Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games description:
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is a 2009 sports and party game developed by Sega. Like its predecessor, it was published by Nintendo for Japan and Korea and by Sega in the Western world. The game is officially licensed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through exclusive license International Sports Multimedia. The game is the third official crossover title to feature characters from both Mario and Sonic's respective universes, the first and second being the game's predecessor Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Super Smash Bros. Brawl respectively. It was released on the Wii and the Nintendo DS in October 2009, and is the first official video game of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Mario & Sonic on the Wii and DS is a collection of events based on the Olympic Winter Games. Players can assume the role of a Mario or Sonic character while competing against the others in these events. The game features all of the playable characters that were present in its predecessor, as well as four new characters.
A third installment, named Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, was released for the Wii in November 2011 and on the 3DS in February 2012.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games retains the gameplay mechanics of its predecessor, controlling an on-screen character through authentic Olympic events with the specific tailored controls for the Wii and DS. Unlike its predecessor, some of the events in the Wii game can use the Balance Board accessory, but it is not a requirement.
All of the playable characters from the previous game return in addition to four new characters. It has been announced via the Nintendo Channel, that this game will have WiiConnect24 capability and the player can use their Miis in-game. A new feature added to the player's Mii is the ability to customize the Mii's clothes.
The sequel introduces a Festival mode in the Wii version that allows the player to make their way through the entire Olympic Games, from opening ceremony to closure. The multiplayer mode offers "co-op and competitive gameplay" whereas the DS version will use its wireless capabilities. The DS counterpart has "Adventure Tours" where players can accept quests and challenge bosses and to stop Dr. Eggman and Bowser before they can stop the Olympics by kidnapping the Snow Spirits. DS Download Play is possible for those without an individual copy of the game.
My channel generally focuses on a more casual side of speedruns. With these videos I want to show off cool speedruns, explain how they work, and entertain. Hopefully you enjoy the content and maybe even take up speedrunning yourself, because it is truly a lot of fun!

You can all use the cheat engine speedhack feature to speed up games, not for speedruns necessarily, but just to make them more enjoyable, or to speed through unskippable cutscenes.
Mario galaxy speedruns are super fun. The devs seemed to forget that backflips and triple jumps exist when designing the levels and the gravity mamipulation is satisfying.
I think a Mario Galaxy speed run would be fun to watch

To get extra points during figure skating you have to shake in time with the music

24:40 Is actually based off of the Special Stages in Sonic Heroes. Also, the monster you fought at 23:27 is a frozen version of Perfect Chaos, the final boss of Sonic Adventure.
Also the beginning and ending of the special stage level takes place in the Nocturnus Base. From SONIC CHRONICLES of all games. I wonder if Ken knows about that and how he feels. He probably hates it.
@@beatziegraham6928 I had to do a quick wiki check to remind myself where Egg Factory (Relay Skating) was from, and had to do a double take when it didn't say Special Stage (Sonic Heroes) for Dream Bobsleigh

The ds version has such a great story mode,but I've never been able to beat it because the Eggman/bowser boss is so long,and if you lose one you have to start over.that would be fine if one of the challenges wasn't the game I suck at the most-

26:47 it's not a ice hockey game by itself but Mario Sports Mix has a story/game mode dedicated to ice hockey. It's super fun, one of my favorite childhood games. I loved dodgeball the most though
I vouch for this, I'm not sure if it'd be good speedrun material but in general if you haven't, give the game a chance, it's very fun!
Mario Sports Mix is such a fun game I would love to see a speedrun of it. My disk has been failing somewhat and I haven't had time to find a new one online, but I love the entire game, and the playable characters are so fun

This is the best Olympic Games version in my book. There’s just so many assets referencing both games that makes this one feel a much more collaborative than the 2020 one which wasn’t bad by any means, but it did draw much less influence from other games

If you mess up the last spin of the sonic dream skating, Chaos is still alive and just sits there like "dude... you good?"
1. In Figure Skating, you get bonus points when the shake follows the beat of the music
2. That last-second Ice Hockey goal would not count in real life ice hockey. When the buzzer sounds, the puck has to be in the net
3. Those star coins in team Dream Events give everyone the Super Star effect when you collect the number equal to the number of team members
4. Dream Snowboard Cross takes place on Radical Highway from Sonic Adventure 2
5. Those special shots in Dream Ice Hockey all lost time, because they trigger a cutscene

As a previous runner of this game (specifically the story "festival" mode as my main category) it's cool to see this on a big channel! I would definitely recommend this speedgame if you like wiimote precision (oxymoron I know), it's a lot of fun to grind the events with their cool tech in a complete run (as well as ILs). Would love if more people got into this game.
The weird Bobsled mini game is a Sonic Heroes Reference. The mini game to get the Chaos Emeralds on that game is exactly the same, except the vehicle part

I am the former world record holder for this game's main category, and also the first ever person to get a sub 1:40 in said category. Despite this, I am near the bottom of the rankings of this speedrun as well as All Olympic Events and All Dream Events
This was the first game we got on our family Wii. I played dream short track religiously as a child, and still vividly remember just about every other minigame
For me, I played dream snowboard cross over and over again. Always went on the bridge rails at that section

lmao I did curling through my childhood and I'm just happy whenever I see it on screen pucks or not 😂 The reason why they are doing that is because it's using real world strats where the team going last wants to score a bunch of points but keep the middle open to keep their options open late into the game.

This game was my childhood. I always went to my cousin’s house for our grandma to take care of us and we played that all day along with other Wii games.

i LOVED this game so much. i spent hours on it with my sister when we were kids, and neither of us knew who any of the sonic characters were, but she always chose blaze and i always chose amy
we would also get into fights over who would get to play as peach and daisy (we both liked peach more)

dude. i LOVE how Most of the Sonic-based Dream Courses were basically pre 06 era, they were more or less my childhood!
also the bobsled at 24:40 is more or less the Sonic Heroes Special stages with the same "boost" gimmick and (thankfully) better controls
The creativity in references on display in the dream events is just crazy.
i literally grew up with this game, i would play this almost everyday as a kid, (as well as the ds version i had) i still have the wii version and it will always remain as my favorite M&S olympic games :)

oh, that "dream hockey" event reminds me of an old SNES game i played once, called something like "looney tunes basketball".
all the characters had silly tricks they could do, like Bugs Bunny dressing up like a girl to distract everyone, Yosemite Sam shooting at the other character's feet, and so on.
Honestly a Mario Sports Mix speedrun would be really fun to watch.

In curling, you go first twice because you won the end! The loser of the previous end gets the hammer, which is just a fun name for the last rock thrown (stone is also acceptable but most people will say rock) in the end, precisely because it gives that team an advantage!

I find it amusing that you can freely put Mario and Sonic characters on the same teams. It's not Team Mushroom Kingdom versus Team Mobius, it's two teams composed of groups who ate lunch together today.
I would absolutely love a Mario Galaxy speedrun! I played it so many times as a child and nowadays i "speedrun" it myself. I'm not timing anything just trying to go through the game as quickly as I can :D

I love this game so much I think it was my most played switch game out of every game that released on switch. I hope they remaster it and put it on switch or switch 2 this game was so good playing it as a child and still fun to play today
