I think this should have been kept in the movie as we would have known that the two first victims were friends.

So THAT's what Edgar Deems looked like before he went up the tower. I see why they cut it, as the audience has no real idea what's going on (or what the monsters look like) until much later.

this scene shouldve been added, but then again, mightve revelaed too much right off the bat
I can see why they took it out. Started with 2 characters that in the grand scheme aren't that important. Played its hand a bit too much up at the front. Also there would have been a bit of tonal whiplash moving from the serious tone of this scene to the theatrical opening with them joking. Instead there is a nice slow ramp up of light hearted comedy, then the suspense of the land shark POV sequence, to when the horror starts to kick in when Edgar is found dead.
Edgar. The fact is this character dies by dehydration.

They should of added this in cause it wouldnt really ruin the pacing as the first 10 minutes are boring anyway

the hell are you talking about? his acting was great, even with what little lines he had you already knew he was close friends with Fred, loved his donkey Justine and had a good heart, stop being unrefined.
