    Watching this makes me feel like my time on TH-cam is done and my presence no longer needed. How you manage to unbox, do a tare-down, 2 run videos and upgrade a truck in under 15min is mind blowing to me. Not to mention do a mini review at the end. It's just... how??
    I'm supposed to be getting this truck as well and installing a bunch of upgrades on it, but I honestly don't think it's worth my time when you put out content like this. And you haven't even cracked 20k subs yet, which is absolutely insane!! I've got 3 times the subs, get half the views you get and 1/3 the comments. Well done man!! Really, well done. You've taken RC content to a whole new level and I can't keep up with this. In fact, I don't know too many others that can either. Bravo, sir. 👏

      I think you'll enjoy the truck. I was hoping to get upgrades for it as well but wasn't going to be able to get them in time to make the video. Looking forward to seeing your opinion on it! It's definitely not perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than the first version.

      @@DoRCmaybe you missed it, but I've had the MT version for months now and it's a tank. No doubt the ST will be equally as tough and the bonus is I do love the look of it a lot. 😎
      Thanks for the compliments about what I do, but my style is dated now and after 12 years of evolving my content to what it is today, it doesn't hold a candle to what you're doing. I'll keep chugging along for a while yet, but it's clear you've taken top spot when it comes to RC reviews. At least for me, anyway... 😊

    2:19 sliding adjustable motor mount is great for race-ready pro kits. But for beginners, it's better to be safe and not allow them to overgear. I vote for preset mesh cos I don't really care about racing and finding that sweet balance spot between acceleration and top speed vs max temperatures. Thanks for the reviews. An in-depth review helps to choose wisely A LOT.

    • @Luke-en2tk
      @Luke-en2tk หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a shop the fixed mesh is so much better, motors nearly always move on adjustable ones

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having a sliding mount doesn't necessarily mean you can over gear as long as they limit the range of motion. Personally I like the adjustability cuz I want to get my mesh exactly right but I see the appeal of the fixed position

    Looks like a good beginner option. But at $275 (on Amain) I would probably spend $325 for the Vorteks. If you stick to 3S the Vorteks is way faster, has better aftermarket support, and judging solely by your footage handles significantly better. But having said all that...I would not be disappointed to add the Maverick to my stable.

    • @DoRC

      Not sure how much faster the Vorteks actually would be. With proper gearing this thing almost certainly can go quite a bit faster on the stock system and it has a very similar amount of power to the vortex. Handling Yeah I think this truck sacrifices some handling for some ground clearance and the shocks probably aren't tuned perfectly. I'd say the vortex is probably the safer option though options are good!

    You know what would be an interesting video? A video/summary of all the RCs you end up keeping after reviewing and playing around with them. It would show which RCs really hold up over time… maybe an update video on every RC you kept from 2023 and how it’s doing?

      Yeah I guess it depends on the brand. Traxxas and Arrma still have them but it seems like most new models coming out don't have them anymore. Love the deep dives you do in reviews. You pointed this but when it comes to bashers, there are things that were perceived as negatives I actually prefer for ease of maintenance and/or longevity. In other words, I think some of the negatives are really, really small. Grease in the diff. Okay so it was a sealed diff so they probably should have put fluid but so long as the diff grease is thick (one can always pack in more thicken it up even more) and the feeling isn't wide open & free? It's fine. You'll never have a leaky diff with grease. ;) Also I really prefer plastic links. They flex and are tougher than adjustable links IMO. If nothing else, they're by far cheaper to replace than a high dollar metal link. Unless someone is competitive racing where they're altering toe, camber, etc, 99% of bashers don't need adjustable links for bashing. Many wouldn't notice the difference anyways, between a degree or two. They're just looking for "can it survive big jumps when I send it."

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree about the reality of deficiencies versus the perception. The grease and the differentials in a car like this really isn't a problem other than if someone wants to tune them with oil and has to deal with removing it. That being said when you're selling something perception is everything because people don't actually get it until they've already paid for it. The perception of grease in a differential is "cheap" and thats definitely something that should be avoided at all costs especially if that cost is a penny or two.

      There's definitely plenty to be sentimental about with the rustler. I really wish traxxas would do two things with the vxls. 1) give ALL of them the 2400kv motor and 2) give all of them the 6780 and discontinue 6780A. I refuse to believe they couldn’t because they did that with the hoss/stampede 4x4 with the exception of the 6780A diff, which the only difference is the 6781 diff casing. Their 4x4 3s models would be far more compelling if they did so. I love my second hand slash ultimate and rustler 4x4, but I can’t in good conscience recommend either new out of the box. I usually say go for the stampede and if you end up hating HCG like I do, a rustler chassis swap is easier and far cheaper than starting with a rustler and upgrading the motor, center diff and tires. Oh, and if you’re a slash diehard, just look for a used one.

Axe the 2250 as well and just offer two brushless upgrade servos. Or axe the 2255 as well, it’s not a good servo anyway. Same goes for all the other servos.
