The King of Spain Carlos III sent the money to finish the cathedral to the Spanish governor of Louisiana (then Louisiana belonged to the Spanish empire) Luis de Unzaga y Amézaga, brother-in-law of Bernardo de Gálvez, so that they could be sent as aid to the Americans who had left. rebelled against England to gain its independence. Today, a bilingual tombstone in the cathedral commemorates this fact that in the past promoted the twinning of the city of Mobile with Malaga.
Welcome to Malaga, Spain! I had such a fun time exploring Malaga, it’s an absolutely beautiful city with so much to do. Have you been to Malaga before / is Malaga on your travel list? Let me know down below 👇 🇪🇸 If you would like to support my campaign to bring clean drinking water to those in need, you can learn more here: www.charitywater.org/matthew-kramer
Completely agree with you Matt, Malaga has been underrated for quite a while, it’s gorgeous and so many bars/ restaurants, love your enthusiasm sir✌🏼🏴🇪🇸😎
Hi Matt ! Beautiful Malaga you got some fantastic views over the City. I have only been to Spain 🇪🇸 on two occasions and that was many years ago I was in Ibiza and Alicante. Looking forward to your adventures in 2022 . Have a Happy and peaceful New year when it comes. 🇺🇸🏴🍺.
No, Matt, when you are 70+ the climb to the castle does not make it all the more worthwhile, especially when it's 80+ degrees. I will take bus #35 to the top and walk down
Is Malaga clean? I am in Alicante at the moment and it is very nice and clean. However, the city center to me, is quite boring! Is Malaga more interesting than Alicante? I heard that Alicante has a bigger city vibe, but I am not feeling it!
Oh my Matt, what wonderful videos you create! Great video, you actually place the name of what you are looking at on the video and you give the perfect amount of historical, touristy and fun information! Congratulations!! Sincerely, Linda
All really are great options so you can't go wrong. If I had to pick one for a day I would probably pick Cadiz. It's a really walkable city with lots of charm and there are a few beaches really close by!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Hey may I know what time of the year was this trip planned? The weather looks great and I am planning for a trip to Malaga soon. Thank you and great job 👏
If you had to choose between visiting Malaga or Valencia, which one would you choose? Same question for Valencia vs Madrid, and Cadiz vs Granada. Thanks in advance!
Great video! Did you do all these in 1 day? We’re they all within walking proximity of each other? I’ll be in southern Spain in Feb and am planning a one day trip to Malaga so wondering if I can see all this in one day?
Estaré encantado de ponerme en contacto con usted. Soy tu fan y espero que tengas tiempo para responder a mis mensajes. Estoy trabajando en un proyecto y quiero trabajar contigo para promocionarlo.
hi, this is the best vlog on Malaga i have seen, fantastic. Can i ask can all of this be done in one day? as i want to cover in ine day if possible. did yu do a vlog on where to eat?
Thanks Yasmin! I did do this all in one day, but it's a lot of walking! There is lots of good food in Malaga, but I don't recall any in particular! Enjoy your trip!
Perhaps too late an answer, since your question was posted two months ago, but anyway... One of the top things to do Matt left out, is a visit to the Atarazanas market. You will find an amazing range of fresh foods there (fishmarket closed on Monday) and places to eat them. Go in the morning, as the market closes at noon. I promise you won't regret it. By the way, covering Malaga in one day is a bit short if you want to enjoy this marvelous city to the fullest.
Hi Matt, thank you so much for your video. I really enjoyed watching. We are planning a 13 day trip to Andalusia. We will start a Seville and end there too. We will be travelling by bus or train. We would like to go to Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga and Ronda and back to Seville. How many days do you think we should stay in each town? Thanks once again for sharing
It depends what you like (bigger cities vs. small towns). If you are tight on time, I think you can do a day trip to Ronda, then 2-3 days in each other place. Each town/city has a lot of charm to it!
Thanks for the video. I was a Auxiliar de Conversation last year and was 1 hour from Valencia and 2 hours from Barcelona, right on the Mediterranean. Loved it, but village was too small. I didn't get to travel around as much as I'd have liked. Malaga area is high on my list, as I'm considering retirement a bit early. Probably will take a trip in a few weeks and will check the area out.
We are really enjoying your Spain videos. Thank you so much for sharing them! Love your enthusiasm and energy!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you are enjoying them!

Great video. Can you share the name of the song and artist from the song at 51 secs?
It's called Que by Lu-Ni

Hi mat. What would you choose between malaga cordoba granada and cadiz? If you had only 1 day to explore. Which city would you choose and why?
All really are great options so you can't go wrong. If I had to pick one for a day I would probably pick Cadiz. It's a really walkable city with lots of charm and there are a few beaches really close by!

Malaga is so nice but freaking hot in the summer
But still so worth the visit!! The humidity is low, so it’s not so bad, plus there’s lots of shaded streets and a beautiful breeze from the sea!😊
Another great video Matt. I love Spain and it’s looks so beautiful. Question for you….. are you fluent in Spanish?
Thank you, I really enjoy traveling through Spain too! I am not fluent in Spanish but I am actively learning!
