    I like HPI. It was my first proper buggy many many years back. Bought an entry level one but with the constant breakages it was not cheap for too long. It drove beautifully and I still like it but I spent a lot of time wrenching it and they cost more in parts to run than the later higher end HPI cars I bought. Learnt that lesson and now just saved up for the higher end models to start. Love this channel. After discovering your channel last year, I had already bought 3 cars thanks to your reviews.

    For a "cheap entry level" brand this thing did surprisingly well.
    Looking forward to seeing more of these quantums and from HPI/maverick

      For "cheap entry level" we have models like 1/16 hosim or absima...here we have two jumps and parts are breaking 🤷‍♂️ i was think about maverick quantum plus but now i dont know

    When I was learning to drive RC's, the damage I was doing to bodies negated the Shoegoo fix, it was just too expensive.
    I went with a rubber, water proof tape, it worked that well that I still use it.
    $25 - $30 for a roll and that's just enough to line the inside of a 1/10 Body.

  • @gillian9178
    @gillian9178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Vas i have heard from a few that say the tie rods on the Quantum's are not strong enough & bend or break pretty easy. Re the arms HPI/Maverick have announced new stronger A arms that have been beefed up around the hinge pin area + a stronger & different compound of plastic. There are also now aftermarket A arms cnc machined from solid Delrin a tough engineering plastic, they are made in Portugal by Metsafil. A bit on the expensive side, but if they don't break as easy they are another option. Check out the Metsafil arms on Ebay.com, just put in Metsafil MT150122 Quantum suspension arms. The clear bodies my well be Lexan as the clear bodies are more expensive than the painted/printed bodies. Great vid, well as long as it lasted that is. Stay safe.

      Do you know the part number for the new arms?

    • @gillian9178
      @gillian9178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markymark9407 The part number for the new arms will be the same number as the old arms, i understand HPI/Maverick will no longer be sending out the old arms. But don't know when the new arms will be available from, probably be some of the old type arms around in circulation. you will clearly see if they are the new strengthened arms when you get them, by the extra material around the hinge area. I would say if someone sends out the old arms then to send them back & wait for the new arms.

    • @markymark9407
      @markymark9407 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gillian9178 Hi, thanks for the reply, I will inform my Hobby shop owner and get him to ask for the new version . And if hpi have any sense they will melt down any remaining old arms and use the recycled plastic to make body posts 😂

    • @gillian9178
      @gillian9178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markymark9407 Looking at the close up picture around 4m - 30s in this video the hinge end of the arm that split does appear to be the old type A arm. The new arms where the hinge pin hole is drilled should be a cam or egg shape at that end of the arm around the hole. Remains to be seen if they send out the new Quantum Plus trucks with old type A arms, they may well do as the newer stronger arms may not have been produced in time before the Quantum Plus trucks were released & sent out to suppliers. Just hope there is going to be plenty of the new type arms available as there is going to be a lot wanting the arms to fit onto the new Quantum Plus trucks when buyers get them. There's probably going to be even bigger demand from those that already have the normal shorter wheelbase Quantum.

    How sad one big jump and it's broke. Not worth the money. From the looks of it these things are money hungry. One big jump and it's broke Go buy some parts and you're broke.😮 Go get a MJX16 scale hypergo And you will have fun all day with it running multiple packs of batteries through it with no breakage and most of the buggies and truggies and monster trucks are $120 or less. You can have fun all day with no brakes wouldn't that be nice. MJX baby is the way to go. They're also nice and fast too....😊. If you get the MJX truck it's a little more expensive but then again it has high quality parts in it and I saw a video of a guy bashing it and it wouldn't break he was trying to break it. So in order for him to break it he ran it over with his truck.😮😮

      I have a mjx hyper go and yes they are tough but they are also tiny 1/16 scale. You're kinda comparing apples to oranges imo. Yes they are fun and tough but they are very limited in where you can ride them and what they can do. Still a fun rc for sure. I do like how they are easy to keep in your car and don't take up much room.
