I’ve had the privilege to fly this route 15 times and it was always a memorable flight, never delayed or a mechanical issue, I never wanted to get off the plane
Thank you for this most excellent report. Just looking at all the food on Emirates made me both hungry and full at the same time. While I understand that the partnership between UA and EK is beneficial to both companies, it must be quite a shock to connect from an EK flight to a UA flight, or vice-versa. The differences between each carrier's product is like night and day!!
I flew on A6-EUS in 2021 from Heathrow to Dubai 😀 Then A6-EVI from DXB to IAD in business class. What a phenomenal experience, from lounge and priority boarding to the funky cocktails and inflight experience. This video nostalgically reminds me of that amazing flight.
A6-EVI still is an upgrade though as it has the latest lounge, I would prefer that one! I hope you get to try it again, it’s indeed a whole experience and I’m glad you had a little flash from the past! Happy flights!
Emirates sets the bar that others follow. I's still in the first tier of Skywards but once I get to higher levels, I'd love to try a long haul flight in business class. Just once.
Buddy, once you get to higher tiers and become a frequent flier you’ll notice how flights and perks just become cheaper or free.. It’s like a whole world of stuff that I wonder why others are not aware.. I’m top tier at some airlines and feel I get special offers others don’t get and the miles just accumulate so I just use it on upgrades or free tickets. So very much worth it!

@@TheLayoverAviation Thanks for the wishes, Alex. The closest I ever got to experiencing that opulence was on a flight from DXB to HKG on the A380, 12 years ago. Economy, where I was seated, had a 60 percent occupancy so it was really pleasant. Before disembarking the purser took me on a tour of the upper deck. The A380 was a fairly new head-turning aircraft then. We've gotten used to its presence but are still blown away by the quality of the product, particularly on Emirates!
I love them, specially on the A380 upper deck as I can walk and stretch out while having a drink and chatting to the crew, so I agree! I got so bored on other airline +14 hour flights!
Really nice review. The whole cabin looks a bit tired, but they still manage to put together an amazing service, you just can't beat it. Look forward to seeing what they do with those new A350s and 777x! I flew DXB-JFK in PE (similar flight time) last month, and have to say, I really like the concept of having a light meal after takeoff, then the main service later in the flight. I haven't really seen other airlines do that, and it's a great idea... no-one wants a full meal that early in the morning!
I saw your flight in EK’s PY, loved it! It’s a solid product. And yes, the light snack after take off is much better. Most people have connected and had dinner on the previous flight or had a snack in the lounge. I reckon that if I was not filming I would have gone straight to bed, like most others. Looking forward to your next flight!

This is a great video for food choices that Emirates serves, but not for a avid air traveler who likes the view. I know it was night time so I will watch another of your videos to make a comparison. Nice quiet plane though. I love the A380. May they keep flying for a long time.
Regarding the view, that’s true.. The flights departing Dubai to the US at 8am have daylight all the way.. But no IAD flight at that time. There is other video’s on this channel about a similar experience, I hope you enjoy!

If I watch the Lord of the Rings I would have fallen asleep before the light snack was served. See, I tried so many times to watch it as I know it’s a master piece but I never go past the Mountains of Moria bit, the snowed up ones. I always pass out as it’s a movie that makes me notoriously sleepy.. But hey, now you have a plan on your next flight!

I was blown away with your Business Class Service. I have done Air Canada Business Class many times and never got anything like Emirates!!!. As long as I get my lie flat bed and a cup of coffee somewhere in the flight I am happy, although to be fair I only usually travel to LHR or Dublin (Ireland) so its much shorter than your flights. The Air Canada Business Class is good, the meals and wine etc and are served nicely but yours was outstanding. I look forward to seeing more. Plus the Upper Lounge on Emirates. It was superb from start to finish. I hope that your week is good.
I usually go with Emirates a380 first class when I fly to NYC from Dubai. It's one of the best airlines in the industry. If you ever get a chance to fly FC, do it. Showering at 40k ft is a unique experience.

It’s a good product but there are things I miss. PJ’s (like on EVA Air, Virgin Atlantic, Qantas, Qatar Airways,…) and dine on demand (like on Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways,…) and also there is the risk of ending up on B777 BC which is not nice at all.

That’s some A380. I’ve seen parts of it on another “Trip Report” channel. I think the A380 is more like a building in the sky due to the bar & how spacious it is in some areas. Another cool thing is, Dubai & the US’s East coast have a 8 hour time difference.
And even more of a difference with the west. It’s hard for most to return to a normal routine but I’ve got it mastered by now 😃 The A380 is a flying city.. the logistics behind every single flight are just mind blowing.. And all the stories behind each of those individuals that are there ensuring a safe operation. I wish I could make a video about that some day soon!
I have been flying for emirates for a Long time and it never disappoints very good vid so far I’ve only been on 777 business but this year I going on a a830 business to Bali. Keep up the good work❤
You are lucky Layover Aviator to go Business Class. I was going on a holiday from LHR TO SEZ ON EMERARTES A380. It was superb and comfortable on Economy class, then the Boeing 777 was not nice on that part of the journey,
Sorry you did not have a great experience on the B777.. The A380 is better in every way! And I doubt it will fly to SEZ anytime.. I wish you many more happy journeys!
Check out some exterior pictures and you’ll see how cool! The outer engines, due to the massive wingspan, could be located close to the runway edges thus suck in sand/grass/other objects and do lots of damage! Thanks for watching! 🙏
I am sure that Emirates has got a plan up their sleeve that we are unaware of.. I don’t think the A380 will just retire and that’s the end of this great product. Something better must be planning up..

Hey Ali! Thanks for being here. It is amazing indeed even though it isn’t the newest one in the A380 fleet. The A380’s don’t have the fully enclosed suites, I don’t think it fits? Only select B777-300ER’s so far. I’ll publish a video on that one soon!
3:40 tbf they might aswell leave them in the takeoff position if they're gonna be off the ground a lot otherwise they would have to put them back out again everytime
It is important to have a routine and be consistent as a pilot. The flaps are a one off procedure on the hot days and pilots have to remember. But yes, your words do have some logic!

Dunno if the 777s are fitted with a better business class now. Just saw Josh Cahill's video on the EK business class on those and it is indeed not great with that annoying middle seat. I do wanna fly EK though. Miss those days living in Dubai. Will be heading this November to spend some time in Dubai at home with BA staff travel from LHR. :D Btw on the text below, are you a pilot or with an aerospace engineering background? One quick question: the menu on board does not seem to have vegetarian options, does one get a different menu for that or do you have to make a special meal request as you do when flying economy?
I recently flew EK A380 from DUS to DXB and I have 2 questions, and I think you would probably be able to answer them given your vast knowledge and experience with EK 1. Is there any difference in efficiency between A380s with the rolls royce engines vs the engine alliance one? (I think engine alliance should be better as it is based on the Genx) 2. Why does EK IFE not have subtitles for its english content? its a borderline dealbreaker as I was struggling to understand the lines over and above the noise of the air conditioning and the engine. One small problem I had in economy on the a380 is that the nature of the floor layout results in the wall being too far to provide support to sleep on....well atleast the seats are wide and with lots of legroom! Nice video as always with many details!
The general thought I've seen on EA engines vs. RR, is EA are slightly more efficient (1.3%) The RR engines didn't meet spec on introduction and RR had to make 3 upgrades to it's engines to meet spec. The 1.3% for EA is after these upgrades. EK was a bit miffed with RR after the order since they didn't get another further upgrade. EK does have subtitles in it's IFE. It's a setting you have to change with it to get the subtitles. Default is no subtitles. Next time ask a FA and they should help you change it.
That is the most food on an airplane I have ever seen. The whole experience looks unbeatable.
And there was so much more that I didn’t accept or eat.. So yes, tons of food!
I have tried both Buisness and First Products on the Emirates A380 and I can say they are amazing

The A380 is a flying city.. the logistics behind every single flight are just mind blowing.. And all the stories behind each of those individuals that are there ensuring a safe operation. I wish I could make a video about that some day soon!

You are lucky Layover Aviator to go Business Class. I was going on a holiday from LHR TO SEZ ON EMERARTES A380. It was superb and comfortable on Economy class, then the Boeing 777 was not nice on that part of the journey,
Sorry you did not have a great experience on the B777.. The A380 is better in every way! And I doubt it will fly to SEZ anytime..

The outer engines, due to the massive wingspan, could be located close to the runway edges thus suck in sand/grass/other objects and do lots of damage!

I am sure that Emirates has got a plan up their sleeve that we are unaware of.. I don’t think the A380 will just retire and that’s the end of this great product. Something better must be planning up..

another great vlog Alex, I came as soon as I saw the notification. Emirates business class is just amazing. Even their new economy class in the new champagne colour is nice but I don’t think they have that or the first class ground it ceiling suite yet?

It is amazing indeed even though it isn’t the newest one in the A380 fleet.
The A380’s don’t have the fully enclosed suites, I don’t think it fits? Only select B777-300ER’s so far. I’ll publish a video on that one soon!

3:40 tbf they might aswell leave them in the takeoff position if they're gonna be off the ground a lot otherwise they would have to put them back out again everytime
It is important to have a routine and be consistent as a pilot. The flaps are a one off procedure on the hot days and pilots have to remember. But yes, your words do have some logic!

Another beautiful inflight review. Emirates serves a lot of food in business class, in economy it is much less.
In Business there is more choice, but even in Economy I feel like there is too much.. 3 meals on this flight and I couldn’t even finish those.. You’ll be able to find a video on this channel on a flight to San Fran!

Dunno if the 777s are fitted with a better business class now. Just saw Josh Cahill's video on the EK business class on those and it is indeed not great with that annoying middle seat. I do wanna fly EK though. Miss those days living in Dubai. Will be heading this November to spend some time in Dubai at home with BA staff travel from LHR. :D

Yeah, there are some 777 with the old C (2-3-2), that’s definitely not good. Even worse than Lufthansa’s outdated C product.

One quick question: the menu on board does not seem to have vegetarian options, does one get a different menu for that or do you have to make a special meal request as you do when flying economy?
I recently flew EK A380 from DUS to DXB and I have 2 questions, and I think you would probably be able to answer them given your vast knowledge and experience with EK
1. Is there any difference in efficiency between A380s with the rolls royce engines vs the engine alliance one? (I think engine alliance should be better as it is based on the Genx)
2. Why does EK IFE not have subtitles for its english content? its a borderline dealbreaker as I was struggling to understand the lines over and above the noise of the air conditioning and the engine.
One small problem I had in economy on the a380 is that the nature of the floor layout results in the wall being too far to provide support to sleep on....well atleast the seats are wide and with lots of legroom!

The general thought I've seen on EA engines vs. RR, is EA are slightly more efficient (1.3%) The RR engines didn't meet spec on introduction and RR had to make 3 upgrades to it's engines to meet spec. The 1.3% for EA is after these upgrades. EK was a bit miffed with RR after the order since they didn't get another further upgrade.
EK does have subtitles in it's IFE. It's a setting you have to change with it to get the subtitles. Default is no subtitles. Next time ask a FA and they should help you change it.
