject area; here is an example within Steinhardt: minor in Educational Theatre...the majors in that program are in our department"
