Hey! I have a question that I literally cannot find an answer to anywhere lol. Is it required that the two songs chosen for the audition be from musicals? Or can they be any song (within the confines of the description ofc)
If it’s not explicitly said you should be able to sing a song not from a musical. I would recommend a stand alone musical theatre song if you do something not from a show. However, I would recommend singing a musical theatre song/song from a musical so you can use it for all schools and since you’re applying for musical theatre programs it makes the most sense to showcase that part of your singing skill
Your videos are awsome!!!!I love it! I'm trying to watch it all but I still have one question about the prescreen singing. How can we find piano/instrument accompaniment for a song? Is it allowed/legal to play a accompaniment online for your singing? It would be so helpful if you don't mind answering my question!
Thank you so much!!! I don't think using a youtube accompaniment track for your prescreens would be illegal since you're not widely spreading the video or making money off of it (at least that's my hunch). If you want to download the audio from a youtube video you can get '4k Video Downloader' and use that. You can also then use 'iMovie' to edit down the beginning so that it doesn't have lots of black space because some accompaniment tracks do have that or they have a little music intro at the beginning. You can also add like 3 seconds of black space which is helpful if you're doing your prescreens alone so that after you press start you have a few seconds to get into your scene and get in place. You could also look online for accompanists nearby or ask your choir teacher if they know any accompanists. Then they can either play live for you as you record your prescreen or they can send you an accompaniment recording. I'd recommend having an accompanist play your music if you can because it will sound better but if that's not easily accessible or too costly then I'd say you should use the instrumentals on youtube. I don’t think I can make a video on that because it changes depending on all schools and since I’m not applying to any schools I can’t get into the admissions websites to show how to do everything. Usually you create an account for that college through their website and then turn it in there or start an application for the college through their website and turn it in. You should be able to find it if you look up the school + “Prescreen submission.” If you’re having any troubles with a school, let me know!
A lot of schools have a lot of money to give their prospective students, but the amount they give depends on your academic record and your need. Unfortunately I won't be able to make a video on the schools that give out academic scholarships or offer in state tuition because that would take an incredible amount of time to go through so many schools and I'm starting college soon so I won't have enough time to plan for that video.
