All this stress about workflow in the studio, man they sound fine however they do it. American studio videos are like watching a cooking show, these guys are like a medical procedure.
*talking about signiture stuff* "They were kind enough to make me my own sticks, so it'd be weird if I didn't use them." Yet Fredrik has a sig. DAR AMP!, AND an Axe FX II, and doesn't use EITHER.
They almost never repeat traditional song structure... In fact, you'd be pretty damn impressive if you could cover them all the way through even one song.
I really like the band "Meshuggah" my favorite member is Harpo. I think there's a Harpo. If not, there should be. I think I'll write their next hit song, "A-boop boop chicka chicka boop boop - A-boop-boop. A-chicka chicka boop boop."
im 99% sure it was The Hurt That Finds You First, just because its so different to the other songs and so off the cuff simple in structure, it seems like the one most likely to have been jammed on the spot
I think Swedes learn English the way we learn French. The only difference being that they actually learn it. You see it with a lot of the Swedish hockey players; almost no accent. The other thing is, when you listen to Swedish, the actual sounds that make up the words are not all that different from English and neither are the rhythms.
Immutable And the violent sleep of reason are the most natural and best tones in my opinion, but the koloss sounds are definitly very unique and very punchy sounding
man, you're right. I was thinkin' about the background soundtrack. There is a Meshuggah song called "Ayahuasca Experience", which is contained in "Rare Trax". never heard of Ayahuasca visions. I misunderstood the comment.
I don't know much about tempos, but they seem to go out of usual, when it comes to repeat the same section (usually 4 times). Kinda messes up with my head. Find it hard to cover some songs
i am mostly blown away by the fact they just use Steinberg plugins for guitars... man I thought they were just 'hey we threw in some amp sims an shit for the program... but use something else' kinda thing. my life is a lie
FREDERIK THORDENDAL
Can keep time in 17/16
can't count scoops of coffee
Can't believe this album is about to be 10 years old
Same! I thought it would be 4 or 5 years.. 🙈
All this stress about workflow in the studio, man they sound fine however they do it. American studio videos are like watching a cooking show, these guys are like a medical procedure.
That’s why only fastfood is coming out of it instead of art! The only American band that did art was Nevermore and god they are so underrated!
so weird to hear haake actually speak his own native language lol
LOL
I think it's amazing that they sound like English is their first language.
Tomas Haake is too cool for school. Love that guy
Hello purple space friend.
@@sixstrinngmunkyI am the 5 year after the 5 year comment
If Meshuggah released an hour long album of just the input sound at 6:19, some people would still go crazy for it.
that is literally the "no effects applied" version of the main guitar riff of "demiurge"
I would love to get a Instrumental Album of Meshuggah!!! ❤
its funny how different their voices are, when speaking swedish, thinking about how they sound in english
Not playing together before recording is insane. true talent. the best metal band, bar none.
I like how they all have beards

5:36 Fredrik: I lose count when making coffee...but he can play all the meshuggah riffs and rhythms... :)
2:19 'Marrow' this pumps me up for work every morning.
Tomas Haake has so much composure while playing
Demiurge leaves a serious explanation point on this record.
In my opinion y'all motherlovers blew the target off the map!! Meshuggah is the best metal band!! Besides the one in my head!!
Thank you sir for uploading this.
The album is killer, as expected.
They almost never repeat traditional song structure... In fact, you'd be pretty damn impressive if you could cover them all the way through even one song.
The entire composition is being played against a 4/4 pulse, but the individual parts tend to absolutely be polymetric. Not quite the same.
There's a bunch in 3/4

I think it was either Marrow or Do Not Look Down

1:48 *If there is any chance, I would love to buy one of their personal guitars hanging on the wall.*
I've just started listening to Meshuggah. Why is this album so different from the others? Everybody can saying that.
Coming back from Immutable and The Violent Sleep Of Reason, I miss the guitar tones (and mix-master) of Koloss so much :(
Immutable And the violent sleep of reason are the most natural and best tones in my opinion, but the koloss sounds are definitly very unique and very punchy sounding
Pretty compressed, but very punchy indeed
he makes coffee the way he plays music, by feel and other worldly intuition :D
6:09 tube amp snobs TRIGGERED
They're all kinda old and bearded-ish. They're...officially...WIZARDS.
Well, for it not being "what they aimed for", it turned pretty fucking well tbh.
That*s already 10 Years ago?! WTF?! Where has Time gone?!
8.55 that sounded awesome !
Demiurge!

He's one of the founders of DAR amps, dude!
Respect ! alska meshuggah .. valdight inspirad !!
Interesting, is the vst pluggin was a final guitartone, or it was reamped after?
I would really like to know
i just whish they would go back to their older tones, Nothing, Obzen and so on. Now, their guitars are lacking high frequencies imho
Cubase is replacing protools. Finally.
At 8:44 I was doing for Jens the scream that just trails off
Masters
6:22
UUUGH!...aaah.
Thanks!
Buy it!
you really think they use complicated time signatures? YOU PEOPLE STILL THINK THIS?!?! sigh...you don't understand their music at all ....
It's part of their sound.
That can be explained by the reason for making coffee: LACK OF COFFEE!
Anyone knows whats the pluggin they are using for guitars?
DARKSINS696 cubase 6 built in guitar vst
Someone tell him that Event BAS 20/20 monitor at 7:17 is designed to stand upright. ;)
great,...thz a lot.
"playing a loop of 17 - 16th notes over a 4/4 drum rhythm"
my apologies for lack of specificity.
GENIUS
I've always wondered what that first song that they wrote together was...anybody know?
Max Zoia Pretty sure it's Demiurge
I don't know much about tempos, but they seem to go out of usual, when it comes to repeat the same section (usually 4 times). Kinda messes up with my head. Find it hard to cover some songs
grandi!
Nice system
7:44 ayoo? o_O what's that flag top right of the screen lmao
Steinberg Cubase 6 - VST Amp Rack
1:55 oh god give me that banner in the background!
Any idea what's the mixing console on they studios?
8:44 i started looking around for my phone..
Was thinking the same thing.
why wouldnt you have two hi hats?
i am mostly blown away by the fact they just use Steinberg plugins for guitars... man I thought they were just 'hey we threw in some amp sims an shit for the program... but use something else' kinda thing. my life is a lie
I do believe he was joking about that..
grymt
4:29 that's not an Ibanez, what is that guitar?
It looks like a custom guitar maybe one of his nevborns.
@@mrmoo5266 or a custom ibanez
He probably has to do a bit of counting
Does anyone know which tune on the album is the one they wrote in the studio?
Bit late but it was swarm
adam02 needs to redub this
Odd to think Vikings stopped invading and started writing metal.
Mårten has a confederate flag in his room?
Noticed that too lol
2:46 note to myself
What's the song at 9:00?
Demiurge
137/0 METAL RULES.
"Demiurge"
*keeps* saying that. . .
It's all just polyrhythms man
Roland triggers
@jackobthesnakob IKEA
3:48 edition fail lol
Swedes claim that? Oh you must mean a few you've seen on TH-cam which for you = represents the majority lol:)
Biggest lie in the universe, even though it's true.
It is SO WEIRD hearing Thomas speaking English. He has NO discernable accent, atleast to my Canadian self. Cool!
Sucks to see the confederate flag in mårtens palace.
not at all
Late af, i know. But are they simply using the fractal as an audio interface to re-amp, and all the actual tones were just Cubase sims?? 😕
Just using the fractal as digital conversion with spdif, and then using cubase amp rack
"Demiurge"
