- "Bend The Clock", from the Dream Theater album Parasomnia: dream-theater....
Lyrics:
Worn-down, wearing thin
Hellish dreams, tormenting scenes
Shadows looming
I'm paralyzed, can't move
Scared and confused
If I
If I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
Leave it all behind
No more
No more paralyzing dreams
The midnight screams
Always haunting me
But I sink deeper each day
Cold, hollowed place
Dark shadows
Vast haunting landscapes
In a frantic state
Tired of feeling lost
Alone and out of place
This circle I can't break
Every night, lie comatose
But wide awake
I'm paralyzed again
Darkness creeping in
If I
If I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
Leave it all behind
No more
No more paralyzing dreams
The midnight screams
Always haunting me
But I sink further today
The witching hour begins
Can't escape, I find myself again
Prisoner in the end
Sinking further than I've been
And if I
If I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
A better place I'd find
And no more
No more paralyzing dreams
The midnight screams
Break this hold on me
But I can't get away
Can't find my way
Sinking further every day

This is my favourite song from the album. It's so inspired, and I think it's honestly one of their career highlights.
Lmao this must be their worst album since the astonishing. One good track does not amw a gos album. It s full on uninteresting predictable songs with DT tropes. Nothing progressive anymore.
@@ioannisdenton it might be their best album since ADTOE but fine, Dream Theater fans always like to hate on Dream Theater for some reason
I dunno man, last album was so fire this isn't near it
bla bla bla. exitness of first days. In a year that won't be in you top 20 or even 40.
@@nino9273 honestly ADTOE was their LAST good album (i love it)
This will definitely be one of DT songs that will last the test of time. Absolute masterpiece!
This is the most "David Gilmour" solo that JP has ever recorded. And so unique in its own way. Excellent track.
I don't really know why, but those are some of the most emotional lyrics you guys have ever written.
The tragedy of someone hoping to just be able to sleep again, something we do literally every single day of our lives, is so hauntingly deep.
This, Shadow Man Incident, and Dead Asleep are gonna go down as classics in their catalogue, this album is gonna age beautifully.
The samme mann. The production and energy and CHEMISTRY is unmatched.
They KNEW their best tracks of the album were yet to be released. Absolute chads.
As much as i love most of their stuff, this is exactly the type of song that got me into Dream Theatre about 30 years ago. Beautiful tone, Warm and creative song and gorgeous guitar..Damnn🤘🏼
What a fantastic ballad! Thanks you from a fan from Russia, music unite us all
Beautiful song! I liked these slower emotional songs by the band. Labrie shines in these songs.
Great performance by James!
and lyrics by him too!
Best song on the album BY FAR! The album itself is not one I will listen again, or at least not often.
What a guitar solo 😱
5:56...6:56...Why can't I hold back my tears JP? you are a genius
In a sense, "we are all prisoners of the clock of time..." Another great track from this album 🎶❤️🎶
For a long time now, it hasn't been about technique anymore, but about how to use technique to compose memorable songs. Congratulations, this one turned out incredibly beautiful. Truly moving! Thank you so much fir all these years of amazing songs
Try to not cry with this pearl. Thank you DT. I love you. Forever. 🙏🏽❤🙏🏽
I tried, but wasn’t possible…. Petrucci makes me cry, ever. He has the gift of Music in her hands&soul
Lol, this is crap and filler song!
This track is so good it brings me right back to the 16 year old kid listening to images and words for the first time.
Than you were born in '77, just like me... And listened the same. 😊
Fantastic song. Raised the hair on my neck and arms. Petrucci solo off the fricking charts.
This is the DT I like, when they put their soul into a song and not just their talent.
Yup
It's got passion and creativity, as opposed to being an audible calculus equation. This is a real return to what I loved about DT through the mid 2000s, as opposed to the disappointing somewhat math equation/playing to our established sound version we've seen over more recent years. Great stuff.
Best song on the album in my opinion. This one really felt like classic DT.
Such a great song, surely one of DT's highlights, which will pass the test of time.
Bougth the full album early this morning, this song made me cry when I heard it on my way home after work... DT strikes again, 40 years of incredibly inspired songs, definitely one of the bests contemporary music bands. I'll listen to that album for the next weeks, again and again, like a drug but I can't overdose, this is so good ! Cheers from France !
Dang that final solo by Petrucci is some of his best work for sure!🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Satriani-esque with undercurrents of Gilmour…
Holy shit. They're back.
I was not ready for ~3 minutes of JP solos 😲
too short!
Rewriting musical history. We really needed this album.
The moment it started, the tears started to drop... best song in years, the feeling was always there. The creativity that raised this band to where they are today still intact. Just for this the 15 years wait was worth it.
I cried like a baby!
best song since Breaking All Illusions
@@DrFix82 Indeed, although some of The Astonishing could potentially be at the same level, definitely this is a banger.
really great album....and this is my favorite song....what an enjoyable disc...
[LYRICS] Bend the Clock - Dream Theater
[Verse 1]
[0:29] Worn down, wearing thin
Hellish dreams, tormenting scenes
Shadows looming
I’m paralyzed, can’t move
Scared and confused

If I, if I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
Leave it all behind
No more, no more paralyzing dreams
The midnight screams always haunting me
But I sink deeper each day
[Verse 2]
Cold, hallowed place
Dark shadows, vast haunting landscapes
In a frantic state
Tired of feeling lost, alone and out of place
This circle I can’t break
Every night, lie comatose
But wide awake
I’m paralyzed again
Darkness creeping in
[Chorus]
If I, if I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
Leave it all behind
No more, no more paralyzing dreams
The midnight screams always haunting me
But I sink further today
[Guitar Interlude]
[Bridge]
The witching hour begins
Can’t escape, I find myself again
Prisoner in the end
Sinking further than I’ve ever been

And if I, if I could bend the clock
The passageway of time
A better place I’d find

Can’t find my way
Sinking further every day

WOW, this Petrucci Solo ❤Guys, you are from another planet. The new album is another masterpiece. Thank you! Hugs from Germany, see you to my 15. Dream Theater concert soon in Leipzig.
Jaaa, Parkbühne wird bestimmt geil.
Best song on the album.
Absolute phenomenal...a masterpiece the new DT album...All musicians at their best...But John Petrucci stands out above all.😊
Ever…. He’s God ❤
Listening to it from Brazil!!!
Estou no trabalho, ansioso para ouvir o álbum inteiro hoje à noite, tomando uma cerveja! 🙌🏻
Whoever decides to fade out these songs should be publicly shamed.
petrucci took blame for that, he wanted a pick floydish vibe.
Such an unpopular opinion but ok
I think this album has the least number of shreddy, instrumental pyrotechnics moments from DT in years. Even the middle instrumental section from Shadow Man Incident feels concise and not over-the-top. In this sense, it reminds me of Falling Into Infinity. Very focused album.
This song actually sounds like a track from Falling Into Infinity
glad to get back my good and old dream theater, mike portnoy god bless you
Classic Dream Theater
That guitar tone, man....
Unreal how good this is. Thank you Dream Theater.
Feels like Portnoy's return brought back their soul. What a return to form!
Saw them a couple of years ago during the 20th anniversary tour for Metropolis 2 and it felt so by-the-book, which was real disappointing when I had the memory of the legendary Metropolis 2000 DVD show which I was fortunate to have been at as a great memory.
Feels like their creative spark is back. Grabbed me in a way like nothing has in well over a decade and a half. Phenomenal return!
so many years and they still compose as if it were the first days of inspiration!
James LaBrie proving he is a pretty good lyricist.
Interestingly, this sounds like DT, but it is not like they were covering themselves, this sounds completely new, I really liked it. I wonder how it will sound live, probably 10 minutes of solo in the end haha.
I like it. I'm getting some pink floyd vibes from the guitar solos. I was hoping they wouldn't overdo it with the odd time signatures early on in the song, and they didn't, which helped me as a listener settle into it nicely. It didn't feel like 7min+. That's the sign of a good song. When you don't want it to be over yet.
One of the best Petrucci solos! Reminds me a lot of David Gilmour's solo on Sorrow
Probably the best song on the new album for me
From the opening moments of this song i knew it was going to be something amazing, it is such a beautifully crafted song. Im glad Petrucci had a lot of freedom to shape some amazing solos on this track. Classic Dream Theater. Welcome Back!
Definitely an Instant Favorite for this album \m/
MY FAVORITE TRACK IN THIS ALBUM ❤❤❤❤❤
This is one of the best songs in their entire career.. amazing after 40 years
Such a great ballad! Fantastic!
Instant Classic! ❤️🔥
Dream Theater is everything to me! Thank you guys! 🙏🙏🙏
Man, I wanted that solo to last forever.
The most inspired and best of the album 🖤❤️🔥 40 years of career still give us pearls like these 🤟🖤💣❤️🔥

One of the best DT songs. More of this. ...but why fade out? Never fade out. Now I want the full version lol.
Cool song. Listening from Chile. Have a good day guys.

Yesterday something was missing from, and now the atmosphere is harmonious again after Mike Portnoy returned. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Good morning from Texas. This song is a banger! Got my tickets ready for Feb. 16th in San Antonio! 🤘
Goog night from Malaysia...keep banging bro 🤘🏻
Goodnight from Thailand bro
I truely love this song. How beautiful Labrie's voice is. from Japan
Thanks DT! 😊
I've been waiting this 15 fucking years
Me too
Back to "thinking outside the box". Friggin love the whole album but this song is on a different level and brings "prog" back to the roots. Congrats, guys, on a fantastic album
Since „The best of times“ the best guitar solo from John Petrucci! No one else has this tone, this feeling in his fingers! Absolutely brillant!!!!
You are talking about both portnoy eras i think, john even in adtoe (mangini's debut) had 2 epic solos in breaking all ilusions and lost not forgotten
Que hermoso solo del final..❤❤❤
this is beautiful! 10/10!
This song is shockingly good....good enough even to where it could have actually worked on Images & Words or Awake. Would have sounded a bit different of course (production, different era, etc.) but it is a very well structured song.
I hope this song wins a lot of awards, what a majestic song and that solo damn
As Thin Lizzy would say "The Boys Are Back in Town" - my favorite from this new DT magic. Love the new album - and can wait for Mar 8th in Chicago.
2 singles in the same hour!!!!
I feel spoiled!!❤❤❤❤❤
Note to self.... brush up on alternate picking this weekend🤘then work on speed 💯

I can't wait to see the official video of this awesome DT song! Of course, it is one of the best from the new album!
Ooooo, we are spoiled! 2 songs in 24 hours! 😮
Your music will never disappear by the time ❤
This song so cool! It clicks in very cool way! This whole album despite its dark it blend very well & works as a whole album! Thank u DT for bringing back MP! This line up know's how to create good music
Such a good song
Thank God a good one in this album...La Brie singing lika La Brie. Strong. Passionate.
Holy crap that solo....
Goosebumps on first listen. So good to see Portnoy back. That ending solo 🔥
Unbelievably amazing song and the rest of the album is so great.

Beautiful and touching song.
For me the best track of the álbum, the main riff is a master piece and the solo is so emotional, congrats. Im going to catch my guitar and try to learn this amazing song
Favorite track for sure. So inspired and powerful
OMG a ballad, it was about time!
❤ One of the bests from Parasomnia!
DREAM THEATER IS BACK
Seeing DT at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Conn. on March 14, nearly 25 years since I last saw them (at that same venue). Looking forward to this like crazy!
That vocal harmony at 2:28 🔥
