“The Grateful Dead's 1971 live album was a little light on Pigpen songs, but this 17-minute version from the Fillmore West packs a lot of Pigpen onto the expanded album." - David Lemieux
Some of these songs should come with a warning, "Caution, extreme movements may result in permanent damage to your soul, body and mind." LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On this never ending trip for good lovin' i know i can count on getting it from the Grateful Dead every day of the week. Keeps me alive and dancin' 🕺🎶🎶🎶💃
Cheer everyone ! If I wasn,'t hook by the first album in 1967, at the tender age of 10, by '71 I was a certified Deadhead. This era, to my ears, will always be the genuine article, when Pigpen was still there. Listening high up in the Andes, the trip goes on forever. Thanks Grateful Dead and to whoever posted execellent Good Lovin' !
I once had work related surgery. A very nice woman sent me a small box of items to cheer up my recovery. That was long ago. I miss you all so much. PS: I sent her some peach salsa
Alright all deadheads, I have loved this particular version of Good Love more than any other that I know of. The boys exemplify the credo of loose is tight better than ever. Everyone is on the same page as they tear their individual parts up, Pigpen performs his greatest borderline scat/proto hip hop. 7:40 to 10:40 has the sweetest, on the beat improvised lyric that is head and shoulders better than any other version. Does anyone have a better example of Pigpen at the top of his game? I'd love to listen. Thanks for posting this utter gem in a dragon's lair of jewelry of the Grateful Dead archives.
@@mws7615 I said are you a refrigerator repair man? Thanks, the 4/25 is more relaxed and structured. Pigpen definitely has it going on but the band is missing that manic edginess of the last Fillmore East show 7/2. I still need to listen to your other suggestions, 😀

Yeah plenty of versions are better than this one. 4/17/71, 4/25/71, 5/2/70, 5/7/72, 5/15/70. I thought this one was decent
@@auteur not nearly as good

Pigpen really was something else. It's one of my favorite dead eras :D
He was DA MAN!
I was at a show at FWest in which Miles Davis opened. But I think Pig Pen was gone at that time. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Pig Pen. Sooo long ago.
Nope Pigpen was around for the Miles shows
