Hmmm. I'm guessing you are not exactly the target demographic for this camera. No, not a great camera for Vlogging, but an excellent upgrade to the Ursa Mini 4.6 for film makers and possibly ENG shooters. You didn't mention the other features like the recording media options and the inclusion of in camera ND filters is a HUGE improvement. Really this camera is all about the RAW support. It would have been nice to include some RAW sample footage to show the dynamic range. The support for multiple lens mounts is great too, it means that you can use pro grade cinema glass, and shoot RAW with the ergonomics of an ENG camera.

Um, sure you do see the dynamic range, even in the test-shots he did. Look how the Ursa conserves details in bright and shadow areas, while both blow out on the DSLR-footage.

depends on your kind of shooting you do. if you do more production creative work. The Ursa Mini Pro is the clear winner. there's no camera that offers the creative flexibility it has at the price it's at.
if you do more prosumer, one man band the a6500 is probably the one to go to due its superior low light capabilities of both cameras.
If you do more vlogging style filming then go with the GH5

Very offensive and ignorant "review". Loved the "selfie" part as it just fortifies the overall tone of this miserable intended hatchet job. It was also really informative to NOT hear anything about recording formats, recording media, lens mount options, power options, optional SSD recorder, possible moire issues some users mentioned, rigging options and accessories, pretty much anything at all that a potential user might find useful. You are the definition of vacuous "content". I want my 9 minutes of life back.

Thanks Kai, Funny but it's about the same size as an old Betacam.
Also Kai, it looks like whoever did the grading came up a bit short on getting the best out of the image. It takes some time or a crash course to understand how to understand the workflow, but once you do you can't beat the Blackmgic image, otherwise it can look inferior to DSLR footage.
ummm Kai....I'm kind disappointed that you used the setting that a 500 dollar for has on a 6000 dollars camera to show how good it is. I mean come on...I'm here to see how the raw looks and if the dyanim range is comparable to arri or red cameras. that looked so similar to you felt that your friend was using to film you. this is not a great representation of what this camera is able to do bro. I really wanted to see if its worth it getting this over the normal ursa mini 4.6k but if I judge from what you shiwed it looks like shit compared to that.
I think you should make another video testing it and comparing it...like low light and sharpness and color science.

Roozbeh Peykari it's the same camera buddy. If you like having buttons at your fingertips, internal ND filters, and interchangeable mounts and you don't mind a slightly worse and smaller display, then this camera is for you. But it won't give you a better or worse image. Same sensor, same processing, same everything inside basically

They shoot on a C300 mk II now. Before it was mostly shot on a 5D

Finally a low-cost cine camera with REAL buttons, switches and an internal ND filter. This will be weird to those who have not used professional film/video gear before, but this is the first camera that comes close to usability of the Sony F-55 with rugged metal buttons and a front ND gearwheel. Good review

Is that Canon glass? I think the future of Canon in photography lays in their glass. They should start thinking about making converters like metabones to other platforms (especially E mount) if they want to survive. I don't know about Nikon tho.. they will be wiped out soon if they don't rethink their technology..

to slow on start up Black Magic needs to buy auto focus license from canon to make the cameras better
U can also optionally but the battery brick in you backpack and run a p-tap to xml cable up to the camera or use a battery belt as well.

Nice review ... Kai is a character ... any thoughts on what could be added to this camera apart from SSD recording and will the Atomos Inferno record out from the SDI?
Dean Harrington BMD doesn't send a signal the Atomos recognizes, unfortunately.
Footage are terrible, sometimes green, sometimes red, just a question, did you do white & black balance before start shooting?? or just turn on and shoot.

Are you using the cheapo Canon EF-S STM on there? Looks like an 18-135mm but I might be wrong. Images are darn filmic even on youtube.

Great camera with only 2 things let it down I can see. 1600 max ISO and 60fps max FPS.
