FYI: Suspension compenents should be left loose until you get weight on the wheels, then torqued to spec - otherwise the bushings get torqued in their extended position and will wear out much quicker.
The car is stunning Matt. The excitement is shared. The pacing and camera work of the show is superb. Too many youtubers go from crash damaged to full restore in an a couple of hours and skip all of the detail. Thank you.
The color combination is a complete home run! The modern color on that (slightly) older is cool. And the rare Terra Cotta interior color is amazing. Together, it’s a great contrast that works! And best of all, you don’t have a BLACK interior. So unimaginative especially when Porsche offers such beautiful choices. You’re killing it!!!
So satisfying, I cant WAIT till its done! Also, I gotta admit originally I wasn't so sure about the nardo grey, but now its really growing on me, to the point where i'm fantasizing about what I can paint nardo grey myself.
You are killing me with the use of that electric drive. Especially for the nuts in wax that hold the hood ornament on. Put those seatbelts by your interior stored in your house.
Car looks great. However, you’re going to need a splash of color somewhere in that sea of grey. Red tail lights help, and so will the caliper color. If you don’t tint the windows, the terra cotta interior should look great.
Matt, I just LOVE this series! Keep it up! What I would love to see is a review/overview of your tools. I noticed you moved from Ryobi to Milwaukee. Why? Also, how did you learn all this, self taught or mechanic by trade?
Hi Matt. It's that time!!. I have waited so long to see the Intior in the Car. It Seems like years ago when you stripped everything out and Hoovered the floor lol. Great job Mate. 😅🇨🇮🖐🖐🖐
9:08 lol 16:28 Oh no! You are doing it wrong! This is by tradition the very very very last thing to do when restoring such a car! No more else to do.... add the badge, go with champaign (or whisky - what ever you prefer lol) and FINISH the car by that Great content as always... LIKE!
Excellent progress!!! A little late, but you may want to replace the swaybar bushings as it does make a difference in handling and yours looked... tired.
I wasn't sure where to put the tape, or if it would reach where necessary. I'm going to see how the glue holds up and go from there. It's a really tight fit anyway.
Oh no, these are just the track wheels (2 sets!) that came with the car. I like them for what they're designed for. I'm unsure on my final wheel choice though.
All those bolts have torque specs so you don’t break bolts or have them come loose while you’re flying around a track. Some may even be single use. I’ve never wrenched on a Porsche but if I were wanting to do it right I’d know and use the factory torque values.
@@matt13rosson these cars there are actually multiple TTY bolts and plenty of aluminum parts that makes using a torque wrench a really good idea.... prevents stretching bolts and stripping threads
Love the series, I really do, and I'm a huge fan of your channel, but please, please stop with the subtitles - It completely takes me out of your video content when they pop up and just kills the flow.
That freshly painted bumper parked right up against the bed liner in the truck bed is cringeworthy. Could have gotten another moving blanket to put between it and the wheel well.
agree its a distraction and makes me think I'm watching some indie film not in english. If people want them they can turn them on, not being able to turn them off is a big no for me.
Honestly I have worked for 7 manufacturers and the only one that said it was OK was volvo and they used thos solder joints with the heat shrink but as a tech I'm not willing to put a customers life at risk and goto jail so we replace whole harness
I paused the video and came here to comment this. 😂 I’m a repeat butt-connector blocker commentator. For the fourth time, use solder. Other than that, good work Matt! 👨🏻🏭
Nice work. Still never going to be a fan of such an unspired color choice, but I just don't like any color that's anywhere on the grey scale. BORING. However it does have the advantage of being a color that does not catch the eye, which can be handy if you're doing 30 over the speed limit and suddenly your radar detector goes insane. Red cars get more tickets. Truth.
Thanks!
Wow, so kind, thank you!!!
Figured I’d help out with some of those premium fluids👍
Haha, they aren't cheap!
FYI: Suspension compenents should be left loose until you get weight on the wheels, then torqued to spec - otherwise the bushings get torqued in their extended position and will wear out much quicker.
Matt doesn’t torque anything to spec so he doesn’t have to worry about that. 😎
@@biznatcho7True that.. you can replace "torqued to spec" with "tightened" ;-)
Ahaha you guys are great.

Thanks for the feedback!
3M VHB tape!!!
May have to stockpile some.
those holes in the decklid are for the rubber stops. You probably have them on the 996 for comparison.
The Camera Work is Amazing
🔥 loving this build Matt! Thanks for the content.

Thanks, I totally agree!
This sums up my thoughts exactly, I love it!
So satisfying, I cant WAIT till its done!

Glad to see it's growing on you! Lots didn't like it, but I LOVE IT!
Eagerly waiting for the interior restore 😊 love the exterior colour and can’t wait to see the complete package. Big thumbs up from me 😀
Love your videos Matt! So excited to watch this one!
Hey Matt really looking forward to seeing the interior go back in. It’s going to look neat with the colour contrast.Keep at it.👍
This build is really getting interesting. I look forward to each new video.
Love this build. Well done.
You are killing me with the use of that electric drive. Especially for the nuts in wax that hold the hood ornament on. Put those seatbelts by your interior stored in your house.
Beautiful Build i like the color! Keep up the good work!
To trick bcm into thinking the hood is closed just push down the latch in the lock with a pick or something that fits:)
As always, great editing and content, Matt!
This Porsche is, indeed, beginning to look like the "bee's knees!"
Fantastic progress! :)
Thanks!!
Hi Mat,
You should get the bottom of car done with dry ice. It would look like brand new.
Alf Australia
Eventually, yes.
8:32 lol I do that kind of stuff all the time.
Excellent work. Would love to have the space, time and funds to be able to complete a build like this.
Colour scheme looking sharp 👍👍
Coming along nicely Matt 👍🏻
freakin love the colors!!! cannot wait to see the final results! congrats and great job!
Same, and thanks!
Car is coming together well .
Good luck ever getting that LED out if it ever fails… you should have used a few dabs of windscreen sealant.
I figured if it fails, it's as part that can't be repaired anyway. So a drill, big screw, it will come right out.
Really love the color you chose for that car.
Same , thanks!
Car looks great. However, you’re going to need a splash of color somewhere in that sea of grey. Red tail lights help, and so will the caliper color. If you don’t tint the windows, the terra cotta interior should look great.
There will be nice splashes of color, no worries!
Amazing vids. Keep pushing for that 100k. You will have it before u know it.
I hope so!!
Great work, cheers!
looking great!
Finally a new episode lol, looking great as always Matt!
looking great man
Little things.... man that crest on the bonnet looks sweet
So dope seeing the video quality improve by each video! This 20 minute video just felt like a 5 minute video! So ready to see the car on the road🫡
Great build. I’m building a twin turbo Porsche Boxster.
Body color wing, carbon end plates. 3M VHB tape for the 3rd brake light.
love the color
I need more!
Hey how about some DynaMat or similar product? Seems like a sweet add on at this stage?
Oh yeah that would be awesome
I just don't think a newer lux car like this needs it. The carpet is SO thick, you'd never notice.
Perfect
Matt, I just LOVE this series! Keep it up! What I would love to see is a review/overview of your tools. I noticed you moved from Ryobi to Milwaukee. Why?
Also, how did you learn all this, self taught or mechanic by trade?
For the price Milwaukee is arguably the best there is.
Please, please start torquing fasteners up properly. I love the series but please go easy on the power ratchets.
Great work, but the hood badge should be the last part installed to complete the project!
Hi Matt. It's that time!!. I have waited so long to see the Intior in the Car. It Seems like years ago when you stripped everything out and Hoovered the floor lol. Great job Mate. 😅🇨🇮🖐🖐🖐
Full interior install coming soon!
@@matt13ross Great Stuff Matt. Nearly there lol.
Interesting your 997 Turbo has the steel rear cross member, thought 997 on had the aluminum pieces and just the 996 gt2/gt3 had the aluminum.

I thought about that. They do seem in excellent shape.
Matt un-torqued, Matt never-torqued, Matt what’s torque? Matt crank that shit as hard as possible. Haha, good luck. Love watching.
It's never failed me yet!
Matt u got these two sexy turbos and a V-8 M3 letsss gooo bro
im hyped for you bro its coming along beautifully and to top it off some brush champagne wheels
I'm still really torn on wheel choice.
Love this build - colour looks awesome. But why the super big wing?
It's what came with the car. If I don't like it, I'll go stock. But stock ones are VERY expensive.
@@matt13rosskeep the big wing
Are you gonna ice blast the underside?
That's WAY down on the list.
Does that scan tool have the same capabilities as the PIWIS? Program headlight modules, PASM etc?
That I'm not sure of. That seems like a Porsche only tool though.
@@matt13rossfoxwell can do some of it and the durametric pro can do all of it. Far cheaper than the Porsche piwis
so is the plan to convert it into a gt2 rs look a like or leave it be to give it its own unique look?
It's just going to be unique.
Carbon fiber wing is a must
Yes BUT not for like $3k lol
Where to put those parts? On that car obv! Awesome work 👍
Working it, haha!
997 is such a wonderful Porsche is this a .1 or .2?
agreed! .1
BTW. Not sure if anyone mentioned it but I am glad to see the stache has gone 😂 👍
What color is that? Looks like a Lexus pearl white. I originally thought it was gray.
Porsche Chalk Grey
@@matt13ross very nice with that interior. Seatbelts turned out great!
Thanks I think so too!
I would 3m tape that third brake light before hot glue man
I wasn't sure where to put the tape, or if it would reach where necessary. I'm going to see how the glue holds up and go from there. It's a really tight fit anyway.
GT3 RS/ Cup wing with Turbo bumper doesn't match. I would suggest either go with the sport design turbo wing or full gt3 rear or full gt2 rear
Wait till it's all together.
Ohh, no black parts for some contrast?
What parts you thinking?
That was a solid dad joke
I thought so lol
Wow 1 hr in and no one has posted about the truck wheels......yet!
Ahahahahah!!!
I didn’t realize that headlight polishing lube could be used to clean mirrors. I wonder if it can clean glass as well…hmm…
I just realized it can clean glass!!!!!
Matt please please tell me your not keeping those horrid wheels. With that lovely grey paint work a nice set of retro Fuchs would look amazing.

What for?

If you think your mechanic torques every bolt when he works on your car you are sadly mistaken.
