    Probably the most thorough ursa mini review I have seen so far. Man ! You sure you ain't a pro ? Wish you did a BMPC vs URSA mini 4k since you owned both of them !

    Solid, most comprehensive thing I've seen on the Ursa Mini. I was really hoping the would have addressed the light sensitivity. I was really excited for this camera but with the delays I jumped on the a7s + assassin bandwagon. But I agree- when the job calls for it- the Ursa has been a great camera and it looks like the Ursa mini is a great compliment to the line.
    Loved the breakdown of time stamps too.
    Legit video.
    Thanks for your hard work!

    Great review. Would you say paying an additional 2K for the Ursa Mini 4.6K is worth it? im thinking about buying one but the lack of ISO really concerns me even though I would "Mostly" use it in studio settings, and considering the Noise issue, is there a better camera for around the same price, if good iso is important to you.? Thanks!

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - I do think the $2K is worth it for the 4.6K version (it has double the ISO and 3 more stops of range), however Blackmagic has had serious issues with "magenta vignetting" on the 4.6k version.
      They've begun to address it with firmware updates, but I'm personally waiting to see consistently clean images from multiple cameras before I buy mine.

    the ursa mini 4K comes at a great price but it has a lot of problems especially the iso. the 4.6K seems to have fixed most of these issues but the price tag is much much higher and makes it on the verge of affordable for the budget user (you have to spend a few more thousand $ for batteries, mounts, media, lens...)

    Thanks for the awesome vid FrameFury. Im looking at grabbing the 4.6k soon and wanted to know what lenses you would recommend for shooting "sports style" Player Interviews and live sports desks/panels.

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man - it's hard to go wrong with the Sigma Art line. Great performance for the price. I'd recommend the 24mm f1.4 prime for wide stuff (and to cover yourself in low light situations) and then check out the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 zoom that's coming out very soon. If you need fast lenses at higher focal lengths, the other f1.4 primes are great.

    Great review, thanks! Just got my URSA mini :)
    One question: Why do you record in RAW, convert it in Davinci, to edit in Premiere? Why not shoot in ProRes in the first place?

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks - you get the absolute best image quality with RAW, and then have the most control/latitude to grade RAW in Resolve. I would only do it for specialized projects though - most people will probably be happy with ProRes LT, HQ, or 444.

    Do you think that the low-light abilities of the URSA Mini 4k will improve with the firmware updates?

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlo Guillermo Proto I believe the best they can do is improve the noise at ISO800, but even after the latest update (3.1) I'm still seeing plenty of noise and FPN at ISO800 unfortunately. I only shoot at ISO400 no matter what.

    • @mopkrayz
      @mopkrayz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlo Guillermo Proto only way they fixed is was to make the 4.6K!

    Any idea if they've updated any of the issues with firmware updates yet? Specifically wondering about the issues at 800 ISO, but would like to hear if you know that anything else is worked out.

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Firmware 4.0 was a massive update to the UI and options and I give it a 5/5 stars - they addressed many of the interface issues I discussed in this video. I haven't done any noise testing yet though.

    So has any of the updates fix some of the issues you have had with this camera??

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, absolutely. Firmware 4.0 was a massive improvement. It added so much functionality that was missing when I filmed this review, and it also improved the color science and appears to have fixed the glitches. I'd do an updated review, but it has been done by so many others already, I'll prob just focus on comparing to the 4.6K.

    Great review!!
    I have a question. I recently bought the ursa mini 4k EF. From the start i noticed that my monitor histogram jittered
    from right to left without the light levels changing in the room. In premiere pro i saw that the recorded video had
    flashing shadows. Does your Ursa mini 4k have the same histogram issue and do you think it is sensor problem.
    The flashing occurs at all ISO levels and video output settings. I also want to note this was under natural lighting conditions
    and at shutter angle 180. No fluorescent light was used.

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Verijke Thomas thx! Mine hasn't had any flashing issues in the darks, or moving histogram. I've heard someone else mention this and they dealt with it by crushing the darks. That issue sounds frustrating. Hopefully addressed in recent firmware update!

    Can you use a IR cut filter and a ND filter on the same lens? If so, how to they attach together? Does the IR filter have a thread for the lens and to attach the ND filter to it?

    • @Framefury
      @Framefury  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can stack filters as long as they are "stackable" ;). Just double check that the ones you're buying are stackable. I have links in my description to such ones.

    I Like your Video but just in the First Minute you already said that the camera needs a Lot of light and fast lenses. These aren't 2 facts but only a solution for letting in more light.
    And every camera needs an external Audio source. If you buy a Cinema camera for auch few thousand i hope you ain't gonna go with internal mic.
    In My opinion Cameras don't need to have a good internal mics. But the camera has great possibilities for internal Audio Recording.
