- @-NAOKINAKAMURANSTYLE was kind enough to sit down and tell us once and for all, what his favorite engine is! I think a lot of people will be surprised by this answer, as the SR20DET fan boys really hold him as one of their heroes, but sometimes you shouldn't meet your hero! Naoki Nakamura thoughtfully describes his different engines through the years, and how he came to the conclusion that he did. I find it curious that he also talks about his CA18DET and his 500 hp 1JZ-GTE. Also, I'm curious what that tune is that stops rocker arms from popping off.

I love his input on which engine he prefers. I think it's truly something to see a native Japanese agree with good ol' American muscle. Don't get it twisted, I love me a solid built 2J setup, but that just BEEFY texture V8's give is something to adore.

I think Naoki is number drift car driver in the world, so all the respect to him. End of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and man's word isn't gospel. It's obvious as to why he's attracted to an LS swapped car. Being in Japan, man's is about 15 years behind curve for that setup.

proper limiter settings. Ive done the same with my link ecu. most ecu companies havent developped redline settings properly
I would imagine its just a gradual ignition cut or fuel cut or combo of both.
But properly shimmed head and gradual ignition cut will save rockers too.

I’m the only LS out of my drifting friend group (they run all the other typical 240sx engine swaps) so this finally settles a decade long debate I’ve had with them 😂

Poor Naoki sounds a bit ill in this. Probably my favorite drifter among many others: Daigo, MM, Andy Gray, Carl Thompson, James Deane. Although the amount of toxic tire smoke he's inhaled over the course of his career cannot be good.

Still wanting to know this, too, Octav! I assume it's either running it with Ignition or Fuel cut as the limiter but no idea which in this instance.

@@OctavChelaru I always assumed fuel cut, but it's available on so many other ECUs and still people kill SRs all the time outside of Japan and Aus/NZ

@@awesomecooly123 thanks for the info. Dont know if he smokes a lot or allergies to pollen, but the way I see it, chronic pharyngitis is a kindda Asian thing(Asian myself). You know, its like whenever during a conversetion, theres some big "urhhhhhh" pops out the throat of that chronic pharyngitis person, means theres a big phlegm coming up, so that person cant help but have to suspend the conversation, and maybe even hurry up to find some convenient spot to spit out that big phlegm, or he might as well just swallow it while prentending nothing even happened and back to the sense of the conversation. sorry for the detail

They are reliable and hold up for a long time if you keep em under about 350 whp and maintain them right. I daily drive my 180 in nice weather and drift and auto x it on weekends its my more reliable s chassis if anything in working on my rb way more often that has let me sit sr never has lol
@@CodySnell_87 true I’d say anything higher than 500 is when you have problems I’m building a 500hp sr22 atm and it’s held up well doesn’t take much maintenance
I’m not saying it’s a bad engine. I just don’t know what it could be considered the best at. The sound maybe? That’s completely subjective so I could give you that. But besides that idk
