  • We are a family of four living our homestead dream in the city. We are growing most of our produce in our backyard. My hope is to inspire you to start your homestead dream right where you are.

Such abundance of chamomile! I don't know if you do this already but you can throw some of that extra chamomile into the chicken run or in their nesting boxes. it's a calming herb for them as well.

I've been giving my chickens lots of extra chamomile. But I never thought to put some in their nesting boxes. Thanks for the tip.

I saw a video of someone who planted sun flowers spaced out and let them grow to certain height and then they came back and planted tomatoes next to them and used the sunflower as a tomato stake and tied up to them

The radish seed pods are really good in salads and stir fries when pick young and tender.

@jeffpeters4497 I had no idea they were edible! I'll keep that in mind for the future. Two days ago I ended up removing them from the onion bed and giving them to the chickens.

Swiss Chard is a cool weather plant. I don't think they will do well in July and August

Interesting! I grew it all summer last year, but maybe the greenstalk just gets too warm. I'll try to plant some in a more shaded area. Thanks for stopping by.
