      I’ve actually had my VVL s15 tuned at haltech and saw exactly this. Did one run entirely on the small lobe and one on high to see the switchover point and just made it changeover exactly where they meet in the middle

      @@G.B yeah we did one run on the small for both and one on high for both. My changeover spot ended up being around 5500rpm but this would differ depending on engine capacity, cam choice, turbo choice etc etc.

  • @HeroSevenRacing
    @HeroSevenRacing ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve heard big cams will kill the vct though. People remove it because they don’t want to have to replace it frequently.

    • @ReubenHorner
      @ReubenHorner ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know some newer Toyota engines have the vvt gears fail if you use thick oil.
      The main reason people don't usually use vct on big cams is simply because of valve clearance. You need to keep the valves away from the pistons at all areas that the vct can reach.
      Certainly high comp it's a big issue. Turbo lower comp engines you don't need such big cams if at all anyway, so vct is obvious

    Haltech, on an SR20 since the CAS is on the exhaust camshaft, how to run a "VVTI" / HKS Vcam system ? (mechanical side apart)
    To my knowledge Haltech software need the position of the camshaft with the Variable cam system (not the nissan VTC style one, the true infinite one like Honda VTC).
    Do i need a full trigger/homing kit ? And put the homing on the intake rather than the exhaust cam, unlike OEM ?
    I know for a fact that RB26 with HKS VCAM run pretty much like a VVTI 2JZ, but i'm not to sure on a 4 banger.

      I think the main caps on stock SR’s are the issue, I think redsun Motorsport (specialise in SR20’s) said they can handle 450kw, because the main caps break at that power due to their design.
