  • This video is a step by step tutorial on how to build a simple dining room chair. If you are new to woodworking, this is a very basic design, and you don’t need complicated tools to build it. Anyone with basic woodworking skills and normal woodworking tools can build this chair. Each chair took roughly 2 hours for me to build. See the recommended tools below for the tools I recommend for building these chairs. They are very basic woodworking tools. I don’t even own a workbench yet, so if I can build them, so can you. These chairs can be used in a dining room, or for other areas of the house. I am building this one to go with some desks I am building for my kids. They will work great for a dining room chair though. Some chair designs can be very complicated, but this design is very simple and many of the cuts are exactly the same so you can produce a lot of the same chairs very quickly and very easily if you go with this design. These chairs are amazing. I built the other rustic chairs but I used a bandsaw to do the angle cuts. My circular saw went bad. Love your stuff man. If you make a farmhouse hutch any time soon let me know. 😁

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! A bandsaw would make things much easier, that’s for sure. I’ll be thinking about a hutch design for the future. Thanks for your feedback!

    Nice chair build! That would go great with some of the farm table builds. Regarding flying from your house, have you ever thought about a powered paraglider? You have plenty of land to fly one out of there! Either foot launch or a trike!

    Thank you very much for this channel. I do appreciate your approach to build simple yet important objects of furniture. Just for fun I have made some models in SketchUp inspired by your chair and table project. If you could please try to make sound in your videos consistent would be great. In a cense that some scenes in a same video have lower sound and others scream. But this considered minor importance. Once again thank you very much for interesting and inspiring content.

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I appreciate that. That’s pretty cool that you turned them into sketchup models. I need to get that program. Also, thanks for the feedback on the sound. I don’t know why it does that when I upload the videos, I’m still working that issue.

    You do make great diy videos...you give excellent instructions and your voice is actually very calming!
    But you mentioned CNC. Please don't use the CNC to cut any part of your diy projects...I don't have one and I don't consider it to be very diy.
    The piddling was fun. I enjoyed it.

    Love this. What do you think about leaving the notched part of the seat bottom off and just cut square across in order to foam pad and upholster the seat? Do you think cutting the legs off an inch or so shorter to account for the added height of the upholstered seat would be a good idea?

      I honestly don’t remember. I think I used 2”. You can set the hole height a little higher to keep that from happening

      Nice! Thanks for the sub! I used pine to build these chairs. The legs are just a normal 2x4, and the rest is just pine. I believe I made the seat top out of edge glued lumber which can be a mix of pine and spruce. Check out the description for the full material list. Thanks for watching!

    Not to be a smart Alec even though I am 68 years old I am fortunate to have a work bench , I couldn’t imagine doing all this work on the ground, it would be very difficult on my knees. The first thing I would do (at my age) would be a work bench so I didn’t have to work on my hands and knees other than that great video, thanks

    You might want to invest in a work table or make one yourself, This is important as the older you get the harder on your knees the cement will be. As I am 63 I speak from experience and don't want you to suffer my aches and pains. LOL Work smart not hard

    So if I want to cut down my boards out of 2×4s like you showed. How many 2×4×? Should I buy per 🪑 to start?

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you can get 4 full 1x2s out of a 2x4. You need one 2x4 for each chair to make the legs, so you need one 2x4 to make 4 chairs for the parts that require 1x2s. If you’re making 4 chairs, that will work out perfectly for you.
