It's good to have John Hammond as a friend....although I was a little worried the clones would end up looking like a Velociraptor. Thanks for watching!
Always loved this song but always wanted an updated heavier.version and this guy didn't just do it with this song but a lot from that era and genre.Wow what pipes and throwing down some killer riffs. I'm very jealous.
😲 I listened to quit a few covers! Many are very good! Russ is the Best! after listening to just a few! I figured out how he does it! He studies every part of the song and every instrument note for note to do that you have to have studied music! But not only that, you would have had to practice a Lot and I figured you have to have bin or are a Professional Singer, Guitarists, Drummer and instrumentalist in the field of music! But I think you're a musical Genius! 😲 My curiosity got the best of me and I'm right! Russ if you're not selling CDS, I bet you could! You sell custom recordings people pick their favorite songs that you already are covering, just a thought! 😲 Thank You for your Great Performance! 🎶🎶🇺🇲🎶🎶
Wow, Mike...I really appreciate it! As for CDs, I actually have two CDs of original guitar instrumentals. Just google "Willoughby Riveting" and "Willoughby Beyond the Velvet Rope" and they should come up. Thanks again!
@@russwilloughby501 Pleasure and privilege, true mastery of talent and skill and make it entertaining. I will have to take a look on more of your covers and hope to find my favorites. I'll be happy to drop suggestion if you do that too.
Super song! As always, you nailed it! You are a man of 'many hats', so they say. (Am I the ONLY one who noticed you wore a DIFFERENT HAT for every instrument you played?)
Absolutely blows me away! I’m a female drummer 62yrs old, and this is one of the first songs I accompanied back in 1972, with the stereo blasting in the garage. The talent this man has is truly incredible. I just heard him do “ I want to be with you “ and subscribed!! I’m systematically binging on the rest of these epic renditions. I think Mr Eric Carman himself would be equally as impressed. Great work my friend!! In addition to the fantastic cover of the instruments you also have a beautiful voice and tremendous vocal range. Gob blessed you with amazing talent. Thanks 🙏 for sharing with us 🥰 Diane from Florida
Ten out of Ten! ... Would have been an Eleven if you had surprised us with an electric twelve string guitar - say a Rickenbacker 6xx/12 instead of Wally's SG Double neck - to play that famous final arpeggio in the outro. Great effort neverthless and most satisfying. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Russ man I don't understand why this does not have at least 100,000 views Super cool I always wanted to do this in the band but no one could sing it. You killed it.
I'm already subscribed to Russ but this time YT shoved this in my face while I was watching Ray Charles vids. And I'm so grateful. For me too this is one of the greatest old power pop songs. I put the Raspberries version in a track on the DAW and do my own sloppy guitar jam right along. So much fun!
WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!! 5 STARS!!! This cover was FLAWLESS!!! Good job Russ!!! You have the same name as me by the way. 😊 Anyhow take care and have a good one Russ!!! And rock on!! 😎✌
So glad I discovered you today. It was so much fun to watch someone probably not a whole lot younger than me play songs from my era. And what a multi instrumentalist you are. I’m very impressed with your talent. Thanks for lightening my evening!
Russ, this is amazing! The instrumentation is impeccable and so well-mixed, and sounds live, not very "studio-ey.". But the vocals, especially the lead are truly impressive. I know from experience how hard a song this is to sing well. You nailed it! Awesomeness!
VERY well done!! Great cover of one of my all time favorite songs! The singer does a fabulous job hitting the high notes spot on!!!! Difficult to do, but he NAILS it!!!!
Oh boy, this is some really good stuff... Much respect from a fellow performing musician, who performs many of these same songs. Thats a heck of a lot of work you've done learning all these parts, and producing and mixing everything.
@@russwilloughby501 I know what you mean. I’m a writer, and I work with this fellow, muse. We’re fighting right now, so I’ll be listening to music for a while.
70's power pop meets Zoom! LOL! Seriously, nice job on a difficult cover. Getting everything to sync up on a song that had a bad case of dissociative identity disorder to begin with, not easy. Props to you, youngster! 👍
I have just discovered you...I have been watching/listening all your covers and WOW...everything is there, instruments, main vocals and other vocals...you are very talented...can't wait until your next cover....just as an idea, if you have time left, could you cover Dont want to say goodbye by The Raspberries ?
Oh, the Raspberries! When I first heard the original, I thought it might be by Badfinger, then the DJ corrected my thinking. It is very Beatlesque. I am both blown away and envious of your vast and encompassing talent, Russ! You not only can play everything but you dissect all the hooks and details that make the original a pop classic. Then you bring them to the party, spinning each one with your own nuance and individuality while respecting the source material. You have a great ear and outstanding technical skills. Any one of your interpretations could stand on its own as an audio-only presentation, but you are a showman. We not only hear your results, but you show us the tracks! What's more, you seem to have accumulated a fast collection of amazing instrumentation, making each insert both a highlight of your talent and, for those with instrument knowledge, a cornucopia of musical hardware. The fact that you do not expand on your musical pedigree makes your contributions even more magical. I am looking forward to your next project! Thank you for sharing your talent in this way.
Wow, Jack, thank you so much for all the kind words; I can't convey how much I appreciate it! So pleased that you've picked up on the work that goes into these (about 8-9 hours each). As for the hardware, yeah, I'm a bit of a gear junkie...especially guitars. I only wish I'd kept all the guitars I've had over the years! Best to you!
This is my first time watching you, and holy crap! You almost sound exactly like him! Make me wonder how do you sounds like when you were younger, good shit mister!
@@russwilloughby501 Have to say after listening again, that was a bitchin' little guitar solo so I have to ask : Which instrument was your favorite to play?
I think what's most impressive here is how this guy managed to clone himself and form a band entirely made out of his own clones. Amazing!
It's good to have John Hammond as a friend....although I was a little worried the clones would end up looking like a Velociraptor. Thanks for watching!
