This was my introduction to messhuggah in the early 90s. A Swedish friend of mine had this EP on vinyl. In my opinion probably their best song. Great drum sound too.
I really like how Meshuggah always was a very special band, and retained this trait without just doing the same again and again, contrary to what a lot of uninformed people say. Moreover, they didn't soften with the years and the success.
I just had a dream that my drummer friend and I were learning "abnegating cecity" and I found this video and subscribed. I literally just woke up at 4 in the morning, wondering if there were any Contradictions Collapse covers.
man im seeing aristides guitars all over the place now. Aaron Marshalls is playing them, ive seen Misha and Mark playing them I think. they weird me out, they look so wide and those weird cutouts on the wings look so odd. how are you liking yours Ben, and do you haver a fav brand? I know you like Ibanez and Suhr and, I'd assume, Charvels maybe?
Uncle Ben just one hard question, do you know what capsules use Fredrik in the version demo 89 of this track? liquifire? crunchlab maybe? call me crazy but this solo sound to me the same sound of john petrucci´s rock discipline example 31, I always wonder the pickups in meshuggah's early recordings like "ejaculation of salvation" love that tone man
Francisco S_M the crunchlab and liquifire wouldn’t be invented for another 20+ years after this was recorded! They played Gibson V’s and stuff on these old recordings, probably just Gibson pickups.
Can you upload a video of the rythm guitar parts of this song? Because I can't find any tabs online of this song, and my ear isn't that great either...
I have a question for you and for everyone: When you play Mastodon songs in the AGCFAD tuning, your low E string is a low B tuned to A, or a low E tuned to A?
Dude. Was wondering, have you memorized all the notes, from all the modes in all the Keys? And also, have you memorized all the notes on the fretboard? Or are you just well prepared for your videos?
Man I love these vids, uncle Ben! I've been binge watching them for days. Could you perhaps do a video about THAT lick from the outro solo in Fade to black? You know the diddle diddle-diddle diddle-diddle, diddle diddle-diddle... You know exactly what I mean... (Sorry for double post)

thanks uncle ben
This is Meshuggah? Really!? You gotta be trolling me! I gonna have to check this album you mentioned!
its fucking amazing
Figure out a crazy fusion lead like this that works over a standard blues riff so I can go to my local blues jam and mess with their heads.
That 9 7 5 pulloff on the G string is fucking hard
I wish they could play this song more often!
I'm seeing them tomorrow night. So keen! \m/
Great video, btw!
Would be really interested to see a lesson on a the contortionist tapping section from the language part one

The full solo and the arpeggio are too damn good. I don't know how people shit on this album, that's a very good Tech Thrash release

You fuckin kill me man lol looking forward to more videos.
Is this song in a different pitch than A440?
Meshuggahs first few albums are their best IMO
Uncle Ben, why is it whenever I wear my Jurassic Park shirt, you do too?
I hear Foo Fighters - Breakout, in those chords

Victor Sardon so he is just using a kremper with clean output?

Nobody believed me when I said my uncle Ben can play better than them.
The only meshuggah I know is 0 0000-000-00000-0
