Very well done again guys...keep it up! I'll try to answer some of your questions: Everything will get re-pressed but I don't have a schedule for when that will be. The issue, as I'm sure you're aware, is pressing plant capacity. We're working on solutions to that, so all I can say is stand by. In the meantime some repressing is always taking place but the numbers are related to available jackets. One of you asked why albums were shelved...to only come out years later. Michael Cuscuna asked Alfred about this when he was still alive and Alfred's answer was that they were recording so much at the time that sessions would get forgotten. Also...musicians sometimes wanted to record again to get another payday....."hey man, I have some NEW stuff that's even better!". And the older session would get shelved. There were actually not that many that were shelved due to not being up to snuff.

Dear Joe, thanks so much for your comments and for watching us. We know how vast and fascinating the Jazz catalog is, especially when it comes to Blue Note. What you have been doing is not only great for us listeners but for music in general. Priceless. The wait for repressed records is never hard because we keep being introduced to so many classic and deep cuts from the catalog with the highest possible quality and care.
      We truly appreciate your input!

Gents. You rightly highlighted Katanga. Dupree Bolton also features on a very good album by Harold Land called The Fox for which I think the Contemporary reissues are available and inexpensive . Great trumpet player and I think this is his only other outing on a full LP
    LP

Good to know Rob. Dupree is the start of the show on Katanga for sure. - Chris

Really enjoyed the video gentlemen! It got me thinking as to what my current favorite Tone Poets are right now. It’s a very fluid list that can change quickly as the series titles are generally pretty awesome overall.
    5) Jackie McLean “It’s Time”
    4) Duke Ellington “Money Jungle”
    3) Sonny Red “Out Of The Blue”
    2) Dexter Gordon “One Flight Up”
    1) Grant Green “Born To Be Blue”
Just missing for me would be Chick Corea “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”, “Baby Face” Willette “Face To Face” & Herbie Hancock “The Prisoner”.
I’m with Felipe on the Ornette Coleman Box. It’s not that I don’t like the music, I just find with his titles I gotta be in the right mood for them. So I don’t really pull them as often as the others.
Thanks again for the videos and I look forward to future episodes!

Really good choice Mike, thanks for your comments. You said it very properly, the list can always be changing, due to so many great titles that keep coming. And some of your choices are surely part of our lists as well, if we could include more titles 😉

    In order
    1 Katanga
    2 Cooker
    3 Minor move
    4 Bryd in flight
    5 Cornbread
I missing a couple of them but they are mostly early ones. Buying them when they get repressed.

It seems that LPs with one blank side are rather ubiquitous these days (with blank sides typically having an etching of art work). But it was unheard of when Johnny Winter issued a three sided album (Second Winter) about half a century ago.

Great, that I did not know, thanks for sharing, we’ll check it out. If well done, etchings can really add some extra to the record.

Great discussion. Looked for some of your picks - most are not available or above my pay grade but I've found a couple that I'm going for. I currently have a few - Sonny Clark, Lonnie Smith, Coltrane, Konitz, Pass, Tyner - and I've preordered the forthcoming records. So yeah - onward. Thanks.

Top 5 for me Money Jungle, Katanga, Chant, The Phantom and Byrd in Flight with totally honourable mention for Oblique and Passing Ships. By the way I’ve streamed the Rosa Passos that Felipe recommended in the last video....wow it’s amazing. Got any more like that Felipe? Thanks

Hi, thanks for watching! I had that record on CD, found out that Los could also be found and grabbed a copy. Rosa is a great Brazilian singer, with work dating back from a few decades actually. Would be interested in more of her work or Brazilian music in general?

@@JazzBums I’d be interested in both her work and more widely Brazilian music 🙏
