Your content is just consistently out of this world amazing!! Also, I know that many consider Qatar Airways to be a good airline, but there is just something super special about EK to me. The only airline that I believe could have equaled or even bettered EK, was Garuda when they offered First Class on their flights from Jakarta to Amsterdam!! That was truly incredible! In today's environment, however, no airline can touch Emirates' First Class service.

Great video. Just at the right time too. In July I'll be traveling to Manila on Emirates. Business class going and First class on my return leg. I'm excited but abit apprehensive as its the Boeing 777 and I understand that they contain slightly dated business and First class products. Nevertheless, I'm going to enjoy it especially after watching how well you were fed .
It’s sometimes dated for their own product, depending on the aircraft registration you’ll know what to expect. But compared to other products out there even the older FC is stunning! I trust you’ll have a great flight. Make the most out of it!

Hey Dr, thanks! Keep in mind this is just a short flight. Expect far more on your flight from MAN. Make sure to leave some space in the stomach so you can try a bit of everything, specially the caviar. I also recommend asking for the edamame as a snack from the “movie snack” menu. You’ll get more toiletries then I did, including the sleeping suit. Have a very nice flight and make each minute count!
That is pretty cool that they operate their own lounges away from their home airport. That makes a huge difference. Wow I could have eaten just the Arabic mezze but I would have also got the red curry snapper. How was the 40 year port? Totally agree much better experience than QR first class that you had for sure. Emirates First class is on the bucket list till then your videos will do my friend.
I think they’ve got over 40 around the world and it’s a a great perk indeed! And yes, lots of room in the suite, but wait until you see the new game changer First Class!

Alex is the best ! Everyone can learn about details about aviation, how the plane works and watch the full experience of the flight. His videos are very helpful and his attention to detail is awesome. I like that he is always very kind with the crew. You should take long hauls to South America Alex to test the airlines over here! That would be great.
Flip, you made my day! And for such nice things coming from an ex-KLM pilot make the little boy in me come out. KLM pilots gave me the best memories when I was a kid, and my passion for aviation largely came from them. I was asked if I wished to take off & land in the cockpit many times on usual shuttles between Amsterdam & Barcelona. There I would go ask many questions and learn about all sorts of things, from reverse thrust usage to the B737’s iconic engines. I mostly flew on B737-300/400’s, but even the B737-800/900 (back then very new) and once on the B767-300ER. I’ll never forget! Thinking out loud.. But thanks for the great comments! You do deserve that First Class upgrade, it should be quite a lot of Skywards miles though, I hope you’ve got enough laying around! I think it should be close to 6 digits what you need! The further back you are on a plane the noisy it generally is because of the planes engines. The further front you are the quieter it is hence why premium classes are more towards the front of the aircraft. It is nice to be able to see the wings when in flight but personally I prefer being in peace and just hearing the air as the plane whisks through the sky. Nice video. 👍
After your last first class flight on Qatar, this is like night and day, the only thing "first class" about that flight was the price. The Emirates service both on the ground and the in the air is truly first class, they realise it's not just about the seat, but the experience. That mezze would have done me for the entire flight, I was feeling full just looking at it, and the wine selection ... yum 🥂 Did you manage to throw a new "first class throw rug" into your carry-on? 😂 Wonderful review. Very nice video! I'll take the same flight in March (seat 1A). I'll go directly to the crew, to book the "spa", to be sure to enjoy some minutes in the shower 🚿👻.
Great vid. Def a unique experience. I wonder how much longer first class seating will remain in the airline industry….looks like business class suites will be standard going forward .
First Class will hang out. It works and it is full. All my recent flights in First have all been full. No matter how good Business Class becomes, a Qsuite isn’t First Class. And some people are willing to pay for the extra’s in First. You can see how Lufthansa recently updated their First Class to something spectacular. It will continue to exist!
I requested them on this short flight. But they’re awaiting in your suite on the +4 hour flights. Always ask in case of doubt. I’m quite confident they’re available on all A380 flights.

I never know what airline I’m doing next as it all depends on the time that I have available. If it’s little time then I choose an easy short video. If I’ve got some time I’ll take something longer. Next up is MEA to Beirut on the A321neo by the way! 😊
Love the Chinese subtitles in the end! I think this must be the cheapest flight to experience a full first class experience, there are other flights of this distance operated by airplanes equipped with first class but I don't think first class service is offered on those flights
You would be surprised that I’ve actually found much better fare hacks around the world in First Class! I once went with Etihad BRU-AUH in Business, AUH-SYD in First for like 400 Euro. It was a fare mistake, but that’s not my problem!
@@TheLayoverAviation Yep that's another way to do it:) Sadly I'm not lucky enough to find one of those tickets that I can utilize, and you always have to be concerned if the airline is gonna honor the mistaken fare. It doesn't hurt to try though
EK First class on this route is a bargain as they charge between 1000usd to 1300 usd pending if you depart from BKK or HKG. I’ve done it a few times myself mostly in business as their flight back to BKK leaves around 2130LT so I can just head to the airport straight from work. Another reason why the price is relatively low because pre-Covid numerous airlines fly this route, mainly CI, ET, RJ, MS along with CX TG and HX operating numerous flights. Some of those business class seats sell for 2000hkd round trip which is roughly 200-300 USD! Why fly economy when you can pay a little bit more for the premium 😂
Hi Alex, thank you for a fabulous Emirates first-class trip report. Do I understand correctly that Emirates does not serve caviar First on short flights? And is it true that Emirates offers unlimited black caviar on long flights in First?
Always a pleasure Andrew! Yes, that is correct, no caviar on flights under 4-5 hours. But I get it, it does take time to plate and also keep in mind that it is a huge logistical issue to get that much of caviar moving on 100’s of daily flights. Unlimited caviar on long flights, yes! The portion they serve by default is a double. I only order it once per flight, but if I want to go nuts I might ask if they can throw a scoop on my omelette in the morning 😉
For thumbnails I use Canva and I also imported some fonts to VN, you can do that. Google how to. It takes some time to get used to it.. Today I’m actually purchasing a new editor and going to try it out..

It’s one of the oldest A380’s flying around still I find it quite updated. The newer planes have newer tablets, larger and more responsive. I hope to show it on the channel soon!
Thanks a lot!! How long it takes depends on the airline and aircraft, and the men power they’re willing to pay for. You’ll notice how most EK A380’s are turned around in 2 hours or so. I would say 20 minutes to disembark, 45 to board, the rest for the ground duties such as cleaning and catering. It all depends!
@@TheLayoverAviation i meant in the A320/330/340 glass cockpit. Cockpits from 1990s has round edged glass screens, but those from 2000s have sharp-edged glass displays. Any idea when this change happened??

They will allow it, and there is time, but I took a shower in the lounge instead so that I could enjoy on board full time! I take a shower on longer flights though.

Been flying since i was born. But things changed in 2017 when i was flying from Adelaide to Dubai late evening in Emirates. The entire flight was turbulent, the pilot did not turn off the seat belt sign for the entire 14 hrs nearly....i dont know what plane that was ... but it just instilled a fear in me so bad that every flight i took after that i jst wasnt able to get rid of the fear of turbulence and crashing... 😢😢😢.... to the point that ive stopped flying ... missed out on so many great holidays i couldve had... I admire all your videos and one day dream of being able to fly as peacefully as i see you flying and enjoying the flight... I wish i had never flown in 2017.... :( Have u had turbulent flight experiences? Did it create fear in you?
Maybe he forgot to turn off the seatbelt sign? 14 hours long on is excessive. Maybe just out of caution.. So that flight from Adelaide crosses the equator and many jet-streams, and at certain periods of the year it can get very windy and bumpy indeed. It just happens. But I can assure you that no aircraft has ever had an accident because of turbulence! Taking an Uber or bus is 1000 times more dangerous! And no, I’ve never ever had fear on planes! I fully trust the process. And yes, I’ve had very bad turbulence and even some mechanical problems. But it’s multi million dollar machines with excellent professionals working on them. I hope you get to enjoy aviation again!

It wasn't a A380 though... cause a year after I flew from Melbourne to Singapore on A380 and it made a world of a difference... even the turbulence didn't feel as bad... But was that Maalaysian aircraft a A380? And that small PIA plane that crashed on 7th Dec 2016 was shocking too.... but thanks Alex.! .. I appreciate your reply...keep posting awesome videos...for now I would be enjoying flights through your videos...until I built the courage to fly again.
Emirates offers a better first class. Agree. Never tried it though. But business Qatar is way ahead in my opionion. Only thing i miss with Qatar in business is transportation within is it 50 miles to airport. Oh well small "problems"
I really don’t QR’s Business Class, but it depends on which one.. Because it ranges from recliner seats without IFE to the Qsuite.. On EK I know what I’m going to get and I just love the bar ❤️ But QR is way more affordable.. So it really depends for me!
@The Layover Aviation well thats true with qatar. But if you are little smart you know what look for and not book the old Cabin. The bar is only on the 380. Same as qatar. Take the 777 emirates business. That is trash too as the old qatars...I mean some objectivity please

KLM pilots gave me the best memories when I was a kid, and my passion for aviation largely came from them. I was asked if I wished to take off & land in the cockpit many times on usual shuttles between Amsterdam & Barcelona. There I would go ask many questions and learn about all sorts of things, from reverse thrust usage to the B737’s iconic engines.
I mostly flew on B737-300/400’s, but even the B737-800/900 (back then very new) and once on the B767-300ER. I’ll never forget!
Thinking out loud.. But thanks for the great comments! You do deserve that First Class upgrade, it should be quite a lot of Skywards miles though, I hope you’ve got enough laying around! I think it should be close to 6 digits what you need!

Not a problem.
The further back you are on a plane the noisy it generally is because of the planes engines. The further front you are the quieter it is hence why premium classes are more towards the front of the aircraft. It is nice to be able to see the wings when in flight but personally I prefer being in peace and just hearing the air as the plane whisks through the sky. Nice video. 👍
After your last first class flight on Qatar, this is like night and day, the only thing "first class" about that flight was the price. The Emirates service both on the ground and the in the air is truly first class, they realise it's not just about the seat, but the experience. That mezze would have done me for the entire flight, I was feeling full just looking at it, and the wine selection ... yum 🥂 Did you manage to throw a new "first class throw rug" into your carry-on? 😂 Wonderful review. Looking forward to your next flight. 🥃🥃🥃

Great vid. Def a unique experience. I wonder how much longer first class seating will remain in the airline industry….looks like business class suites will be standard going forward .
First Class will hang out. It works and it is full. All my recent flights in First have all been full.
No matter how good Business Class becomes, a Qsuite isn’t First Class. And some people are willing to pay for the extra’s in First. You can see how Lufthansa recently updated their First Class to something spectacular.

I never know what airline I’m doing next as it all depends on the time that I have available. If it’s little time then I choose an easy short video. If I’ve got some time I’ll take something longer.

Love the Chinese subtitles in the end! I think this must be the cheapest flight to experience a full first class experience, there are other flights of this distance operated by airplanes equipped with first class but I don't think first class service is offered on those flights
You would be surprised that I’ve actually found much better fare hacks around the world in First Class! I once went with Etihad BRU-AUH in Business, AUH-SYD in First for like 400 Euro. It was a fare mistake, but that’s not my problem!
@@TheLayoverAviation Yep that's another way to do it:) Sadly I'm not lucky enough to find one of those tickets that I can utilize, and you always have to be concerned if the airline is gonna honor the mistaken fare. It doesn't hurt to try though
EK First class on this route is a bargain as they charge between 1000usd to 1300 usd pending if you depart from BKK or HKG. I’ve done it a few times myself mostly in business as their flight back to BKK leaves around 2130LT so I can just head to the airport straight from work.
Another reason why the price is relatively low because pre-Covid numerous airlines fly this route, mainly CI, ET, RJ, MS along with CX TG and HX operating numerous flights. Some of those business class seats sell for 2000hkd round trip which is roughly 200-300 USD! Why fly economy when you can pay a little bit more for the premium 😂

Hi Alex, thank you for a fabulous Emirates first-class trip report. Do I understand correctly that Emirates does not serve caviar First on short flights? And is it true that Emirates offers unlimited black caviar on long flights in First?
Always a pleasure Andrew! Yes, that is correct, no caviar on flights under 4-5 hours. But I get it, it does take time to plate and also keep in mind that it is a huge logistical issue to get that much of caviar moving on 100’s of daily flights.
Unlimited caviar on long flights, yes! The portion they serve by default is a double.
I only order it once per flight, but if I want to go nuts I might ask if they can throw a scoop on my omelette in the morning 😉

Thanks a lot!! How long it takes depends on the airline and aircraft, and the men power they’re willing to pay for. You’ll notice how most EK A380’s are turned around in 2 hours or so. I would say 20 minutes to disembark, 45 to board, the rest for the ground duties such as cleaning and catering.

Do you when did Airbus introduce the sharp-edged cockpit displays versus the round-edged cockpit displays on its aircraft?
With the introduction of the A320 in 1989 if I’m not mistaken, I believe..
@@TheLayoverAviation i meant in the A320/330/340 glass cockpit. Cockpits from 1990s has round edged glass screens, but those from 2000s have sharp-edged glass displays. Any idea when this change happened??

They will allow it, and there is time, but I took a shower in the lounge instead so that I could enjoy on board full time!
I take a shower on longer flights though.

Yes it is! A very cool one.
Been flying since i was born. But things changed in 2017 when i was flying from Adelaide to Dubai late evening in Emirates. The entire flight was turbulent, the pilot did not turn off the seat belt sign for the entire 14 hrs nearly....i dont know what plane that was ... but it just instilled a fear in me so bad that every flight i took after that i jst wasnt able to get rid of the fear of turbulence and crashing... 😢😢😢.... to the point that ive stopped flying ... missed out on so many great holidays i couldve had...
I admire all your videos and one day dream of being able to fly as peacefully as i see you flying and enjoying the flight...

So that flight from Adelaide crosses the equator and many jet-streams, and at certain periods of the year it can get very windy and bumpy indeed. It just happens. But I can assure you that no aircraft has ever had an accident because of turbulence! Taking an Uber or bus is 1000 times more dangerous!
And no, I’ve never ever had fear on planes! I fully trust the process. And yes, I’ve had very bad turbulence and even some mechanical problems. But it’s multi million dollar machines with excellent professionals working on them.

@TheLayoverEatFly never thought of that... he shouldn't have forgotten..made my life fairly miserable... yes I guess that path can get bumpy...it was pretty bumpy that 🌙.... It wasn't a A380 though... cause a year after I flew from Melbourne to Singapore on A380 and it made a world of a difference... even the turbulence didn't feel as bad...
But was that Maalaysian aircraft a A380? And that small PIA plane that crashed on 7th Dec 2016 was shocking too....

The middle suites actually have a hidden latch where to attach a bassinet. There were 2 babies on our flight! So it is possible.

Emirates offers a better first class. Agree. Never tried it though. But business Qatar is way ahead in my opionion. Only thing i miss with Qatar in business is transportation within is it 50 miles to airport. Oh well small "problems"
I really don’t QR’s Business Class, but it depends on which one.. Because it ranges from recliner seats without IFE to the Qsuite.. On EK I know what I’m going to get and I just love the bar ❤️
But QR is way more affordable.. So it really depends for me!
