Thanks for this video, it's great to see this kind of reply that covers this entire insanity with some actual intelligence, well thought out, and properly informed insights, and critics to Amandla. I seriously wanted to like her as an actress after her role as Rue in Hunger Games, but ever interview since then, and now Acolyte and her ridiculous 'victim' video where she literally says 'my people'. I'm sorry but i am so sick of people putting what 'label' someone is ahead of everything else about that person.
Amandla, and Disney execs for that matter, at least the execs and the Director of Acolyte and the new Rey movie, that side of Disney specifically, i really am sick of them deciding who gets what job, or acting role first and foremost by seeing what boxes they check on 'race', 'gender', etc.
It doesn't matter how amazingly talented you are, how intelligent or brilliant you are, doesn't matter if you are a genius story telling, or writer, it even doesn't matter what your sense of right and wrong is, nor your ethics, or what kind of strength of character you possess, they care not at all what is your charisma like on screen, or whether you can act and emote difference emotions in front of the camera, they seem to literally not care if you have any record showing an ability to do your job and handle the role you are being given and paid millions for, nor your ability to work with a team, none of that, any of it, matters.... compared to...

For instance as much 'inclusion' in the Acolyte, did you notice there are definitely specific races not included ever in any of the Disney shows?
But if you are black, Asian, Hispanic, etc then hey, you're hired no matter what your experience is at directing a $180 million dollar film, heck you don't even have to have directed a normal hollywood film or even a decent indie film, it literally doesn't matter that you have a proven track record at writing a successful tv show, or film.
And then Amandla who has literally said that this entire show was 'written for her', has the nerve to write a 'dis track' to the entire star wars fan base, and every single white person, explaining how 'her people' have been repressed for 400 years and she is 'tired of it', she is 'tired of feeling repressed herself', and 'her struggle which say literally says she has been part of for 400 years'. Amandla's struggle, has been just as hard as all the people who lived through the Jim Crow era, and how hard her life has been is in the same league as Tamir Rice, Oscar Grant, or Eric Garner trying to sell single cigarettes to make a living.... meanwhile her father was literally a white man, Danish, so literally her 'people' are half Viking.
I do believe Amandla has faced racism in her life, you can't have skin as dark as her's is sadly, and probably not faced racism in some form or another, even just worried about specific situations you may have had to think about and act differently then if you would not have to worry about such things, but sadly the last few decades in America, sadly there is still a very real and sadly sometimes fatal amount of racism still very much healthy in parts of America, and especially online. However, to compare her privileged life to the life that some black north American families face every day, is really hard to stomach. To have the nerve to put her 'blight' as one of the most privileged actresses in the world, given one of the most coveted acting roles in the entire world, paid in millions, and to suggest that because she and her show are getting bad reviews, that somehow she is in the same struggle as some one Tamir Rice, or the same as some single mother trying to make ends meat to feed her two kids, because their father was put into jail because of racist cops planting, or even just charging them for having weed, when a white 20 year old of the exact same age would likely have been given a 'warning', or never even stopped and searched in the first place, etc. It makes me sick, there are real struggles going that need someone who has all the privilege and platform she has to lend them a voice, to help their situation immensely, but do you think she is going to take 72hrs to make a song about some family in desperate need of a hand, or just a chance, etc. Nope, cause she is so wrapped in her own 'virtue signaling' that she is going to pretend that her getting legit reviews on rotten tomatoes is the 'struggle' of the black woman going on for 400 years... It really does upset me that someone so disconnected from real people's hell, thinks that 'white people need to cry' because they don't have empathy until Amandla came along to show them what empathy is... the savior of all white people who lack empathy apparently... but of course she didn't bring race into this discourse... it was the evil journalists, including apparently her mom, and the 85% of online magazines and news outlets that all seem to have been paid by Disney to write how Amandla is single handedly saving star wars from being nothing but fans who are all nazi's and are review bombing rotten tomatoes... cause that is the only way they can explain how all the people that Disney actually is paying in China to positive review bomb the show are being out numbered....

The thing about Star Wars, the first movie, is that even if you ignore the obvious things, like the movie being filmed in England (which explains the all-white extras, England was still insanely white in the 70s), is that there are like four characters who aren't Space Nazis.

Yeah, there's a reason the rest of the world calls us Amerimutts, lol. It's kind of inevitable to have one or two ancestors of another race when the population demographics are so varied.

Honestly the fact that we are mutts is probably part of the reason we tend to still categorize people by skin tones. Off the top of my head my ancestry is German, French, maybe some English given my surname. I would guess ancestry is even harder to determine for descendants of slaves. At least without people doing ancestry tests.
Those are just black Americans. One drop rule is mostly for blacks because it takes multiple generations to actually look White. 99% of White Americans don’t have a single drop of foreign blood though.
