@@wonderfullymade5191 We tend to fill an emotional void with something. For some people it is drugs, sex, food, work and countless other things. Recognizing the void is the first step, talking about it out loud with others is the next step. The third step is to try something other than our chosen fix. It will most likely feel strange and unsatisfying in the beginning. But stay with and try several things until something clicks a bit. It takes about two weeks to form a new habit. Be patient with your self, the emotional void you feel is painful. 🌷
I have 4 sons. I'll consider myself a successful mother if they turn out with Trevor Noah's character traits. I want them to have his empathy, compassion, understanding, wisdom, and ability to see humor in life.
Yes, it's our greatest wish as mothers, along with being able to create something valuable out of adversity. May your wish come true for all your sons. ❤❤❤❤
Smile! I understand! However, what Trevor has accomplished, came with a price. I grew up in the south, but in a different era than my mom and dad and I still will not want to go thru the challenges of growing up to accomplish his success. We as people sometimes want what someone else has, but if we knew their trials and sacrifices made to get it, we’ll say, “Oh no, forget it. I don’t want it!” If U are a believer in Christ Jesus, pray and ask God to give all 4 of your sons those characteristics traits; and to give to U as well, if U don’t have them; but a couple of those requests are taught and learned behaviors. If U haven’t purchased his book, “Born a Crime” please do. Best wishes to U and your sons! ⭕️
@@tyfdh9 Wise. We have to be careful what we ask for. We just might get it and in ways we didn't want. I know something of that. The hand of God is mighty. I will add that we do have to remember as parents to allow our children their own challenges and hurdles to overcome, whatever they may be. We mustn't think loving them means giving them everything we didn't get or sparing them hardships of various kinds. Just be there as a guide or to help them recover, hopefully, better for the lesson. And for those reading along, I'm not talking about standing back and letting extreme things happen to our children, lest anyone go there. We are, of course, to protect our children as best as we can and when necessary, but only when appropriate to the age and developmental ability of each child. Then the question comes, "How do we do this?" Perhaps like you, I learned the discernment needed for this kind of parenting by studying and practicing biblical principles.🙌🏽 I made no important decisions that impacted my son's life without prayer and consulting the Holy Spirit. Thank you for your inspiring comment. 🙏💞 Best!
Ive only seen Trevor doing comedy but today I resonate at another level. Especially as a someone who suffered from child trauma. Loved the fact that we do not need to be grateful for what happened but for the resilience. Thank you Trevor.
It was an eye opener when Trevor said” how lonely comedians get after the show has ended”. We hold comedians and other artists in such high regards, that we sometimes don’t think about them as being lonely, ( call me naive if you must). It is so important to have close friends, that understands who you are, and you can totally be yourself with. This was a wonderful interview thank you for sharing ❤❤❤❤.
Stephen Fry spoke to this in an interview. The overwhelming emptiness after experiencing overwhelming adoration from an audience, going back alone, to an empty hotel room.
@@cal2780 yeah I've heard a few comedians talk about it. I've always been a really really really big fan of stand up comedy, like to the point that I would rather watch a stand up that I've seen a hundred times than watch anything else 😂😂😂 so of course I love to watch their interviews. Roy Wood Jr actually talked about being lonely after a live show in 2020 when a lot of the celebrities were doing the "ask me anything" highlight on IG? Roy Wood Jr decided he was going to ask the questions and post people's answers on his highlights and one of them was about being lonely after a show. I remember thinking about Robin Williams when I read Roy's highlight...
I never thought about that after the show let down. I just assumed they partied with a bunch of random people. I know alot of comedians have inner pain or a hard life they use humor to cope
What I realised is that as we evolve through time, we tend not to resonate with some parts we left in the hands of our friends. They know as differently as we know ourselves now.
What struck me was how Jay defined HOME. "Home is where I'm living my purpose" When he said that I got chills as I feel the same way but was never able to put it to words. Also being grateful for my resilience from the suffering or trauma deeply resonated with me. Thank you
I loved that Trevor said he hopes to be fertilizer to enrich the soil. I must say both Trevor and Jay have provoked many thoughts by asking the questions they have and sharing their perspectives on topics. I am grateful for this. I personally took away alot of understanding from this interview about why I myself interact in the world the way I do and how I want to proceed.
It was truly eye opening to hear what "safe" meant to Trevor and to realize that safety and what it means to be safe is so different for each person. I am a teacher, so this was very necessary for me to hear and understand as it will allow me to further reach and teach my students understanding that their primary need (to be safe) means something different to each and every one of them. Thank you for being fertilizer in my life Trevor!
I would love to hear what you have to say about integrating that into your classroom. If one child finds safety and therefore an ability to learn in chaos while their classmate finds it in solace, can you ever teach a successful lesson or are you doomed to create 2 of everything for the sake of necessary accomodation?
I have never felt more relatable to Trevor then I do now. This was such a good conversation between you two, opened a lot more avenues that I need to reflect on in my own life.
That was great.. I learned that. I don't always have to glorify or be grateful of the pain but acknowledge the resilience that I got from it. 2. Never assume 3. Like a seatbelt it's the most important thing when it comes to your safety on the road or air but when it becomes dysfunctional you can get stuck.(apply it in your life) This conversation was so profound. I love ❤️ Trevor Noah. Learnt alot for sure
Trevor is one of the smartest of our times: his piece on men and intimacy was so beautiful! Love everything he shares. This is also an incredible masterclass in vulnerability. True vulnerability doesn't mean sharing ALL life info, facts and timelines yet being artfully open enough to connect through the deepest experience we have lived. Trust is sharing of facts, little details and timelines- give that info away when you've built trust but vulnerability can be practiced with anyone and its quite a foundation for best relationships!
I loved listening to two men around my age connecting, talking, sharing, being introspective, listening, seeking to relate....I don’t see a lot of this in my personal world, and I really value it, it’s healing....to listen and feel...warm hearted, intelligent, humble, compassionate men. Loved this. Many warm wishes.
What I appreciate the most about the fruit of this conversation is how at the end of it, you’re fueled with a deep desire to look into yourself and not to necessarily lean onto one’s view or outline of life and that’s super dope… we aren’t being influenced to see life a certain way, we’re being influenced to sit with ourselves and reconcile our experiences and journeys and challenged to grow ❤️
Man, I can watch these two brilliant minds converse for 10 hours straight. Love the fact you both asking each other questions and honoring the answers. This is fantastic and so therapeutic. Need to do it again very soon. ❤
I feel the same way.I wish they have 2. Part and 3. Part The depth of this conversation was refreshing compered to other people podcast.Thank You Trevor & Jay
What a fantastic interview. I see Trevor as such a gracious, kind, open-hearted man. Jay, I see you as being just as kind and open-hearted. Beautiful to watch two open-hearted men share their souls. What has stuck with me from the podcast is much; however, Trevor shares how he views being grateful, and not being grateful for the traumatic event, but grateful for what was learned and how he grew from the experience. Wow, that is big. The term grateful and gratitude get used out of context often. I so enjoyed this special interview. Thank you.
This is one the Best if not thee best talk show or podcast I've ever Watched, so chilled and profound conversation... Salute Jay Shetty + Trevor Noah 🔥👌💯
When Jay expressed his purpose in life, I felt it. I receive from his interviews exactly what he described on this interview and I never had an idea that it was his purpose. All of those perspectives help me amplify my view of things and even shape them for better. Jay is phenomenal and this interview is great because both of them have such beautiful and optimistic views of life that I love to soak it all in.❤️❤️
I'm grateful for this conversation for many reasons, partly because I have heard Trevor say " my child"... As an African I can't wait to see Trevor Noah Jr 😍🤠
Most people can't receive love; so refreshing that Jay understands this. It can be challenging & even lonely being a deep thinker & I believe whenever we deep thinkers all scattered about the globe find another kindred spirit, even if they're on YT, TV, an author of a book, or whatever we'll feel that unspoken connection over the distance & airwaves even if it is in one direction, you know you're not alone. We truly are in a unified field.
Always been a fan of Trevor and now I am simply so happy to see and understand these views of trevor. Honestly one of the best podcasts totally loved it!
Yes Trevor, everyone should experience Poverty. I treasure what I leaned in my childhood with no food, no heat, constantly moving, changing schools. I learned valuable lessons on how to survive and Empathy. I can spot anyone on the street who is struggling. I seek to fertilize the earth and help others to have a better life. You can travel down the road in life and pass by those that have fallen, but you will be alone at the end of the road. It is better to help and pick up those along the way. At the end of the road your will have a Family. We all need each other.
I don't have enough words to describe the genuineness of this conversation between two extraordinary men of color. I see myself in both of you. Very wise, thought provoking, funny, curious, interesting, etc. I watched the entire interview - no breaks. Not even to pee 🤣. I need to watch this again and again to understand many things shared that coexist and is relatable to men of color. Awesome conversation. Very empowering as well as uplifting. 🙏
One of the best episodes yet, so grateful for this podcast. If you haven't read Trevor's book "Born a Crime" highly recommend it, especially the audio version. It's like he's sitting there telling you his life's story over coffee.
As a South African in Pretoria , I am so proud to see my dearest brother Trevor making it possible. I have always been a fan of Jay Shetty, but this interview stands out to be the best, not because I am biased because Trevor is my hommie but mostly because he always asks question and today he answers them without thinking.
What a remarkable and relatable conversation! Former elite athlete & an immigrant here. Trevor and Jay sharing about their journeys of self-discovery, multidimensionality, navigating different cultures, being unrelatable, questioning things, daring to leap into the unknown yet yearning for some stability within the core inner circle. How validating. Two individuals I have great respect for. That is the best therapy session I've had in my life. For free. Thank you, Trevor Noah for the honesty and courage. Thank you, Jay Shetty for making a hard conversation floats so well.
I would love to hear Trevor talk more about how he manages his ADHD. I'm a therapist who made assumptions about people with that diagnosis. Not good ones. Trevor has changed my perspective. He could help so many to feel better about themselves. I would never have guessed he has that diagnosis.
Me too! Because I have ADHD and its been incredibly challenging. Wish I hadn't been misdiagnosed for years and years whenever I attempted to seek help.
Deeply moved by this conversation between two beautiful, deeply contemplative human beings... makes me long for more conversations like this in my life. So much appreciation and love xx
This whole podcast with Trevor and Jay was so wholesome, the part where these guys discussed taking up the role of the "Peacemaker" and how your seatbelt can also become your trapping made me tear up at how much it was resonating with me. I also liked how they discussed the mind and that we really need to understand these concepts surrounding our minds more. But some moments like how thoughtful Trevor's answers were at the end had me feeling giddy at the same time. And the explanation of how society is designed for the 'normal' was also very eye-opening. This was phenomenal to watch.

I disagree. I never suggested a friendship and carefully evaluated the client when they asked to be friends and an appropriate amount of time had elapsed after therapy ended.I have ex clients that became my long term friends.
@@karenknowles1537 How would you handle what Trevor was talking about? Being on stage then nothing - he resorted to chocolate.. do you know what it’s called. I have the same situation.. doing great work in the community-daily-coming home to nothing - overeating. How do we overcome it?
@@wonderfullymade5191
We tend to fill an emotional void with something.
We need more nurturing mothers for our sons. That's a great intention for your boys.
wonderful words.
I don’t want it!”
If U are a believer in Christ Jesus, pray and ask God to give all 4 of your sons those characteristics traits; and to give to U as well, if U don’t have them; but a couple of those requests are taught and learned behaviors.
Best!
Ive only seen Trevor doing comedy but today I resonate at another level. Especially as a someone who suffered from child trauma. Loved the fact that we do not need to be grateful for what happened but for the resilience. Thank you Trevor.
That’s it!
Often comedians understand humanity in a way we dont.
That comfort in chaos phenomenon Trevor talks about hit deeply for me...
"Friendship is a choice"- we forget that so often. Thank you for sharing Gents. Reflecting right now on so many things. 😍
I like "Your friends in life are your horcruxes. We break ourselves into parts. Whenever we meet people, we give them a part of ourselves."
Had to look up the HP word "horcruxes" and was quite surprised what it all includes...
Felt this
My favorite part of the conversation, it literally summarizes this whole conversation and reiterates that he is truly mercurial
My favorite 💝
What I realised is that as we evolve through time, we tend not to resonate with some parts we left in the hands of our friends.
They know as differently as we know ourselves now.
most of the other videos of Jay have always felt like an interview but this one is definitely giving conversation vibes ❤
It's so enrishiñg listening to people. Who have something real to talk about.🙏
Took it from this interview Jay and Trevor sound people.
2. Never assume
3. Like a seatbelt it's the most important thing when it comes to your safety on the road or air but when it becomes dysfunctional you can get stuck.(apply it in your life)
This conversation was so profound. I love ❤️ Trevor Noah. Learnt alot for sure
I really enjoyed this conversation, Jay. Trevor you are amazing!! This conversation blow my mind. 🤯 thank you guys!!
I love that this is one of Jay's only two way conversation with a guest. This interview feels like a true collaboration
Yessss!!!!
This conversation has helped me to remember who I am at my core. It also re-inspired me, to forgive myself. Thank you both.
Omg I didn't know you were going to have Trevor on.Trevor is always a blessing. No matter what he Talks about, I could listen to him ALL DAY!
So well said! You summed up exactly how I am feeling.
Love this ❤
❤❤❤ amazing ! I just found Jay ! This combination is amazing ! Out of this world !
Trevor Noah is amazingly deep and thoughtful. Thank you Jay, for having him on. I love how he interviews Jay too. Regards from South Africa!
The humility is striking, from both Jay and Trevor. That makes this a profound conversation. Thanks for sharing with us.
I did not want this conversation to end. Thank you for this.
Man, I can watch these two brilliant minds converse for 10 hours straight. Love the fact you both asking each other questions and honoring the answers. This is fantastic and so therapeutic. Need to do it again very soon. ❤
I feel the same way.I wish they have 2. Part and 3. Part
The depth of this conversation was refreshing compered to other people podcast.Thank You Trevor & Jay
Love your phrasing, "...honoring the answers" Many have mastered the question part and have yet to get to the listening. Bravo.
Thank you.
I agree 💯!! This interview was so powerful that it brought tears to my eyes from such profound, honest, & thought provoking statements & ideas.
👌
This is one the Best if not thee best talk show or podcast I've ever Watched, so chilled and profound conversation... Salute Jay Shetty + Trevor Noah 🔥👌💯
Shows that money doesn’t have to spoil a person. Trevor’s humility is disarming. ❤
I am grateful for genuine people who can publicly admit they are not grateful for their pain and suffering. 🙏🏼 How refreshing!
When Jay expressed his purpose in life, I felt it. I receive from his interviews exactly what he described on this interview and I never had an idea that it was his purpose. All of those perspectives help me amplify my view of things and even shape them for better. Jay is phenomenal and this interview is great because both of them have such beautiful and optimistic views of life that I love to soak it all in.❤️❤️
Yes and he’s super intentional about it, it’s inspiring
Trevor Noah is so articulate man. Bro is so aware of himself and seems like such a rational person. I loved this video so much
I'm grateful for this conversation for many reasons, partly because I have heard Trevor say " my child"... As an African I can't wait to see Trevor Noah Jr 😍🤠
Lmao me too😂, when I heard that I was like oh he changed his mind now 😅
Sure!
It surprised me to hear that too !
Trevor Noah is my celebrity crush and I love listening to him talk about life❤ thank you Jay Shetty for this amazing conversation
This interview is so healing . Why am I in tears. Thank you
Very healing hey
Most people can't receive love; so refreshing that Jay understands this. It can be challenging & even lonely being a deep thinker & I believe whenever we deep thinkers all scattered about the globe find another kindred spirit, even if they're on YT, TV, an author of a book, or whatever we'll feel that unspoken connection over the distance & airwaves even if it is in one direction, you know you're not alone. We truly are in a unified field.
Trevor is so amazing to listen to. Such kindness and honesty. I love the law for everyone. What an experience that would be.
I loved how Trevor was genuinely asking Jay questions with the mindset to just know!! I loved the interview ❤️ got to learn so much from it
Always been a fan of Trevor and now I am simply so happy to see and understand these views of trevor. Honestly one of the best podcasts totally loved it!
The safer belt keeping you safe but tapping you when it’s no longer needed is a perfect explanation of trauma. Just beautiful. Great conversation.
Trevor's description of a friend and prayer was so spot on..This interview was so inspiring and insightful! Thank you both! God bless 🙌🏾
Trevor is phenomenal I love the way he process the world & his reflectiveness, wow.
🤣
One of the best episodes yet, so grateful for this podcast. If you haven't read Trevor's book "Born a Crime" highly recommend it, especially the audio version. It's like he's sitting there telling you his life's story over coffee.
Thank you for commenting this, I’ll definitely get it!
It’s on my list, I absolutely adore Trevor Noah. Will miss his nightly show.
So the audio version is Trevor's voice?
@@MomoHien Yes, Trevor narrates
This is one of the best conversations I’ve heard in a long time. I love how both were learning from each other. This really blessed me.
As a South African in Pretoria , I am so proud to see my dearest brother Trevor making it possible. I have always been a fan of Jay Shetty, but this interview stands out to be the best, not because I am biased because Trevor is my hommie but mostly because he always asks question and today he answers them without thinking.
Thanks Brian, 🙏🙏🙏♥️
There's no way you can't feel moved or uplifted after that. Amazing conversation 🙏🏾
When your two mentors seat at the same table, Its Amazing.
Yes! Thank you!
This felt more like a conversation than interview. I love it. Thank to both you Trevor and Jay🙇🏻🙇🏻
As an African, I always relate to his stories, and feel attached. We have the same mindset and view of the world. I've always appreciated this man.
This is by far the most brilliant conversation I have listened to on the internet. God bless these two men. Hats off.
"Know your sitbelt, use it to the best you could and know when to unfastened it ". What a powerful message. Thank you Jey and Trevor. I will rewatch definitely.
Thank you so much! I'm from Ukraine. The interviews you've been doing are such a beautiful therapy. This one is healing as well. 🙏
In my opinion the best and most interesting interview of the podcast ever!
Trevor never fails to amaze. He is so gifted.
You cannot buy the messages, opinions, experiences, intellectuality of the both of them in a book, movie or imagination. So genuine! Thank you gentlemen ❤🎉
How validating. Two individuals I have great respect for. I’m not grateful for being molested by father during adolescence and then pretend to the entire family that he was a good man, or abused by my narcissistic mother all my life. I am thankful that the gift of finding my voice in poetry has helped me shed most of the pain.
“Claiming your Choices

I wouldn’t trash a dear friend
as I attack my faults built on shifting sands.
Moods change
As the winds

Tornados
Hurricanes
Crying tears In shadowed twilight,
I must find the calm of the eye
To forgive my trampled cripple discerning light.
Come to me child
Come to me now
Rise from your hidden trauma
To my safe arms
I’ll wrap securely around
I’m your adult,

I claim your power of attorney
To protect you from yourself
On your healing journey
To play your beat me up song

It belongs to your dead parents long gone.
Your song is
“Dawn of the Age of Aquarius”
Dropping envy of others through the lens of vicarious.
Where forgiveness blooms around your splendor
Never will fear make you surrender.
The Dawn is your friend
The Evening, calming respite
Now lay your head on my shoulders
Safely I’ll guide you inner child
Through every day and every night. “

I used to be a fan to Trevor Noah as a comedian, but now I am amazed also by the other side of his personality as a person, this interview is on a very different level, thank you for sharing
“I try my best to eliminate GOOD or BAD”, that was powerful
Jay is a master communicator. I want to learn to communicate like this. I can listen to Trevor for hours. ❤
One's success in managing ADHD is greatly influenced by one's emotional maturity and mental development.
You are therapist yet make negative assumption’s about people’s struggles lol.Did you study therapy to help people or for the money ?
Deeply moved by this conversation between two beautiful, deeply contemplative human beings... makes me long for more conversations like this in my life. So much appreciation and love xx
I really enjoyed this conversation. So mindful and full of life. Thank you Jay
I am nothing but greatful for having the opportunity to listen to this conversation. Between these 1 and a half hours , i paused , journaled , cried , questioned and reasoned, and now I feel it's just a podcast, isn't it? but what a podcast ! I counldn't have had a better first january. Thankyou.
