Hi Craig, love your vids,I take it you are fishing on the bottom in this particular float fishing video
Great videos guys!!!
Depressing music great information 👍👍
Excellent film. Would you show a drawing of how that rig (ideally) looks underwater please. Thank you.
Very nice movie...
To think I stay 10 mins from this place and still haven't tried it yet, Are you a guide mate would be good to get a wee boat session in over the winter, I usually do the lures and fly on the boat but like the deadbaits for night fishing. I hate the sitting about part but this looks up my street, Tight lines mate good video
Let’s do it!
Yes let's! Lol I just checked the website do I need to join the angling club to be allowed to deadbait I'm thinking of going this weekend with the flys if it's calm enough
Very nice video there and nice catch too Craig ! With the rig you are using in this video, the pike have to drag the lead with the baits ? Isn't it better to use a free runing lead ? Thx you !
Wicked that
Good on yas
Would rather a proper through action Pike rod...too tippy them fox rage ones by the looks. Though like the rest of the gear, some I've tried is great, plenty of good pike kit in rage now. Excellent video too
I also have 2 db Fox Rage Predator Elite Boat 300 cm 3 lbs

Loved that Craig, I need to purchase some of those rod holders. Are they the Fox Predator ones?
Yes 😎

With the anchoring system in leaving out that much rope from the top of the boat is absolutely ridiculous thats setting up for your very own made snag in the water if playing a very large pike, disatrous if you ask me
I’m presuming you don’t do much boat fishing with baits?
@@craigrenwick7144 i do plenty of my piking from a boat on large reservoirs and i certainly wouldn't apply such a dodgy way of anchoring where your giving the pike a chance to run into your top rope where a lot of it is left out, i take it then you don't understand common sense then no?
Hi Peter thanks for your reply. I can assure you that this way is the best and safest way to anchor when fishing with dead’s. It eliminates any sway in the boat and allows you to fish your baits effectively from a solid platform no matter the wind direction or force of it. The last thing you want is movement in the boat as this will cause your baits to drag bottom and possibly tangle your lines - causing inadequate bite indication. Ropes aren’t a problem, they are off the bow and stern to maximise the amount of space that you have to play the fish. We use strong gear to bully the pike and turn their heads away from any possible snags. A lot of venues won’t let you anchor using baits unless it’s done this way as it’s proven to be the most effective way.
Personally I’ve probably caught 150 pike over 20lb (up to 37lb) fishing this way without any problems what so ever.
Out of interest- how do you do it?
@@craigrenwick7144well I'm glad that type of anchoring system you apply has worked out for you and that no big fish ever fell unshort to getting snagged with such an excessive amount of rope being left out, but trust me if you were to fish Irish waters catching Irish pike like that where clearly so if you ask me irish pike must fight a whole lot more better than their Scottish cousins so, coz that type of anchoring system playing a wild Irish reservoir 30lber would not go down well in applying such an anchoring system like that believe me, hence my initial issue then i had with it when i seen it on the video, but if it's worked for you on Scottish waters that's good to hear but it definitely determines it for me that if me or any one of my mates applied that anchoring system on the large waters we fish, where the pike pull like absolute steam trains, our 3lb testcurve rods with heavy duty shimano baitrunner reels still wouldn't stop them from going into basically a big snag that we would've created as they obviously must pull a whole lot more harder here the pike in irish lakes than the Scottish pike hence again why doing that type of anchoring system isn't something that I dont think is fish freindly then and not just me but other anglers would have that same view on it aswell where they just would simply not agree with that type of anchoring down then unfortunately
@@Piker2346 how to you anchor?
