    when do you think is the right time to get an audition coach?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you're going to work with them consistently then I would say you should start now or at least as soon as possible. But if you're only planning on having one meeting then I would say in a month when you have a list of schools put together.

    Do you think junior year is a good time to start preparing for MT programs?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't see why not! If you have the time and want to start earlier then that can help take off some of the stress you'll experience next year because you won't have as much to do! Finding schools right now is a great idea as well because when you go to tour schools (online or in-person) you want to look at schools you're possibly going to apply to and attend. I visited 5 schools before I did much research and only ended up applying to 2 of them. You can also start looking for songs and monologues, that will really help get you ahead. You may end up changing your songs or monologues as the year goes by but then you'll have backup material! You should also keep practicing dance so you're ready for the dance calls! I have some videos that will help with that which I'll link, best of luck!!!

    One thing I've been struggling with is figuring out what to label as a safety school vs. target school vs. reach. How low does an acceptance rate need to be to be considered a safety school? How high does it need to be to be a reach? I have zero concept of this
    edit: how early should i start working on audition prep? I'm about to start my freshman year of highschool rn and I'm currently researching college options.

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This is SOO difficult to do. I feel like for musical theatre programs it's different and everything falls under two categories: safety and reach. I completely disregard the term "target school". Safety schools would be theatre programs where you don't have to audition/schools where your getting into the program is based on your academic and application to the school. The rest would be "reach schools" which sounds scary but you just have to realize that because you could get into a top 10 school and not get into one ranked much lower. So you almost have to change your mindset around it.
      As far as when to start preparing. I'd say there is such a thing as starting too early. It could be difficult to choose a song that you're still going to like in three years or one that will resonate with you or show off your voice in the same way it did when you first found it years before. So I'd recommend finding and working on songs you enjoy in general and maybe down the line you may revisit one of those for college auditions. Overall, always be practicing and taking dance classes and try to be in shows. But when you do officially start, I'd recommend beginning your college essays the summer before and finding material a little before that. Hopefully that helps!

    what’s the difference between a musical theater degree and an acting degree?

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Musical theatre includes singing, acting and dancing and acting includes acting training (sometimes it may have a little singing and/or acting but mainly acting)

    • @MadisonHalla
      @MadisonHalla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ignaciotoscano3259 It depends on if you want to do movie musicals but if you just want to do movies with only acting I would suggest a degree in acting. Specifically a degree in film acting, not theatre acting because those two are different.
