You just saved my life. I’ve been playing smash professionally and I did not know this. I fucking love you. I always thought I was just buffering it too early because the buffer system worked differently for the tilt stick. Sweet
Bro i swear i love you, i knew this was happening but explaining its like a button push really helps. You wont believe how many times in elite smash im stuck looking like a idiot pushing the c stick to have nothing happen and dieing.
Ohhh this explains so much, i was wondering wether my pro controller was broken when doing hero's tilt. I usually hit them with the shield then awkwardly just stood there for a second.
This is most important for multi moves when you have to press a button or flick the c-stick twice such as hero's and snake's f-tilt....I actually didn't realize this. Thx for the info!
This explains a lot. I've lost many stocks because my character just stood there instead of doing the thing I input, and now I know why. To be clear: I don't commonly use combo-heavy characters. Most of the time, it happened when I was messing around online w/ Mac, and nothing would happen after the first up or down tilt.
There's actually a very short lockout time for C Stick inputs, meaning that even if you return it to neutral position, if you input something too quickly using the C Stick, it just won't work. I use a Smash Box, and spamming C buttons doesn't work unless I time the inputs. It's a short enough lockout window that you can still buffer inputs, like you said, so it's not a huge deal if you're completely letting go of the stick.
having to reset your c-stick is what makes stick drift on your right stick so frustrating, i can't spam up tilt using one pair of my joycons! Up tilt damnit, how do i live without spamming that?!
Adding onto what saiko said, if you’re looking for some actually reasonably priced 1st party GameCube controllers, there’re some Japanese imports of the smash ultimate version on amazon right now for about 50 bucks. The cheapest 1st party ones I could find, and I doubt the stock will last.
yeah yall, i switched to new pair ages ago, even a crazy person wouldn't use their drifting controllers if they got a good pair. Thanks for the advice, i recently bought a few old official gc controllers and cleaned em up. New and most second hand first party gc controllers are 80-100 euros over here in the Netherlands currently, (might be less rn since there's restocks in some countries) so i got a pretty good deal! i only use them for emulation and parties anyway, the tv in my room doesn't have hdmi so i can't use an adapter so yeah lmao
@@etriusleovinci6885 figured it out like 5 seconds after I discovered that spamming the c stick doesn't work. You just gotta let go. Spamming ain't necessary cause no move is 1 frame long lmao
@@NinjaGamer820 you've misread my context. Thank god someone else understands this isnt a tech, not that I'm thankful for someone else teaching me something as braindead as this. I too discovered this week 1 of its release, in fact some guy made a video about it. Work around if you want to spam so damn bad is to do tilts the ol' fashioned way.
Ken sometimes can only downtilt after running by using the c stick or else it'll input his crescent kick but you can't flick the c stick for downtilt strings
Awesome video guys !!! I really don't know what to say. I'm not complaining about buffering. I just feel the game could have done input lag better so that buffering wouldn't be as needed for in my opinion basic bread and butter combos
Does anyone know why when inputting the c stick the character will sometimes input in the other direction? I know others have had this happen. It will even happen when I play as Diddy Kong and I will monkey flip in the wrong direction.
Some players may assume it reads like the other joystick does, so they'll think it would be optimal to hold down the c stick so they can start their attack on the earliest frame possible
C. W35T I used to think it was uncomfortable, but I gave it a while, and it became incredibly comfortable and useful. I mainly made the switch because Lucas f tilt got buffed in 4.0.0 and it’s hard to do consistently with the left stick in my opinion, and it became important to be able to perform it consistently. You don’t have to switch, but it’s definitely better to have easy tilts than easy smashes.
Gotta watch this before I get drafted for WW3
Flare THIS MADE ME LAUGH

Oh wow, this explains a lot. Thank you for this vid! I literally thought my controller was not working well like some of the comments mentioned.
I knew this by finding out myself on launch day

Trying to span Ken and Ryu's up and down tilts at max speed with the c stick is literally impossible because of this shit and I hate it

Cheap gc controllers aren't worth it. Either get a good one pros recommend or get a pro controller.
Stop playing with a broken controller then

Much needed. I knew about this but didn't now about the reset solution thanks a lot.
Thank you Trixx! Stay blessed!
I have practiced using the C stick in a lot more situations rather than just the left stick, it has helped me a lot
Yay another tech I need to learn
It's not even really "tech" you can learn. _Just let go of the c-stick._

Just realized this man is jumping with Z
I have a bad habit of not resetting the c stick. I just need to practice it more cause I do moves that don't come out sometimes.
Lol I been doing this on default I didn’t know it was a “advance tech”
It's not an advance tech. Trixx just made sure everyone know that
Well known but definitely important you’re videos are great keep up the work!
Oh thank god I thought my controller was broken.
I also have a few power a wireless gamecube controllers, too. Does this tech work for those, too?

I thought this was common knowledge and that everyone just flicked their stick
Sweet I already do this

Hmm trixx who's your falco player that's like a source of inspiration ?
Maybe keitaro
my inspiration was actually mr danishbuttercookie,
@@MetaTrixx oh really ngl yeah his falco is pretty stylish and good.
What program do I ad for obs stream labs to have button too while streaming or recording?
you need to buy an LLC input viewer to do this, its kind of a big ordeal to get it set up sadly
Uh would this work with joy cons?
But... who doesnt flick the C-Stick already?
Do you stream on Twitch any more?
I streamed last night, but I don't know if its going to be come a thing regularly tbh
Cool video too bad we're all getting drafted
Can you nair with the c stick ?
not on purpose
Mean too or not, answer is yes, with practice you can get it consistantly, nair is preformed by a diagonal input on c-stick.
Returning a stick to neutral isnt a tech.... it's just a tip... what's the next tech? Walking?...
Already did a walking video
