    When I made this video, I had 55 sales since July last year (9 month period), it has now been 13 months since I started my store and I now have 130 sales. 75 since making this video! I have been marketing masks on my Facebook in the last month and that seems to have worked for me. Keep up the great work for me. If you qre wanting any specific videos which may be helpful, please let me know. I have another Society6 video coming out very soon, watch this space 😊 Sending good vibes to all of you 😁

      @@lurizaninaliaz you're so welcome, kind comments like this make my day and make the hard work all worth it. Stay tuned for more Society6 and print on demand videos. All the very best for your stores if you have them 😁

      @@lurizaninaliaz good on you for doing your research. One thing I have learned is it isn't a one size fits all process. I have the most luck on Society6 and have had a few sales via Etsy. Redbubble and TeePublic aren't so good for me and it is hard to tell why. I think the style of artwork plays into where you can do well and also your preferred method of social media marketing (Society6 & Pinterest combo is the winning one for me). It is certainly a supplement to my client income and at this stage the income I have made does not match the energy I have put in, but it is a long game. It works better for me than when I sold art through my website, having the platform handle all the shipping, customer interactions etc allows me to focus on the creating too. I think passive income should be renamed "delayed and not guaranteed income" - But I am hopeful and one thing I learned from publishing my book, persistence and drive is key. You never know how close you are to your dreams. I woke up to $11.90 USD ($18 NZD) this morning, I did the work ages a go and it pays off today, that drives me to keep going :)

      13 months for 130 sales is not worth your time. you best look out for a better source of revenue. Besides the 10% commission rate for artists is a joke.

    Since now you have to pay monthly if you have more than 10 designs, is it still worth it? I've seen you had 9 designs on your store so I presume you downsized your portfolio to display only the bestsellers?

    I've been on S6 since 2013. Their web sites sucks, and they don't make your sales clickable links so you don't know which exact print you sold!

    When compared as a print on demand marketplace. how would you describe Society 6 vs RedBubble in terms of branding and market placement in the customers mind? Meaning would you say Society 6 is perceived as a more avant-garde/ contemporary digital space and Reb Bubble more fun/wacky popish art. i have looked at the two and my initial perception of Society 6 is that it seems to be more of an art marketplace that is placed on products and Red Bubble are products that have art.That is my initial perception. hopefully I can get the perception of others in the comments

    • @DesignbyCheyney
      @DesignbyCheyney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Heya, yeah, my perception is similar. Redbubble for me feels more accessible and society6 seems more exclusive. As in I feel people go to Society6 to get designs that are more elaborate rather than comical. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for watching 🥰

I don't make $5 per sale, I make anywhere from $0.40 for a sticker to $14.90 for a rug. My markup is 20% for Art Prints and 15% for Framed Art Prints and Canvas Prints, you aren't able to set markups for other products. I hope this helps. @DesignbyCheyney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Karlena_Lewin_Studio all this information is packed into my other videos so if you get the chance I suggest you take a good look :) Your image size will need to be bigger if it is not fitting on all products. Are you uploading photographs or vector designs? If you are uploading photographs, ensure you take your photos at the highest resolution, and if you're a designer submitting graphics, up the size of your artboard and export your image at a higher DPI. That should do the trick. In one of my videos I show my exact uploading process, I don't have an issue with image size/quality. I can't remember my exact income form Redbubble but I do say it in my RB video :) For Society6, I currently average at about $50 USD a month. This fluctuates based on season though, Christmas cranks ( $100+ USD Nov/Dec) and then it dies off for a few months. I have a screenshot of my monthly sales in one of my videos.

    May I ask though, how transparent is Society6 with reporting sales of items? Just so you can keep track of sales?

    • @DesignbyCheyney
      @DesignbyCheyney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When you make a sale, you don't get notified but if you check your earnings overview page a list of all your 'paid, 'cleared', and 'pending' payments come up - after a sale is made on Society6, your payment is pending for 30 days. All customers have 30 days to return if they're unhappy with their purchase so that covers that period. I usually get my Society6 payout around the beginning of each month. On the earnings page you can see the date of the sale, the design, the product, quantity purchased and the commission. You can go through previous months of sales too. You can't see where in the world things are purchased from. Each sale that I know of has been recorded (for example my cousin told me she ordered masks and I could see the ones she purchased showed up in my sales so I don't have any reason to not trust them. If you like I can happily share a screenshot?

      Another question though! I read that artists/sellers determine the markup from the base price. Do you earn the full amount or are there like surprise fees and deductions?

      @@luisagamboa4416 to give you an idea of commission, the least amount of commission I have made is $0.60 USD on a mini art print and the most os $12.90 USD on blackout curtains. The commission doesn't seem to change per product which indicates that your margin isn't impacted by the sales they regularly run. I think you can only change your margins on wall art and canvases and the rest is fixed, I just left mine at the suggested rate. Have you checked out my other Society6 videos? They don't rank as well in search on TH-cam (I'm working on that) but they have some good info around how to upload. You might find them helpful for when you start up your store. I will be creating more Society6 videos soon 😁 Best of luck for your store, I find it really exciting to check my earnings page since you don't get notified, some mornings I wake up to a couple of sales all earned while I sleep 😁

      you only make 10% of each sell.
      which, in my opinion, is a total ripoff. I don't care if they take care of the printing and shipping. that's straight up thievery. without artists they wouldn't even have a site. they could, at the very LEAST, make it 20-25%.
      that seems a bit more reasonable.

      Hi Shweta, I think POD is still a good option. I am also introverted, which might not come across in my videos. Pinterest could be a good path for you since you don't need to market yourself or have a big following for pins to get good exposure. I have a video coming out soon where I share my marketing strategy for Society6. Ello and Dribbble might also be good places to try :) stay tuned for my video coming out in a few weeks, it will be worth while to you if you do set up a store 😁

    Hi, Thank you for an informative video about Society6.
    So, I recently making account on Society6. But, I have a questions:
    1. I'm not an artist, I do learn graphic design in my collage, Can I still sell my artwork on Society6?
    I make my design from Placeit and Canva.
    2. Can I sell my designs that text based with cartoon not painting or any type of art designs?
    Thank you and sorry for bad English.

    • @DesignbyCheyney
      @DesignbyCheyney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, I am not comfortable answering this question around IP with these programs. My suspicion is no, you may not sell your Canva or Placeit designs because you don't own the commercial rights to the elements or fonts being used in the designs. That being said, I don't actually know. I would check with the platforms to be sure and be very careful about selling things from these platforms unless you pay for the commercial license. I hope this helps.

      @DesignbyCheyney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it isn't technically POD but I treat it like POD. I upload digital downloads so the customer printing does the printing. I don't have to do any shipping or handling and I get full margin (besides the cost of the Etsy listing). I do interact with the customer which is basically the only difference between that at my input for Society6.

    How can we deliver product to buyer??
    They will deliver a item themselves or we have to deliver item to buyer ?? Please tell me ma'am

    • @DesignbyCheyney
      @DesignbyCheyney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nadra, Society6 takes care of all of that for you. They will deliver the item to the buyer. As an artist contributor, you upload artwork to the platform and drive traffic to your store via social media channels, or print, or word of mouth, or however you want to do it and Society6 takes care of the rest. When you make a sale, you don't know the customer or have any access to their information, not even which country they purchase from. So it is very hands off for the artist contributor in terms of manufacturing, shipping, handling, processing payments and customer care. I hope this helps :) Are there any other questions you need answers to?

    UGh. The market saturated. will never make back my ad spend

    • @DesignbyCheyney
      @DesignbyCheyney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where did you spend the money on the ad? I haven’t paid for any advertising but my time is worth money, so in that sense, anytime I invest time, I am inevitably investing money. I find my sales get a little boost when I interact with the community and comment on other user’s artwork I like, get amongst FB groups, follow up someone who has bothered to comment on my work etc. The market is saturated but people are able to stand out with good work and good key wording. You want to get on the first page for your chosen keyword. All the best in the lead up to Christmas, I hope you make some good sales and that your ad spend pays off. Stay tuned for more vids. I have one in my print on demand playlist that I uploaded a few weeks back about how I market my products on Placeit and Pinterest, this is the formula that seems to work for me. Check it out.
