      And she was right in her reasoning to call the supervisor. That umpire doesn't know his job or the rules.

    10. i can see both players sides, fernandez has the right to be upset that zheng was talking to her box, but i understand the frustration from zheng
    9. bad sportsmanship from kalinskaya, the point should have been replayed
    8. tough call but i’ll side with kenin because players know what conditions are good for them (to avoid possible injury)
    7. i mean what was zheng thinking? that was just terrible sportsmanship.
    6. penko doing penko things tbh. nothing more nothing less.
    5. umpire completely in the wrong, gauff was treated terribly during this interaction.
    4. it was a close call, but zheng was right with hawkeye confirming.
    3. everyone saw the double bounce i don’t know how this mistake happened…
    2. another example of poor sportsmanship from putintseva
    1. the umpire was right but i understand why gauff was defensive especially after dubai.

      I remember watching those matches against Fernandez and Sabalenka. At first it seemed like a weird quirk when she yelled at Fernandez box and Fernandez lost her temper and the match exactly from that point onward. When you feel distracted (like you might hit a linesman swinging your racquet and you wouldn’t want that to happen right?) your movements would be limited and you will do everything to try to get that ball back on play. Watch other Tennis tournaments, when in play linesman move back really far. These guys were close.

I'll concede that given how close it was and perhaps some of the detail lost between frames it was hard to tell if the ball bounced twice before or after it was played, but it definitely bounced twice, so either it bounced twice before it was played or it was played into the ground. I really don't understand why we have to keep on having incidents like the one with the late (and incorrect) call on the Gauff serve. We already have challenges, we already have replays, so why not just have someone, the match supervisor perhaps, review the point and determine if the call came before or after the player had played the ball and/or whether or not the player's shot was impacted by the call?..... If for no other reason than it would be a hell of a lot faster than a 5min argument between a player and the umpire.

    it's really funny, if these players were playing squash giving the referee this much shit they would all forfeit the match in 5 minutes. It's amazing how much tennis umpires have to put up with (and how little authority they apparently have).

      it was a let call from the other court but Hunter tought it was from their court, so she stopped playing lol

  • @1158scott
    @1158scott 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    What is Kalinskaya supposed to do ?? The umpire is not going to allow a do over & has called the score. Does Hunter expect her to intentionally lose a point when the previous point would have been undecided ??

    • @TrentRidley
      @TrentRidley 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There have been lots of cases where a wrong call has been made or something deemed unfair occurs where the benefiting player calls for the point to be replayed and the umpire grants it, so yeah, she could have called for the point to be replayed. Hunter clearly stopped playing after the call, with spookily uncanny timing, came from the adjacent court. I personally wouldn't want to win a point in that manner and would have asked that the point be replayed.

    • @1158scott
      @1158scott 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In decades I have NEVER seen a point replayed after the score has been called because of calls on other courts. Umpires are only to reverse a called score under EXTREMELY rare circumstances of a serious rule error or blatant hindrance. If they're playing around other matches, with other umpires, it's incumbent in the player to be alert or this kind of thing could be happening multiple times on multiple courts, & reversing scores for sounds from other courts is not the extreme, rare, occurrence to take action over & over again.

    Now I know that Sofia Kenin is a dramatic person. She has bad attitude. And because of that, although she won 1 GS title her career quickly deteriorated. Attitude is everything. Here are some players whose good performance didn't last due to bad attitude: Jelena Ostapenko, Eugenie Bouchard, Bianca Andreescu and now, Sofia Kenin.
