Best strategist and best all court player? Are you including all her titles at the French Open?? 😂😂😂 Martina was a great player but you can't categorize her as best all court player since she never won at the French Open!
For all the bozos criticizing her lack of a French, clay was actually her best surface. In 1997, she suffered a fall from a horse which left her without any practice going into 5e French ( mind you she had just turned 17) and that undermined her confidence in a final she should have easily won over Iva Majoli, and there is no question that the 1999 final against Steffinwas on her racquet and it was a cruel and hostile crowd turning against her that cost her. People forget that Hi his was a child. She was barely 21 when she basically quit, driven out by a very hostile media and an extremely belligerent Richard Williams - these things thankfully would not be tolerated today.
Martina may not have that obvious physical advantage over other players, like height, strength or power etc; but when she plays, you would notice quite convinced that she had a unique feeling of touching tennis and the tennis intuitive. I would say something a bit similar to another all time fav-player Fed. Watching her playing is quite enjoyable. She also brought a tradtional elegance to the stage, not like many young gen-player in court showing stressing, big-grunging.
2:28 This point is amazing, and explains why so many commentators at the end of her career, when she was on her third one, playing only doubles between 2013 and 2017 and retiring as WORLD N°1 aged 37, just 20 years after the 1st time she became world n°1 in doubles (a record gap), why commentators from all around the world kept on saying she was surely the best volleyer ever.
After Steffi Graf retired, I loved Martina Hingis!! She was so up and about the court, knowing where to put her shots and such a lovely smile always even after a defeat
Martina is one of the most gifted tennis players ever. Had a great success in singles at such a young age. Then, she went to be the best double player ever. She managed to win Slams with muliple different partners like a walk in a park.
Wow, what a crazy stat that I was totally ignoring about Martina (and Leander in this case): 1st pair to win 3 of the 4 Slam titles of mixed doubles in one season since... 1969, so, since 46 years. WOW! 😲
She is literally the reason i started playing tennis at 19 yo (back in 1999 when i saw her beat Venus in USO semis). I did not know tennis could be played the way she played. I was in total awe.
c'est votre avis, moi j'aime le style de jeu de Hingis, je sais pour le palmarès de Serana Williams et ce n'est pas un critère @@NotSettlingForSecondBest
5:06: Aged 17, Hingis wins here her first US OPEN women's doubles title, not 1st women's doubles title. She won many other doubles (and single) titles before, including Slams. If we talk only about Slam titles, she owns the record (like ALL the records of precocity of the History of tennis) of youngest ever to win 1 of them, when she was only 15. But the most interesting thing about this particular point is that it's the point that made her complete the doubles GRAND SLAM, aged 17, youngest ever of course, and she was already single's and doubles' world n°1 (in single since the year before, aged only 16, when she did the Small Slam, winning 3 of the 4 Slam tournaments & she played the 4 finals.
Had a big crush on her back in the day and probably still. She was so adorable and fun to watch. The best player of her day in my opinion she might have had a run like Evert or Navritalova with wooden rackets and healthier ankles. She had some tough competition coming up when her injuries started. Still a Hall of Fame career earned before she was old enough to drink in most US states.
Pretty funny, I didn't remember she won the US open women's title with one of the Chan sisters before to beat the other sister (with who the 1st sis was pairing since many years before she left her sis for Hingis) in the mixed double's final. 🙃😀
9:35 And just a few weeks after this doubles double titles at the US Open, she retired for the 3rd and last time, after the final of the Masters, as... WORLD N°1 again, 20 years after the 1st time she became it in doubles.
What is number 8 supposed to be? One thing for sure: something that doesn't belong in a so called "top ten moments" and worse, considerably reduces anyone's willingness, patience wise, to make it to the end of this thing.
Best strategist and best all-court player. Probably best volleyers in her generation
Henin was a better all-court player and her volleys were excellent. Also had a better serve.

@@23EcheoAll court player does not mean "all surface player" lol
@@fundhund62 she's def not the best all court player and fake surface player! Poor thing never won a French Open title 😂😂😂

Hingis is unique. She has a great hand, touch and great net skill. sad that her peak time in single was too short.
The best!!!
Martina Hingis, la tenista más completa en la historia del tennis....no ha habido ninguna como ella❤
My all time favourite Martina Hingis ❤
She could be the greatest of all time if she dont get problems after paris 99 love her to❤
One of a kind player!
Always loved watching Martina play! Sometimes waking up in the middle of the night to watch her matches! 💛🎾

Amazed to find out she was still balling it just a few years ago.

The other (better) Martina is the greatest doubles player ever. She won a US Open mixed doubles title at 50. Case CLOSED!
Martina Hingis She's an extraordinarily top tennis player. 🎾😯And an extraordinarily subtle person.
Was she?
The queen of the gentle tennis and net mastery!!!

How did you feel about the final?

Amazing player! Her intelligence and touch were second to none.
Hingis e Serena Williams foram as melhores que eu vi. Sou apaixonado pela qualidade de jogo e pela beleza da suiça desde essa época.
I dont know how can she beat massive player power...single..double..mix double...incredible
elle était la meilleure joueuse de sa génération, classe et intelligence en jeu
Non, je ne pence pas... comparez les carrières d'elle et Serena Williams. IL n'y a pas de comparaison.

Hingis’ 1997 run to the US open title is one of the most dominant display of tennis ever.
She's indeed a legend!

The smiling assasin😊
She was the first women who beat both Williams sister in one tournament
The best player ever...
Are these Hingis' selections? I would think she would've had more singles matches in there.

how wonderful memroy!
The winner of the singles makes $3 million and the winner of the mixed doubles split 150,000. Something is wrong with that.
Because people rarely watch doubles
If Martina Hingis is happy of what she is doing,I am happy for her too
Most dramatic tennis match ever
She has a seperate fan base in india 🇮🇳
