Ben, you are an excellent presenter and I like that you reference Carp fishing too as many people will be coming across from that discipline and there are lessons to be learnt from all aspects of angling. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, and yes there are still plenty of pike in there with a new generation of big ones coming through. You just never know with a venue like that and always worth a shot! Tight lines 👍🏼🎣
@@FoxRageTV I'll probably never get to fish it as I'm in Ireland, bit we have no shortage of water here lol. And luckily some quiet spots. Got my first 20 of the season on Saturday so hopefully more to come.
been using the same rig for years but ive found a size one worm hook to be the best, more durable than carp hooks, the point like to turn over on pike.
My PB was 12oz heavier ... 😛... but thats been 10 years ago now.. 🙄 I still love my deadbaiting... being irish, I'm pretty much used to fishing large waters, my local water is Lough Garawhich is 1200+ hectares... My tactics are pre-bait with finely chopped fish and chickenfeed pellets to attract prey fish, I'll do thisover several days if possible...... and I fish at range (100yds or so) using my baitboat to drop the deads beyond the casting range of weekend warriors and FNs who are raping our waters...😣 Really enjoyed this vid, at 65y.o. I haven't got the energy these days for hour upon hour of casting & retrieving lures and there aren't as many deadbaiting vids these days sadly... ... 😴 Btw... there are Bathymetric maps available on the 'net if you search...I've found them very useful for finding drop-offs in large waters... Tight lines lads and congratulations, Shaun... that feeling is something you'll remember forever... 😎👍☘️🍺
I fish an old quarry, very deep. I have some good sessions, some blanks. Where would pike be in the summer months as opposed to the colder months? I'd love a detailed reply on location. Thanks.
Just have a feeder session first and the pike will come to you, mate.... theres nothing like a fish trashing around to get off the hook to attract a hungry pike... Even if you don't pike fish the same day, put in extra groundbait to keep the prey fish in the area and pike fish it tbe following tay... dawn & dusk being peak pike feeding times, as you just saw in the vid here...good luck !! 😎👍☘️🍺
Very thoughtful Though going handling of the fish...maybe pour the water down that cavernous mouth for oxygen supplementation..what hefty fish they are..
There ain't no fly fishers catching trout close in at Chew at this time of year. All the trout are in the middle of the reservoir at the moment.... Hence the bait boat.
The wide head and jaw is always a giveaway for a big pike, after they hit 20+ they start to get serious girth and shovel-like heads... my 27.75lbs PB was just like that, fish of a lifetime, Charles... 🤗 😎👍☘️🍺
Ben: there's no rush
Pike: bolts off at 1 million miles per hour

There must be a 60lb lurking in that water.

There were quite a few showing fairly close in that day.
