Brighter Shores definitely looks like it's designed to be more psychologically engaging than RS and OSRS from a gameplay perspective. Not too grindy and being strategically challenging, while still feeling like a classic MMORPG. It's probably very fun to play without guides, unlike OSRS where you gotta look everything up to keep up with other players. A lot of people won't try this game because they don't like certain "control freak" stuff that Andrew Gower did with Runescape like 20 years ago. But I personally want Brighter Shores to succeed, because it's being made with all the right gameplay psychology in mind, and it's being made for all the right reasons.
Don’t forget art style is what turns most it players away from oldschool RuneScape, just because it looks similar to rs3 don’t let that turn you away. It could be just as good as OSRS but only time will tell 😊
a homebrew engine just means security through obscurity which is not a good best practice. I'm sure there are anti-botting measures implemented but if there is a will there will be a way.
If it's click to move, there will ALWAYS be ways to easily bot unfortunately. Simulating clicks on certain parts of the screen based on image recognition is so easy, you can set one up in like 30 minutes with ChatGPT's help. Not that it's not detectable, but if you spend even more time making it, it will be. I just hope that those who bot won't impact our experience as much as in RS.
Andrew Gower is a game development genius. I'm sure this game will evolve alot from this early access beginning. If you look at Runescape classic, it eventually evolved into OSRS, which is a great game. RS3 would have been one of the best game ever created in my opinion, if it hadn't been destroyed by all the greedy companies and micro transactions, as long as Andrew stays the lead developer in Brighter Shores, I'm sure it will evolve into one of the best MMORPG games in history. Any player that has been with Runescape since the beginning will understand what I'm talking about. I'm excited about Brighter Shores , you can't really judge a game from a few beta testing screenshots, and the little info that has been so far released. I will create my account as soon as the game is released, and I will be excited to see the future development of the game.
It would be nice to try for the fresh start aspect, seeing yourself at the top of the high scores possibly. So far the only announced release is in Q3 of this year, so July at the earliest?
Apart from the black backdrop I don’t mind most of the visual elements. In the end gameplay is king so I’ll give it a chance. Good video I hope to see more of them because this game has promise I believe.
I’m already an RS3 player, but I’ll give BShores a try for sure. I don’t have high hopes for the game though. But I really wanna try achieving something great this time.

Hey Kribus, something you forgot (or maybe didn't know) is that Andrew Gower gave an interview to PC Gamer explaining what he meant by eliminating bots: '"Obviously, you're never going to completely eliminate bots," Andrew Gower told PCG in a recent interview, "so our approach has been more to make it so that they don't negatively impact the game." That means all sorts of things, of course: Gower says the studio has "designed the economy of the game so it's not gonna be broken if lots of people bot," and that "the whole way that instancing works [means] you're not gonna be standing in a chunk and there's tonnes and tonnes of bots all around you." But it also means something a bit more unorthodox: a "legitimate way" of botting the game. Gower says one of the ways Brighter Shores is trying to minimise "grindy gameplay" is with a feature that lets you "set your character to carry on doing [activities] even whilst you're logged out." That means you shouldn't have to spend "hours and hours and hours to get your level up." Instead, you can set your character to get on with the grind while you're away. "You might be doing combat while every night [your character] is doing fishing," or vice versa.' So Brighter shores will provide a way to "skip" grinds by AFKing them for less XP. And since botting does risk a big chunk of time investment going into limbo compared to a legitimate, more slower way to level up skills, most people will feel discouraged to bot.

I'm very excited for brighter shore but I'm a little sad that there wasn't really anything mentioned in this video about runescape 4. I understand that brighter shore could push jagex to building out rs4 but that wasn't mentioned much either. Great video overall. Just a poor title choice. But it did get me to click on the notification so that worked exactly for what it was supposed to I guess.
It's not going to affect Old School RuneScape at all, because OSRS players aren't attracted to it - it will, however, affect RuneScape 3 a lot. If Brighter Shores could live up to what Gower had promised, lots of RS3 players would probably end up leaving RS3 in drove for Brighter Shores. So we would have thriving and active OSRS and Brighter Shores, with a near dead RS3.
This strange board-game aesthetic doesn't do a thing for me, and the idea of being room-to-room cuts off my favorite part of MMOs: the open world. Sounds a bit naive to think that a homebrew engine will stand up against the kinds of reverse-engineering and memory skimming that specialized macros are made of, and generic solutions are getting more sophisticated all the time. Premium-only trading also doesn't filter out the big botters that do it for a living (and on a large scale), just the curious players that don't want to risk much.
It’d be sick if they could offer an account importer - based on your total xp/total lvl/quest points, you get a unique cape or something lol. That’d 100% boost the initial player count for like…no investment. I’d consider it if I were making a new game.

No
Seems boring game but looks better than trash eoc mtx RS3 game. OSRS is still far superior when it comes to contents like raids, inferno and colosseum. I hope Brighter Shores can compete with OSRS in terms of high level pvm content.
this looks terrible. lets be real. lol. its like a dumbed down, super dated, runescape. why is he using this terrible engine. it looks awful. He is stuck in 2002
Looks like a mobile game that will be on pc sorry but pass
Boycott jagex
Fake pop server ded
Awww yes RuneScape copy pasta
No way this isn’t an Ad lmao. You speak as if there’s no negatives to the game
I'm legally obliged to say if this was an AD, otherwise I would risk losing my partnership on youtube. No, this is not an ad, I just really like the look of this game.
Ummmm... wow is sub only and its covered in bots. Membership just means the company will profit off of bots.
Also L for the click to move gameplay. Ppl play osrs for nostalgia any successor to RS needs to abandon the MUD style or youre going to alienate an entire generation of upcoming gamers. Hell i hate click to move but enjoy osrs for the memories.
We are not playing thisb
Oh yes we are
Runescape was his moment of genius. It is just a copy of osrs. He should try to raise money to buy jagex again instead of trying to create the new best mmorpg
The only thing gayer than rs3 is rs4
And osrs
@@Rains-in nah osrs is the only good thing
@@maryjanemj9187 hahahahaha. Botscape?
@Rains-in I play Ironman so doesn't really bother me and bots have existed for most of runescapes history. Hell when I was a kid I botted some lol. It only really matters to people that the care about the in-game economy
@@maryjanemj9187 sad to see that osrs has equal players and bots now. Was never like that in the past with Runescape. And btw rs3 is the original runescape game. Osrs is a replica of our original game. U shouldn’t even be hating.
As an ironman man, sorry i dont want to trade players. Imo this looks shit, and i think itll either take rs3 players or just die or get an overhaul and be back at the drawing board.
Didn't watch the video yet. Answer, no it won't. (But it'll be cool)
