Come on man The SMG and AR ammo in this game was litterally called MG AMMO This ammo have identity crisis. Not until RE6 where they make 5.56 actually easy to find but pack a punch and burn so fast.
@@vector3802 Yeah They really have improve so much after all this years. Not to mention rifle ammo is rare in village. But NGL i think iam gonna miss when pistol category is stronger than a SMG/AR category.
This is a comprehensive explanation on each and every gun in the game shown off excluding situational weapons like the flamethrower and mounted guns in my reply section as the whole thing is to big to fit in one comment. (I spent I think 3 hours on this you are very welcome by the way almost lost a good sum of it on 1 occasion but quick thinking let me not lose it so that's very nice.)
Part 1/2 Pistols - A simple but effective side arm the ammo is abundant throughout the game and because of that it makes it a solid reliable gun and a good secondary with any bigger gun. ---- M92F - Your starting pistol it has Low Power but possess a 100 Bullet Capacity, and the highest crit rate amongst the pistols. (Pretty much a running theme of the Action trilogy mainly 4 and 5 all starting pistols are not innately powerful but they possess a much higher crit rate especially if you max them out. Meaning they can reliably kill lesser enemies in 1 shot at times with a well placed shot.) H&K P8 - Has strong Piercing, and possess the Fastest Manual Reload for the Pistols. Paired with its decent power for a pistol makes it a go to gun for beginners who are not avid at inventory reloading. Sig P226 - My personal favorite handgun it has the highest base power of all the pistols however with its lower capacity and its slowest manual reload you need to get good at inventory reloading to really use it effectively making it a pistol for more advanced players. Machine Guns - Classic Dakka cant go wrong, ammunition is common there damage is low but that's because almost all of them are full auto and most ammo boxes of this type found have more ammo in them then others to compliment that as such they are good at doing constant reliable damage. ---- VZ61 - Average Reload Speed and has the weakest power at 100 but has a strong Crit rate. But the biggest point of this weapon is the 300 MAG CAPCITY apparently 100 was not enough this gun is basically the largest capacity gun the game sans infinite ammo. So a higher Crit rate near infinite capacity machine gun being your taste would make this your weapon though I do feel like TF2s Heavy weapons guy cause you'll need to shove 2 full boxes of machine gun ammo into this gun to refill it from empty... MP5 - Average Reload Speed slightly higher power at 120 and a above average capacity of 150. But this guns biggest draw is its strong piercing making it easy to deal reliable damage to foes with protection and armor. AK-74 - Cant go wrong with an AK It possess the highest firepower at 250 but the slowest reload and lowest capacity at 50 so if your skilled at inventory reloading and are a bigger fan of damage per bullet instead of bullets in capacity this gun is great. Sig 556 - A weaker but more user friendly AK with a higher capacity of 80 but lower power of 180 and faster reload then one. So if your not so avid at inventory reloading or like a larger capacity with less sacrifices this is a solid option. Shotguns - Ammo is common to uncommon not as abundant as pistol or machine gun but common enough to not run dry at any one point in the game if you keep your gun types diversified. They are short range, high damage dealers and my favorite weapon type of all time but they take some time to reload so inventory reloading is recommended for fast fire action. ---- Ithaca M37 - Classic pump action with a good capacity at 25 and a power of 400, but like RE4s starting shotgun it has a better crit rate then other shotguns. M3 - A capacity of 10 and is the shotty with practically double the base damage of the other shotguns at 900 its pump-action does mean some delay between shots though. This Shotgun is for the guy that relies on no gimmicks to get done its just a clean cut weapon, and I can respect that. Jailbreaker - This gun is actually the weakest of the Shotguns at 350 power and a balanced capacity of 15, but its got great range and a faster reload then the other shottys making it a good shotgun for Beginners who still have not managed to grasp inventory reloading yet but still want a shotgun. Snipers - These are about doing high damage from medium to far range but even up close they can do some serious damage to one foe at the catch of there ammo being uncommon so not to lean to heavily on them. ---- S75 - A Bolt action rifle that has the highest capcity at 50 and the highest firepower at 2000, but the slowest reload this paired with a bolt action make it a gun better for dishing a lot of damage to 1 foe at a time and the high capacity offsets its slow reload as most fights will end before it runs out but inventory reloading is still a good skill with this gun in a pinch. That being said the bolt racking will require you to un scope making consistent shots hard to do at time. H&K PSG-1 - Has the weakest power of the 3 snipers at 1200 firepower, and the lowest capcity at 15 but it has upgrades to the scope for better magnification and is semi auto with the fastest reload makes it a very good sniper for beginners. Dragunov SVD - Tries to find a middle ground between the S75, and H&K PSG. It has a power of 1300 making it 100 more then a PSG, a capacity of 18 instead of the PSGs 15, but no scope magnification upgrades. But it is semi-auto instead of bold action of the S75 making it good if you like alittle more power then the PSG but dont like the Bolt action of the S75 and are willing to forgo scope enhancements.
Part 2/2 Magnums - Power houses that tote the most damage but there ammo is the rarest, save these guns for special occasions when your dealing with foes that are much more difficult to deal with. ---- L.Hawk Desert Eagle - A Magnum that is easy to use and fast to reload it does possess the best piercing of the Magnums though to be fair its probably not the trait you would be going for given all magnums have some level of piercing. S&W M29 - Is slightly more powerful then the Dessert Eagle and has a larger capacity of bullets but its manual reload is slow so inventory reloading is ideal to master this weapon. Other - Weapons that don't fall into a specific classification but may be used for one reason or another or maybe you want a little more utility and are willing to use some inventory space to carry said utility. ---- Grenade Launcher - It can fire a myriad of grenades that can be found out and about while playing or bought in the in game store that can aid in a myriad of different fights. RPG-7/Rocket Launcher - Can be found in Chapter 3-1 or can be bought for ₦10'000, it does 30'000 firepower but its a one and done deal meaning once you use it its gone and you need to get another one or buy another one. Also every character may only carry 1 at any given time so no you cant carry 9 RPGs but it is considered a weapon that can be given infinite ammo if you beat the entire game on any difficulty in under 5 hours. Which I recommend doing that on Amature (Easy mode) to make it easy on you, also it counts total time so you can go back and do a chapter to shave off time to get total time in the chapter select under 5 hours and that also counts. Stun Rod - Simular to your knife you can equip it and it shocks the life out of what you hit badly hurting and stunning said foe. For ₦3'000 its a neat novelty weapon but it is the only melee weapon outside of the Knife but it does prevent Plaga mutation so it is essentially a Upgraded Knife if your willing to take up a slot in your inventory for it also like the knife it doesn't break or run out. Knife - Speaking of which is your basic cutting tool so your not entirely defenseless its used to break boxes with no ammo consumption and finish off downed foes even a weak basic weapon such as this is useful but it only does 50 damage per swing. Special - Weapons that can only be obtained by maxing out the first weapon in the classification or by beating the game one of weapons there extremely expensive going for ₦30'000 to ₦50'000 a pop not counting the Naira's needed to upgrade said weapons. ---- M93R - I don't like this gun... it is a burst fire version of the M92F Handgun with 300 firepower maxxed the problem is its 30 round capacity and burst fire means its 10 shots overall. While the damage output is higher because of the triple shot burst its also guzzling ammo thankfully pistol ammo is abundant. So when you can fuel this Pistol ammo guzzler it does do a lot of damage a lot more then the other Handguns but I prefer the Sig P226 because it does more damage then the M93R which means overall it will do more with the same amount of ammo but just at a slower output of damage. My problem is if you really need to take something out that's bigger why not bring a bigger gun? so needless to say its not winning me over but maybe its high short burst damage might win you over. Hydra - One word, YES, being a lover of shotguns this gun is awesome a triple barrel shotgun that just mops enemies like no other it is a semi auto with somehow holding 10 shots dont ask me how that work apparently sticking 100 or 300 bullets in a mag was not Ludacris enough for Capcom so they stuck more shots in what would be a triple barrel gun. It even makes less sense cause of the 10 shot capacity, with 9 you can make the argument every barrel is shooting 3 so at least you could make something up but 10? where is that extra shot coming from?! In any case my favorite part about this gun is if you play as Chris/Wesker they do a special pose when aiming and one hands the gun absolutely awesome. It has a solid strong range to with a power of 550 making it essentially a upgraded Jailbreaker however it does have the slowest reload so inventory reloading is the most essential with this gun making it hard to wield for begineers. S&W M500 - Some people call it the Wrist destroyer/demolisher, its also called the Hand Cannon but whatever name you go by its the strongest firearm in the game with a whopping 5'000 points in power maxed out per bullet and It can do 6 shots. To put that into perspective its full capacity has the power of a RPG at 30'000 so every bullet is a mini RPG basically. The reason its balanced is because its a special weapon which is obtained by maxing the first weapon in the classification which would be the S&W M29 for the magnums. And all special weapons are ₦30'000 a pop so that paired with the max out costs of both its very expensive also you cant max out weapons till the end of the first run meaning its only good for future playthroughs not the first. M134 Minigun/Gatling Gun - Only chris can wield it, it has infinite ammo, does 450 shots per bullet, and gives Super Armor while firing the gun. The box on the back is not for show it can actually block attacks from the back. Its also not advised to use this with the Hydra due to the box always being there and it can obstruct your ability to aim with it. This weapon does however cost ₦50'000 making it tied for the most expensive weapon in the game. It is unlocked by maxing out the VZ61 machine gun. Longbow - Only Sheva can wield it, it also has infinite ammo and also costs ₦50'000. it does 1500 damage per shot but no reticle for aiming and the arrow does have drop off so if your good at it, its a good weapon. It also comes with a cool horizontal hip quiver that just looks good on Sheva no matter the outfit, this weapon is unlocked by maxing out the S75 Sniper rifle. Exclusive - Weapons that are exclusive to certain characters in certain modes basically guns Sheva and Chris cannot get access to. ---- Samurai Edge - Its a special handgun made from the S.T.A.R.S trials in Raccoon City and each one is hand made by Joseph Kendo on behalf of the Kendo Gun Shop in Raccoon City. It is the signature handgun of S.T.A.R.S and arguably Resident Evil as a whole but time through the series has made these guns rare and hard to find as the former members have lost theres here and there through incidences throughout the games but make no mistake these handguns are a masterfully crafted firearm in each of the games there featured in the series. The name is based on the shiny barrel exposed in the slide similar to the blade of a Samurai hence the term Samurai Edge and the S.T.A.R.S members each have there own variation of the gun. Berry's does 340 firepower but has a strong piercing property, and Wesker's has no special property but has 400 firepower its hard to tell the exact stats on these since the game doesn't tell you outright and that is accurate given the rarity and mystery surrounding these special Handguns. But if you want a detailed look into this gun and many others I recommend looking up the TH-cam channel KendoGunShop where they go in depth on many such guns like this one. PX4 Storm - Seen in lost in Nightmares its a hybrid between a M92F and a P226 having more capacity then a P226 at 25 rounds instead of 16 but not near the M92Fs 100 bullet capacity, and a as slow reload as the P226 with a little more power then a M92F. But one thing sets this gun a part from other Handguns and is what we RPG fans call a Crit Lord with a 87.5% crit chance 7/8 shots will crit so a shot on a weak point is almost a guaranteed kill funnily making it rarer not to crit with the weapon then to crit with it.
