Even though the NES game was only released in Japan and Europe, the Game Boy version of the game actually did get released here in the US, which plays very similarly to the NES version.
I remember getting that Yoshi doll next to the answering machine once when I renewed my Nintendo Power subscription. Every other time I would track down rare or personally useful Player's Guides to get for renewing.
I translated the original ending from Japanese and got this: CONGLATURATION you have completed a great game. Judicial evidence of our culture. Now, we will go to rest our hero
There is a game boy version of Ghostbusters 2 and it features the slime blower as a power up, it makes sense cause the Ghostbusters use both the proton pack and the slime blower
As far as I remember, a darker skin tone was harder to do on NES. There's not really any proper brown in the palette. The closest to brown I think is red or orange...neither of which really work. I think I remember Shovel Knight had to add in a new color or two specifically for it that NES didn't have. Hence the blue skin tone instead on here. Especially with the limited palette, the floor was already red in some places, so if they made the skin tone red or similar, it'd be too hard to see.
TXF There's enough 'browner' colours in the background. They should have used that for his skin and changed the background. I guess it's red like you said, but I'd still preferred that to having a Smurf. Seeing how all the character have only the same three or four colours, it may have had something to do with limiting those sprites(?)
OmikronWeapon Well yeah. I'm not saying it wasn't wrong. They could have done it differently and make it work with a color other than blue. I'm just explaining why I think they used blue.
I'm so mad I wasn't able to play this game as a kid. Or even knew it existed. I was ( and still am) a huge Ghostbusters fan. I would have played the crap out of this game and would have easily filled my Ghostbusters video game craving. It wasn't until many years later, long past the NES lifespan, that I found out this game existed. So I made it my goal to find a copy compatible with the NES so I could experience it. And it totally lives up and surpassed my expectations. I love this game. Easily in the top 3 best Ghostbusters games ever made.
There is actually a prototype leaking of this game. I actually have the ROM, but with the exeption of the title screen the game look like the retail version.
That looks like a pretty fun game. It's really similar to the Gameboy version which is the one I played. I remember ordering it from Funco in the mid 90's. It was the best Ghostbusters game that I knew of. I would have loved this "new" one back then.
I don't know. I DO, however, know that you can play it online @ 1980-games. It's going to appear in French at first (the site, that is) so switch to English.
Just bought a copy on eBay for $104 from Australia. Box and everything looks brand new; should make a nice investment when sold here in U-S & A someday!
I had to get mine from Canada. I actually almost paid more for shipping than the game itself. 25.00 for game, 20.00 for shipping. Mine is almost complete. It had everything but the manual....which turns out to be waaaaaay harder to come by than the game. Someday I'll find one....someday....
A least we got the slightly worse Game Boy version of this. This is a great import candidate for collectors regardless. And a wonderful HAL Laboratories soundtrack.
No co-op. I was disappointed when I got my copy of the game from France and found it to be 1 player only. The CPU only follows you around and deploys traps. Oh well it is still a fun game to play.
Hiya Pat , check out a program that was run here in the uk called "gamesmaster" back in the early 90s with nes events its funny as hell even though it wasnt ment to be lol , keep up the good vids m8 !
This game is Metal Gear Solid. It's the best ghostbusters game that I've played (haven't played the current gen). Did you play this on an emulator or repro, or did you have the pal version?
The cpu on a ntsc console is a little faster than the pal counterpart so the game will run slightly faster and the music will also be sped up. It isn't a huge difference though.
I only just noticed this but the sprite artist for this game must have also worked on Pokemon. The busters here look like they woukd fit in pokemon gen 1 or 2
I guess hal laboratories thought one of the ghostbusters was a smurf. that or "i'm not making a black sprite, blue- he's gonna be blue fuck it no one will notice"
I'm starting to remember what I hated about Angry Internet Review Man when that was still a thing. Here I was hoping for a sincere review and I got whatever this was. More storyline from the Pat extended universe of angry internet reviews.
@@The_Bad_Guy. I could have done without all the skits and storylines. All I wanted to know about was the game. Not his never ending battle with Dr Patsano or whatever horseshit was going on here. This really was the worst period of internet history.
I would so much love to have this game! It's so darn fun. I live in sweden so it would be rather simple for me to get my hands on a copy. But they are so expensive!!! >.
Wow, you only had those crappy original Ghost Buster Games in US? I never knew that "New" Ghost Busters 2 was never released overseas. It's really a shame, because it's such a great game - I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was also released on Game Boy, pretty much same Gameplay and graphic style, good game! cheers from Germany Dirk
3 "new" messages. Others were in fact old, and all real.
Was that balls message a prank call ?
Anyway to play this game in North America?
@@DarthJeyDawg83 i think thats billy game chaser
It’s a wonderful oh cool game
love the way he listens to his messages on a land-line in the beginning. nice little old skool touch.
Even though the NES game was only released in Japan and Europe, the Game Boy version of the game actually did get released here in the US, which plays very similarly to the NES version.
Released Nov. 1st 2012, as per the beginning of the video.
I absolutely loved this and gremlins 2 on the nes back in the day
Another great video Pat you guys make playing retro fun again as well as collecting much appreciated.
*"PLAYOFF BASEBALL, BABY!"* 😂⚾🍻
Even though he's not making these anymore, I'm still finding ones I haven't seen. Awesome job Pat wishing for morr
Conglaturation!! Haha
I remember having this exact game as a port on the gameboy.
The Punk delivers again!
Ghost Busters on 360 is the only one I've played thus far, and I absolutely love that game.
Pat, you rule, man.
There is a game boy version of Ghostbusters 2 and it features the slime blower as a power up, it makes sense cause the Ghostbusters use both the proton pack and the slime blower
the John D voicemail gets me every time
Pat you're a huge nerd and I love every second of it lol. Love these vids. Thanks and cheers!

We got this game in Australia, and it was awesome! Definitely my fave Ghostbusters game on the NES.
There is actually a prototype leaking of this game. I actually have the ROM, but with the exeption of the title screen the game look like the retail version.
KEEP POSTING : ) ....imho i really do like the idea of more mini-reviews and mini-flea market madnesses.
This was one of my favourite games as I a child
Cats and Dogs living together... It's mass hysteria.
That looks like a pretty fun game. It's really similar to the Gameboy version which is the one I played. I remember ordering it from Funco in the mid 90's. It was the best Ghostbusters game that I knew of. I would have loved this "new" one back then.
I like this guy just as much as AVGN. They're both really interesting.
is it worth getting the japan version?
Pat, you are awesome, and your Bill Murray impression is spot on O_O!
Hi Laura! 😃👍
Although you can import a copy of this game from Europe, you can also purchase a reproduction cart off the web for a lot cheaper price.
cant wait to add this game to my collection
oh my god i forgot all about this game! i used to love this, ebay here i come
Bustin makes me feel good! Now go and rest our heros
One of my fave NES games.
I don't know. I DO, however, know that you can play it online @ 1980-games. It's going to appear in French at first (the site, that is) so switch to English.
*E M U L A T E*
HAL, coders of those Amazing VIC-20 cartridge games for Commodore Japan lol what a surprise you didn't know that.
He's back!
What the hell's the point of that strenuously long answering machine scene?
That Pat is ignoring Frank, and it's funny. Well, I laughed.
as others have posted this game was released in the us on the Gameboy. they just dropped the new label on it.
oh my god this game i had when i was a kid .. it was awesome or so i recall :D
Playoff baseball BABY!!!!! LOLOLOL Frank is the best!
hey Pat would you be able to review the Ghostbusters game that was released a few years ago not the multiplayer one
this video.... there's something strange

The GB version of this game actually does have time-limited powerups for the characters.
Things you do to your game room or is it your game room?
have to in order to avoid flagging through use of copywrited music, which can have the audio removed from the video entirely
A least we got the slightly worse Game Boy version of this. This is a great import candidate for collectors regardless.
And a wonderful HAL Laboratories soundtrack.
More Pat the NES Punk please
Couldn't get ahold of Pat around 4:20 huh ? interesting. what was he busy doing ?
This looks like fun. Is it couch Co-op or is it only player vs CPU?
No co-op. I was disappointed when I got my copy of the game from France and found it to be 1 player only. The CPU only follows you around and deploys traps. Oh well it is still a fun game to play.
What is this Co-Op? In my day we said 2-player.
Same here but 2 player can mean vs or co-op.
Pat, you have an excellent taste in candy.
pat's reviews are those you watch with a bowl of cereal in the morning.it's sad he is doing a fucking podcast bullshit without these awesome reviews
Is there a two player for this game?
Okay that makes perfect sense, thanks pat. Can't wait for a new video. :)
Did you ever sold the NWC Carts?
Winston isn't so black that he's blue! I mean he isn't light skinned or anything, but damn.
Frank's telephone messages... It's like Twitter for people who don't get technology.
Yeah, and that's the Ghostbusters 2 for the Gameboy we got.
Hiya Pat , check out a program that was run here in the uk called "gamesmaster" back in the early 90s with nes events its funny as hell even though it wasnt ment to be lol , keep up the good vids m8 !
Wow looks like Halloween is in July now
This game is Metal Gear Solid. It's the best ghostbusters game that I've played (haven't played the current gen). Did you play this on an emulator or repro, or did you have the pal version?
"Kids with cancer arent gonna pay the bills" Epic
Ghostbusters 2 on the Gameboy was a Great game
Thank you
Pat you should really dust
the machine said 3 new messages lol not 8
I had that same house phone
I think everyone needs a 'Frank' in their life.
Game looks fun !
wil this game work on a nes top loader?
yes
great thanks for the info, now I just need to find myself a copy
The cpu on a ntsc console is a little faster than the pal counterpart so the game will run slightly faster and the music will also be sped up. It isn't a huge difference though.
It is much better than the first game,This is one of those secret gems on the NES that not much people talk about.
+pat the nes punk Pat Goes to the mayor?!
lol fuckin' love Pat and Frank. Good shit, another awesome vid. Liked!
It said 3 new messages and he played ten of them
pat you are my hero !!!!!!!
wasn't there a game boy version of this game?
Hahahaha! Your agent! Dude, cheers!
0:22 Mr Bucket?
People still had land lines in 2012?
It's 2015 and my dad, foster parents, and me still have landlines.
Cool a PAL exclusive game that is better than the similarly named US one. Definitely goes on the want list.
Not a bad game but I think it would've worked better with co-op, somewhat deeper mechanics and of course some sort of life ugprade.
Timewalk Games sells a repro of this made for US NES for $40 bucks so if you want the actual game there you go
I'm starting to remember what I hated about Angry Internet Review Man when that was still a thing. Here I was hoping for a sincere review and I got whatever this was. More storyline from the Pat extended universe of angry internet reviews.
What the hell are you talking about? This wasn't an angry review at all. He said multiple times how good of a game it is.
@@The_Bad_Guy. I could have done without all the skits and storylines. All I wanted to know about was the game. Not his never ending battle with Dr Patsano or whatever horseshit was going on here. This really was the worst period of internet history.
We Be Fast, and They Be Slow!
They actually had that game for gameboy
This game is awesome! Nice one Pat :)
you can actually MOVE with the laser active?! Wow, you might be the first person in the world to find this out, lol
I would so much love to have this game! It's so darn fun. I live in sweden so it would be rather simple for me to get my hands on a copy. But they are so expensive!!! >.
it said there was only 3 message
Yeah, it's pretty good as well
That PAL version looks a lot like the Gameboy Ghostbusters 2 version.
cmallory7511 that was a port
Wow, you only had those crappy original Ghost Buster Games in US? I never knew that "New" Ghost Busters 2 was never released overseas. It's really a shame, because it's such a great game - I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was also released on Game Boy, pretty much same Gameplay and graphic style, good game!
cheers from Germany
Dirk
3:29😂😂😂
Great game
is one of the best games on nes.
What a surprise!!!!
The best ghostbusters game is made by the JAPANESE!!!!
(Sarcasm intended)
Same thing happened with Back to the Future. The only good 'classic' BTTF game, was a Japanese-only SNES(super famicom) game.
Out of ya'll mind son!
