I just watched this movie last night on Tubi. I was shocked that Burt allowed himself to be eaten by that Grabboid. But, Burt definitely went out in a blaze of glory on his terms. Via Con Dois, Burt!!! Thanks for making the “Tremors” franchise one of the longest Sci-Fi franchises of all time. And Michael Gross, where ever you are, nobody could have played the role of Burt Gummer better than you. Thanks.
Burt was wearing his hat and sunglasses when he was eaten by the Graboid. The fact that his hat and sunglasses were on the ground on the cliff in perfect condition and not at ground level destroyed suggests Burt somehow managed to survive.
Pennsylvania steel. I feel like he used his knife on the same gland used in the previous movie (where his son extracted the stuff to save Burts life) to basically make it puke him up before it landed. That or this was just the worst choice the franchise made and it was just bad writing.
My thoughts exactly, even if he was killed then the glasses would have been destroyed or busted up and the hat and glasses would have been slimmed like after he got eaten and rescued in 3 which neither were

It was a worthy death! And a satisfying ending to this great series of movies (and I don't see those very often). Don't get me wrong - these films are with me since I was little and I want nothing more than to see another one - but if it was to be the end, it was magnificent. The greatest hunter is eaten by final form of ancient apex predator, while killing it and flipping it off in the process :). It was his destiny and he knew it well.
I just think he should have died for a better reason than saving the annoying side character. It would have been very prophetic if he walked out carrying dynamite and let it eat him, just like he said in the first movie.

What annoys me the most is that Burt was able to save himself but the other character suddenly appeared next to him when Burt minutes ago told him that he didn't need anyone else in this plan.
Burt Gummer, the man, the legend. He got a way better and more dignified send off than friggin Indiana Jones! A lot of people want Tremors 8 to happen and that Burt somehow survived. I don't. He endet as the absolute badass he was. And I highly doubt, that Kevin Bacon will take over. Let's be real, not gonna happen. All I AM hoping for now, is that Holy Crapwood, after the boycott is done and dusted, won't try to remake/ reboot this great franchise. They could only dragg it down, like they did with every other good franchise or character. And let's face it, in THIS day and age, Burt Gummer would neither be the legend he was in all the movies, and he pobably wouldn't be be portrayed as favorable as he was all those years.
This is also a call back to the first movie. When they were stuck on the rocks, he told Heather he would walk out, one of his bombs in hand lit, and let them take him.
What has always been a bit of a trip for me is that I grew up with Michael Gross as Mr. Keaton so always kinda saw Burt as a new identity Mr. Keaton adopted after a messy divorce that left him jaded and done with city life.
We're led to believe he has died... But there's more comfort in that it's left dubious. Perhaps in our greatest hour of need...Gummer shall appear again... Only missing Space Graboids...that is afterall where Earl believed they came from millions of years ago!

Hat and glasses found undamaged and relatively clean on the ground, no body, shown to be perfectly capable of primitive living at the beginning of the movie, his numerous praises of Pennsylvania steel, the gland in the graboids throat from the previous movie shown to make them vomit if irritated, and Burt himself saying on the very first movie that he would rather simply walk out with a fuse lit and let it take him. Something he didnt even consider here. Burt survived. Can't convince me otherwise.

I just rewatched this movie, and I don't see how Burt could possibly be dead. When he's jumping and flipping the graboid off, he is wearing his cap and sunglasses (2:41). If he was swallowed then, those would have gone down with him for sure. There's no way he could have hurled them off his body to land at the top of the cliff to be found later. You never actually see him in the maw of the graboid either. I would contend that the graboid overshot him, and he left those items behind because he wants the world to think he's dead so he can finally be left alone.
If I know anything from horror movies… no body means no death. He’ll be back. I was right about Glen from TWD and I was right about Hopper from Stranger Things. Burt will be back.
