I bought the Ruger SR 22 last year after putting about 75 rounds through it I was at the range and the safety broke. It just came right off the gun. I hadn’t had the gun more than a few weeks. I called Ruger they sent me a free box to ship it back with, completely overhauled and fixed the gun and sent it back to me at no cost. You are correct, they do have excellent customer service.
I love my TX22 -- put 500 rounds through it over this past weekend and I won't say that it ran flawlessly, but I haven't come across a 22LR that does.... That being said, the ease of shooting this pistol, its accuracy (I was getting nice tight groupings at various distances from 5 yards through about 30 yards ), the nice and large 16 round magazine capacity, and the ease of takedown / cleaning after coming back from the range -- this little pistol cannot be beat! Great buy, and I am glad I picked it up.
I absolutely LOVE my new TX-22!!!! I've put over 650 rounds thru it, after today. Not ONE SINGLE PROBLEM, OF ANY KIND. Shot a whole box of the Federal 550 bulk, then 100 36g HP Mini Mags. This gun is perfection. Can't think of anything that I don't like about it. It's best quality(besides being 100% reliable) is probably the trigger reset. Wow. It's just sweet.
I purchased a TX 22 about two weeks ago I own several 22 caliber handguns TX 22 it’s just a pleasure an amazing gun 600 rounds zero problems!! Amazing amazing ..
Taurus is made cheap. Ruger has been a brand of good quality in every one I've seen. I see a lot of taurus sent to the manufacturer and the gun smith. You're making the SR22 more difficult than it needs to be.
Some people knock Taurus for being Taurus. I submit that Ford once made the PINTO and the company survived to make F-150's you will see one today (if you leave your house). I own two Taurus firearms to include the TX22. Both of my Taurus firearms are in my EDC rotation along with a Glock and a Beretta. This gun is the Best .22 hand gun I have ever fired. I am not brand loyal, I carry guns that I shoot well and go bang and go straight when I pull the trigger.
I have 2 G2C'S and a G3. And just got a TX22. I would never let anyone train with the sr22 unless it's the only handgun they own. The stupid safety is upside down. This could get someone killed
My wife and I had the Ruger SR22. She kept and loves her SR22. As for me, I traded my SR22 for the Taurus TX22. Quick review: the SR22 is a great gun. But, too small for my hands. The TX22 feels right, therefore, I can shoot it accurately. Both gun are reliable and shoot almost any ammo with no problems.
I have the tx22 and shoots great. Have about 2000 rounds so far using several types of ammo. I just purchased the sr22 but haven’t been to range with it but will soon in next few days. Also have the ruger lcp 2 in 22lr. Have a ton of fun shooting the 22lr.
I love my SR22 also but it is definitely worth mentioning that the safety operates opposite of the safeties on every other handgun that I've ever shot. Standard is: up is safe, down is fire. The SR22 is opposite and I'm not sure why Ruger would do that. It creates confusion for a new shooter and could cause confusion in a stressful situation for even an experienced shooter. Thanks for a very fair and thorough review/comparison.
Denny Crowell it’s really not a safety it’s a decocker. It can function as a safety but if you are carrying it defensively the kydex holsters are all cut for the lever to be in the off position.
@@jeremyjeremy8795 thanks for the input. I'm not very familiar with handguns with decockers, do they all function like the SR22? Up allows the gun to fire and down decocks the hammer and disables the trigger? Thanks
@@dennycrowell7196 Yep Denny , that dead trigger is a safety feature. Some don't like it but I like it adding another step to make sure the gun doesn't fire when you don't want to like cleaning the gun.
I will add to the warranty comments, my TX22 had a snag in the trigger pull that was equal to the actual break for the striker. Sent it in and it was fixed and returned within a weeks time. They covered shipping both ways. Kudos to Taurus. I and everyone else knows Rugers customer service in an industry best. Bar none. Taurus has been as good for me as well. I now have 2 TX22's.
@@gunsaccessories8853 I now own 7 TX22`s I teach CWP classes in SC. I supply the guns in class. We have been using these for over a year with no issues. 24 students a class. All shoot 50 rounds. That's a lot of ammo through them.
Already have the SR22 and have gone over 10k round count eating everything even different brands of ammo in the same magazine with few hiccups. Really Runs great. My comparison was between the TX22 and a MarkIV. After watching lots of reviews and shooting each there was no comparison. Mark IV a clear Winner, SR22 Place and TX22 Show. Thanks for a well presented video. SF
I have 2 of the sr22's and have used them in ccw classes for practice and qualification for hundreds of students. They run great and are really accurate. I love the gun.
2021 , the tx22 is $320 and the Ruger $475. after using and disassembling both firearms the Ruger is Superior in quality and craftsmanship however I went with the tx22 due to cost and magazine capacity/performance. I would also like to note that Torres has fantastic customer service and a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner
I had the same problem with dry firing destroying my SR22 barrel. So much material was peened over the round did not even feed. Most of my dry firing was using a drywall anchor as a snap cap. Ruger replaced both the barrel and the slide and paid for shipping both ways; The service was also fast -- about 1 1/2 weeks including shipping.
Weird though. To be dry fire safe you'd think it would be designed so that the firing pin didn't touch any metal at all when dry firing. Otherwise you're destroying your firing pin even if it doesn't mark the barrel.
they're both great 22s. One is a great training tool for full size handguns and the other is a great training tool for subcompact and microcompact handguns.
Full size? The TX is around the size of a Glock 19... Anyway, I have both of these (had the Ruger for many years) and for me - the Taurus is easily the better of the two. The SR is a great little 22 but the TX is next level
@@dilldowschwagginz2674 in the age of micro double stacks, I consider a glock 19 full size. I wouldn't put the SR22 and the TX22 in the same category of size at all. The ruger mark iv is more comparable to the tx22 than the sr22
I just ordered a Taurus TX-22 and my price complete even with the $20 transfer fee to my FFL was $200 even. But that included a $50 manufacturers rebate from Taurus. So my total cost from Grabagun was about $230 plus the $20 transfer fee is $250. But with the Taurus manufacturer's rebate it brought it back down to $200.
Once I adjusted the Ruger SR22 sights, it was dead nuts on. My only gripes are the grip panel is always sliding around & the trigger disconnect. So far, the TX22 has no issues. But I need to put more rounds through it.
I have the TX22 and I very pleased. I didn't feel the need for another22lr...until Taurus came out with the competition. I'm now interested in the longer barrel. What a wonderful pistol this is.
These are exactly the two I'm down to in my selection. Thanks for the excellent comparison. I believe I'll be going with the Ruger. It's size is closest to my CCW and I like the idea of practicing cheaply with the .22 for a while, then finish up with my 9mm. I like the decocker/safety personally. I'll check both the Taurus and Ruger out at the store to seal the decision. Thanks again!
The 10 round argument does hold weight in all the states where the 16 round mag is illegal. You have to forsake the 16 round mags as they will be confiscated before you see the gun then you have to find mags legal in your state...if you can. Overall a great review/comparison, thanks.
Really great, thorough review. New shooter here, just waiting for my license in the mail. I was pretty much set on going for the S&W M&P22 but found out it’s discontinued and figured parts would become an issue down the road. Then figured the SR22 was the way to go, but then saw so many amazing reviews on the TX22. Definitely have to get a feel for them in the store, but kind of leaning towards the TX at this point. Can’t wait to get shooting!.
Barrel issues on earlier TX 22s put thousands of Consumers in line to wait for new Barrels ! Now I hear slide cracks are an issue ! Taurus should invest in Quality Control in the factory instead of letting consumers find their faults ! Bad for reputation ! Brand name goes down the tubes. In a life / death situation reliability is the key ! Bought a Ruger SR22 specifically for reliability & its size for concealed carry. Also the mags are metal not polymer.
@@ag4allgood I bought my TX-22 a month ago and finally went to the range Sunday. I fired 300 flawless rounds. Could I have issues in the future? Of course I can. I have yet to read of a .22lr that is trouble free. Fire and keep a gun long enough and you will run into some issue. Go to any forum and any maker and I can guarantee you there will be some folks upset with that gun/maker. I now have a Tx22 and GX4 that I really enjoy along with my Glocks.
@@paulcarlin5181 22LR ammo alone is a problem. It varies from manufacturer to another manufacturer. Even if the gun is reliable the ammo can be suspect. I like my TX 22 & it has fired every round I have loaded. Besides that it feels great in the hand. As the years go by the guns get a reputation. After a rocky start the Taurus TX 22 will be up there with the best semi auto 22LRs I have no doubt. The Ruger SR22 is smaller better for CCW. I have a Sig P365 with the Lima green laser for CCW also. There is a kick to that 9 mm P365. My 2 22LR pistols are easier to control & have better accuracy with fast fired follow up shots. With a new follower in the Ruger magazine it holds 13 shots Vs the 16 for the unmodded TX 22 magazine. My range pistols are the 2 22LR caliber target pistols. I am accurate with either one all rounds fired as fast as I can pull the trigger. I have to say with the Sig P365 after the 1st shot the following rounds are way less accurate. In a life / death situation I'd rather have my Ruger SR22 over my Sig P365 because I'm better with it. When it comes to the ammo though the 9mm is way more reliable.
i have both. I feel the Taurus is way better. Far superior trigger. More capacity and accurate as hell. I am way more accurate with the taurus than I do the ruger. Of course the barrel length makes a big difference. the TX22 feels like a full sized 4" where the ruger has a more smaller toy feel in comparison. Both shoot any ammo.
Good review. The SR-22 safety is also a decocker if you like that. Any price difference would most likely be made up if you were to trade or sell it if the TX22 is typical of past Taurus models. You should mention the second strike capability of the SR-22 as rimfire ammo tends to need a second strike often.
Wow that's a huge point I didn't even think about, in the Taurus if you have a round not fire (which isn't super rare in .22s,) you have to rack the slide to be able to fire again, whereas the SR22 will restrike the same round again. That's pretty important
Got the TX for my wife and we had the same issues with ammo...range ammo seems to cause a lot of double feeds and FTEs; switching to CCI made all the difference
I never could decide witch one I liked better so I did what any responsible gun nut would do I bought both!!!! lol 😂 and have never regretted buying either one bouth great guns 👍👍👍
The tx22 seems to be the best .22 lr pistol. I have multiple .22 lr handguns and rifles, none of them even come close to matching its reliability. It is not like it's the most accurate. 22 pistol ever made, but it is plenty accurate. My mkIV is way more accurate, but it is super picky on ammo and is not really a good training analog for a fighting handgun. I used the tx22 to teach my girlfriend and her best friend the basics of pistol marksmanship and then after they both got about 300 rounds through it we moved up to a 9mm and it only took them about half a mag of 9mm to get the hang of the recoil and go right back to the fundamentals. Even though 22 long rifle is not ideal in a gunfight I do I feel like if you had to stake your life on a 22 handgun the tx22 would be a good choice.
Nice review I like my Ruger SR-22 .Member of my family Just got their permits and going to buy the Ruger SR-22 They just came here to see my firearms and compared the Smith&Wesson MP22 Compact and liked the grip feel of the Ruger SR-22
Nice comparison. That’s interesting about your breech face from dry firing. There are places you can buy a threaded barrel for the SR22 for less than $90
I actually like the SR22, but head to head I have to give it to the Taurus. The TX22 IMO, is the best 22LR for the money. I'd choose the TX22 over any of the 22lr pistols I have shot. Have a nice weekend!!
I traded my S&W Compact 22lr but not willing to drop another $350 for another one. Taurus TX22 will be my next range plinker. Thanks for the detailed video.
I was planning a S&W model 41 however I think the TX 22 is a better value. Probably not as accurate but that’s ok with me. 16+1 and the ease of my kids to shoot it is priority.
Me My Wife and Sister in-law all bought SR22S about the same time My Wifes is polished silver over black Sister in-laws is all black and mine is black over silver. Mine was the only one that came with optical front sight. Taurus got a bad rap when they first came out. They have come a long way. Nice guns at affordable price.
Just got me the new tx22 competition model... cant wait to take it to the range. Ordered up a Sightmark red dot sight for it as well.. mmmmm... freedom 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I had my sr22 for about 6 years and I have dry fired the heck out of it; thousands of times. I looked at the barrel and there's nothing ;no damage at all. It probably was a problem with that batch of barrels metallurgy .
Owned the SR22 for about 2 years now. Between my 3 boys and I we have put well over 10k rounds through it. Zero issues. I now carry the SR22 with me because it's been so reliable. I honestly don't remember it ever having an issue other than cheap ammo not firing. Maybe 1 out of 200 rounds with cheap stuff. Good ammo has never been issue for my SR22. Remember, 22lr is dirty!! Clean your firearms
The SR-22 def looks like a higher quality gun, but hard for me to get one after having my Tx-22 and use to 16 rounds. If my Tx-22 was unreliable, I would consider but that is not the case with mine.
I had both before losing them in a boating accident and loved both of them. Never had a failure that wasn't ammo related. But it seems the Taurus had fewer of them. But the Ruger's double action usually made it to bang the second pull of the trigger. Plus the 16 round capacity of the TX22 is very nice. It also fits my hand like a glove. And if the glove fits, you must not acquit!
I have the SR22 and cannot believe that after a few thousand rounds I have had zero issues. Not one stove pipe or failure to eject. Admittedly I have no experience with the TX22.
I’ve owned both but now I just have the TX 22. Both are top notch pistols but I prefer the TX only because I have relatively big hands and the SR is essentially a 3 finger grip for me. Also, I like the extra magazine capacity of the TX.
Great video! I love the SR22, until I bought the TX22. 1400 rounds ant one hiccup. The two reasons I switched to the Tarausis 17 in the gun and larger grip, fits my hand perfectly
Good review. Thanks. In 22lr pistols I have the SR22, P22, Mark IV, Beretta 92FSR, SW M&P Compact and the TX22 but my SW Victory is heads above them in all aspects except take down. The one I have that tops all of them is my 1954 Colt Match Target.
I have a bunch of 22 pistols and went out a couple of weeks ago to do some shooting at an outdoor range. It was butt cold. The only pistol that functioned without any kind of hitch whatsoever was the Ruger SR22. I was totally impressed. It was already my go to 22 pistol.
My TX I have ran everything I could through it even some ammo that when fired looked like I was shooting blackpowder and has been flawless. Love the feel on the grip right from the start. No issues or regrets.
Thé 22 arena has been pretty uninteresting for years the Kel-Tec and the Taurus decided to do what should have been done since calico did it make a fun 22. 10 round 22s are like dropping out of high school in the tenth grade and being satisfied with what that will provide. Happily???
The sr22 has awesome ergonomics and works like a champ. It’s one of my favorite pistols and this is coming from someone who shoots a $1500 Walther PPQ Q5 match.
Very well compared. Taurus really seems to have gotten a lot right with this one. Both are really good options. I would take either over my P22Q. Not my Ruger 22/45 Lite though.
Taurus have a bad reputation, but I've got 3 of their firearms, and had no issues. 85 snub nose, PT92, and G2C. Maybe it's a persistent reputation from early on.
Chris Lucas that’s true. The early ones were actually made in the Brazilian factory tooled for the Beretta so it’s darn close to identical except the non slide mounted safety which is my preference anyway.
i can see you love RUGER from your video. i still learned some pro and con tho. so thanks thumbs up I want both guns from this review. tx22 first for me
really happy with my sr22. I believe it would make a great holdout gun to stash for shtf. great match for the takedown and it even has it's own pocket in the bag. sr22 wins!
SR22s here. I wore one out and Ruger replaced it. Then got the kids each one. I’ll probably get a few more because I like the color options. To me, the only thing that the TX is bringing to the table is the mag capacity and there are mods for the Ruger for that. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how the CP33 fairs.
You just need to shoot a TX22. Totally change your perception. I'm not a Taurus fan by any stretch of the imagination but I have to admit that their TX22 is outstanding. Easily the best gun that company has ever produced. I also have an SR (2 actually) and they're good but the TX is just better
Ruger and glock both dropped the ball coming out with 10 rd mags. Terrible marketing mistake. Choose the taurus or keltec 16 rounders anyway. I have a drawer full of 22 handguns, but buying a TX if I can find one.
Thanks for the review. I just got my tx22 and put 500 rds thoughit yesterday not 1 malfunction. I have a 22 conversation kit for my cz p07 that I have put 4500 rds though in the last month and its great also with only ammo related issues.
Really wanting to get one of these firearms for my wife. I think she would like the SR22 because it is a bit smaller but I like what I’m seeing from the TX. I’m stuck here!
@@erebostd I wouldn't say that. The three main ones on the market that are dead even,(besides a few personal preference like mag cap and site pic,) are the TX, Sr and M&P. Glock screwed up the G44 so it's out. For the price you can't beat the TX. You can get as low as $200+tax. Average of $250+tax. The Taurus is more user friendly so I'd go for that. I bought it for the mag cap and it has been excellent. Ruger is good but over complicated for a gun noob and the MP22 can be had in full size or compact and is as easy to service as the TX. Personal preference. Mine isn't to pay more for a gun I get equal service from unless I just love the way it looks. Like why I'd buy a desert eagle 357 over a reliable Glock for instance
I live in NY and until the Taurus comes out with a 10 round mag (NYS safe act limits no mags larger than 10 rds.) its all about my SR-22 for now and by the way I love it !
@@richardoliver1468 it may be available in 10 rounds, but can you get it without a threaded barrel? NY/NJ prohibits threaded barrels on handguns. I'm in the same situation as OP in New Jersey.
@@redbeardnj yes, there are versions without threaded barrels avaliable, over here in Brazil it's also not allowed on handguns and we are getting the TX 22 imported from the us.
Have the TX 22 was worried before I boughtl it ....Taurus , you know what I mean. But after 2 bricks .....it is has been PERFECT . I can highly can recommend that gun
Interesting. Had the SR22 and loved it at first. Did feel a little cheap. Then it started malfunctioning, not feeding a lot no matter what ammo. Sold it. Tx22 for two weeks. I'll 600 rounds. No issues. Feels better, better quality.. Go figure Taurus. And of course 16 rounds. Like in this way better than I did the Sr 22 which I loved at first
I do believe the SR22 is more accurate.. Or at least I shot it more accurate at the time. But the TX it's pretty good. Tried match, many man's, Federal Etc. All about the same accuracy from bench for me
Sr22 has to be cleaned after a few bricks. After about 2k rounds mine had malfunction after malfunction. Ripped cases hot gas blow back, I thought it needed 0 cleaning like a Glock lol. Then I got a bore snake and swabed it every 1500 or so rounds no more ftf fte problems. To match my sr22 is a tall order for taurus.
@@algierssolja I routinely cleaned it after 50 to 100 rounds. Like all my firearms . Still failure 2 function fairly often way more than I thought okay. So I get that on 22s. All guns and ammo are different. It's definitely something not right. One of two guns ever I've had too many issues with within short time spans. I even contacted Ruger and thought about sending it back. Anyway, Taurus running great. We'll see if it continues.
@@miragexl007 I hope you have better luck with this one. I go at least 3 or 4 550 bricks of the cheap lead nose crap before cleaning. I don't even clean it well. Wipe the rails 1 or 2x run a bore snake put a lil grease on the barrel an it runs. Think I will try a tx22 when the price normalizes.
Best review I've seen on these 2 guns. I want them both, but I really want the SR22 in the Cerakote Turquoise color which is impossible to find, plus I also love the size of the SR22 to use with my wife at the range. I am able to get a TX22 in a nice Blue polymer frame and price is better on the TX22. Some day I may see a SR22 in my preferred color show up, but they're super rare.
I own and like them both but if I had to chose just one it would be the Tarus. Higher capacity, better trigger , slightly larger frame fits my hand a little better. It’s a tough decision but the Tarus edges out the Ruger in my book.
I've been interested in the TX. But I own both the SR22 and MP22C. Both are good guns, I'm a tick more accurate with the SR22. The TX is nice but too new for me. I'll wait & look at long term revues.
I own both S&W FS and compact and the SR 22 , I can say I shoot the S&W's better, probably because I own the centerfire counterparts. That being said, I can't wait to get my hands on on the TX22, maybe two.
Taurus had some quality issues in the past.but they have overcame that problem in a very big way.not only have they produce a high quality gun but have done it in a very budget friendly way forcing other manufacturers to cut their cost.i own more expensive guns glocks beretta sig and others but none anyone reliable then my Taurus. I carry the g3 and the g2c as my backup. The g2c has over 3500 rounds through it no malfunctions what so ever and my g3 over 2000 rounds through it no malfunctions what so ever using all kinds of different ammunition. That's more then I can say about my higher price guns.i am getting this Taurus 22 to add to my collection.
The 2 Sr22's we've had both had breech indentation from some very minamal drying firing, also had extration issues on both after noticing the breech face . So I Don't own either anymore. Went to a Walther and a Bersa 22. Both have ran flawless
Even though I would chose the Tarus if I could only have one I prefer the grip feel of the Ruger. Ruger is a better .22 for women and children size wise. I also think it’s a good training gun because everyone can see the hammer position.
Had a SR22. Zero failures of any kind. I was never able to shoot accurately with the gun. Also, the reversed safety was an issue for me. My personal 22 plinker is a Ruger 22/45. Recently got a TX22 and lost it. Once my wife shot it she said it was hers. I find it to be more accurate for me than the SR22. Probably the size difference. Both, actually all 3, have been extremely reliable and fun to shoot.
Before seeing this, I literally drove to a local gun store to buy the SR, checked out the TX while there since I didn't really know anything about it, and then bought the Taurus instead. I understand the appeal of the Ruger, and like the company, but between the dumb magazine lock, not actually being dry fire safe, the lower capacity, and their backwards safety that they like for some reason, I think 90% of people will be better served by the Taurus.
I have dry fired my SR22 probably a good 30 times or more and not a single mark on the barrel, nothing at all in the spot you showed on yours. I am not sure what caused yours to dent like that, but mine has not done that.
As an owner of both, I can't recommend either. When I bought my Ruger, I got one that was part of a bad batch. The barrel was badly misaligned and you couldn't hit a two foot target at 7 yards with the sights adjusted all the way over. After three trips to the range with the Taurus I finally had to give up and call for a service return ticket. With regular 22 rounds it would almost get through a magazine without a problem, but with high velocity ammo forget about it. Almost every round the gun would fail. So both were worthless right out of the box. I sent the Ruger in and they fixed it quickly and got it back to me fast. After the fix the Ruger did run flawless. I sent the Taurus in two weeks ago and I haven't even heard from them. They told me when they sent the return authorization that it would be at least a 12 ("TWELVE!!") week turn around.

TX 22 wins!!! 😚 My first Taurus and I love it!!! No malfunctions after 1000 rounds!! Eats everything! Bought a silencer with it and it’s incredible!

The TX 22 just keeps getting good reviews. Great looking firearm.
Both are great. Thank you!
Just purchased it
@@gunsaccessories8853 I now own 7 TX22`s I teach CWP classes in SC. I supply the guns in class. We have been using these for over a year with no issues. 24 students a class. All shoot 50 rounds. That's a lot of ammo through them.
It looks like the highpoint 40 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@sclegalcarry7979 are you having and slides cracking?? Or gouging from the recoil spring??
Already have the SR22 and have gone over 10k round count eating everything even different brands of ammo in the same magazine with few hiccups. Really Runs great. My comparison was between the TX22 and a MarkIV. After watching lots of reviews and shooting each there was no comparison. Mark IV a clear Winner, SR22 Place and TX22 Show. Thanks for a well presented video. SF
Thank you! All of those are great pistols. Thanks for watching!
You've done a very good job of pretty much convincing me that neither of these guns is quite what I'm looking for...
What are you looking for
I have 2 of the sr22's and have used them in ccw classes for practice and qualification for hundreds of students. They run great and are really accurate. I love the gun.
Are there really any inaccurate guns or is it just inaccurate shooters?
Why does the Tx22 with 16 capacity magazine?? Fff on everyone of the mags 1-3 times each.
Why does the Tx22 with 16 capacity magazine?? Fff on everyone of the mags 1-3 times each.
I don't have a TX 22 but I know the SR22 is flawless and I've sent about a thousand rounds through it. I'm very impressed
I've used the SR to introduce young people into target shooting for ages. It fits very well in the hand of those around age 10 or so.
they're both great 22s.
Good luck finding ammo
Get the TX22
Have both, love both. Edge goes to Taurus, nicer trigger and 16 rds. Happy that Taurus seems to be making much better firearms.
Why does the Tx22 with 16 capacity magazine?? Fff on everyone of the mags 1-3 times each.
NICE soundtrack music .. !! A refreshing alternative to the loud, boring, scratchy, all-too-common ROCK NOISE. Thanks for the review
They're both great. The mark of a great 22 is whether it will cycle cheap ammo reliably and the Taurus and Ruger definitely will.
Why does the Tx22 with 16 capacity magazine?? Fff on everyone of the mags 1-3 times each.
I got envious when you guys have a place to shoot so nice.
i have both.
Probably the best comparison of these two guns on TH-cam!! You covered everything! Thank you! Subscibed!👍
Looking at the trigger on the Ruger it looks like a lot better Quality.
I ordered a TX22 non safety model from my LGS. I'm excited to get my hands on it. Great video.
What's LGS?
Duh
Local gun store....sorry
Got the TX for my wife and we had the same issues with ammo...range ammo seems to cause a lot of double feeds and FTEs; switching to CCI made all the difference
Try Federal Bulk 550 rounds in a box.copper coated bullets. My TX loves them.
I bought two TX 22's and think they are a bargain for the price. What a nice weapon for the money and the 16 over 10 for my requirement is huge.
Don't forget now you can add extensions to it.
@@ooc49 You can wait in line for 2 new Barrels ! Taurus quality control is SHEET ! When your life is on the line the SR22 is THE one !

Nice review I like my Ruger SR-22 .Member of my family Just got their permits and going to buy the Ruger SR-22 They just came here to see my firearms and compared the Smith&Wesson MP22 Compact and liked the grip feel of the Ruger SR-22
Thank you for watching Motorman! The Ruger is definitely a good one.
Nice comparison. That’s interesting about your breech face from dry firing. There are places you can buy a threaded barrel for the SR22 for less than $90
I have seen those. I will probably get one sometime soon. Thanks for watching man!
I actually like the SR22, but head to head I have to give it to the Taurus. The TX22 IMO, is the best 22LR for the money. I'd choose the TX22 over any of the 22lr pistols I have shot. Have a nice weekend!!
The TX is definitely a top contender! Thanks man. You have a great rest of your weekend also.
Guns & Ammo 2019 handgun of the year, TX22
Hey G&A. Great job. Thanks for the good info. My niece will be getting her 1st firearm soon (22lr) and I’m sending her all of your 22lr videos.
Thank you very much! She has a good uncle helping her.
I have both, and the only issues I have had, was ammo related
neither of the like CCI Quiet 22LR
The velocity is too low for a Semi-Auto handgun to properly function the slide. Use those in a revolver or bolt action rifle.
I used both and bought the sr22. It shoots everything I throw at it, it's reliable and nice to shoot. A really great 22.
I have the SR22 and cannot believe that after a few thousand rounds I have had zero issues. Not one stove pipe or failure to eject. Admittedly I have no experience with the TX22.
Excellent review! Paid for and Picking up my TX22 tomorrow...NICS was down... go figure.
Thank you! I like the larger frame of the TX also.
So for young shooters with small hands the SR 22 would be the better choice?
@@lantzfamilyadventures5845 no. The ruger is garbage. Buy the Taurus
Thank you! You definitely have a good selection of some the best 22lr handguns. That Colt is awesome I'm sure.
The victory feels dead with no recoil at all.
I have a bunch of 22 pistols and went out a couple of weeks ago to do some shooting at an outdoor range. It was butt cold. The only pistol that functioned without any kind of hitch whatsoever was the Ruger SR22. I was totally impressed. It was already my go to 22 pistol.
As for the mag release, you really have to try them with a locked back slide to know how good they drop free
What an awesome comparison! It covered every aspect that I was wondering about! Great job and thanks for the video.
My TX I have ran everything I could through it even some ammo that when fired looked like I was shooting blackpowder and has been flawless. Love the feel on the grip right from the start. No issues or regrets.
Tx22 making serious waves.
Thé 22 arena has been pretty uninteresting for years the Kel-Tec and the Taurus decided to do what should have been done since calico did it make a fun 22. 10 round 22s are like dropping out of high school in the tenth grade and being satisfied with what that will provide. Happily???
I have lots of bulk .22 ammo. The biggest factor for me, therefore, is which gun will reliably fire a large variety of cheap ammo.
I just bought my Taurus and I love it
The sr22 has awesome ergonomics and works like a champ. It’s one of my favorite pistols and this is coming from someone who shoots a $1500 Walther PPQ Q5 match.
Excellent, thorough review. Best review on both guns, good work and thanks.
Chris Lucas probably. My PT92 has been completely flawlessly accurate since purchasing it 30 years ago. Still looks good too.
@@InSightFreedom difficult to mess up a copied beretta I guess. I can only hope mine lasts as long.
Chris Lucas that’s true. The early ones were actually made in the Brazilian factory tooled for the Beretta so it’s darn close to identical except the non slide mounted safety which is my preference anyway.
showing the live fire trigger reset should be standard on all guntuber channels. fucking legend.
i can see you love RUGER from your video. i still learned some pro and con tho. so thanks thumbs up
I want both guns from this review. tx22 first for me
I think I made the right choice. Bought a TX22 last year for $235 after taxes. The sr25 was $350
The only thing I like better about the Ruger is it's able to have a second strike if you get a dud on the 22LR rim fire bullet.
really happy with my sr22. I believe it would make a great holdout gun to stash for shtf. great match for the takedown and it even has it's own pocket in the bag. sr22 wins!
1683clifton a lot smaller for conceal carry as well, almost identical in dimensions to M&P shield
I would totally agree, the TX was a bit problematic at first but after a few hundred rounds and a good cleaning of mags I haven't had a problem
They're both good guns the choice is up to you the buyer on which one you want to get
Ruger and glock both dropped the ball coming out with 10 rd mags. Terrible marketing mistake.
Choose the taurus or keltec 16 rounders anyway. I have a drawer full of 22 handguns, but buying a TX if I can find one.
This is the best size-up I've seen yet..
How about the P17 vs. the Tx?
Thank You!

Nice review. Good coverage of features and methodical narrative.
Thanks for the review. I just got my tx22 and put 500 rds thoughit yesterday not 1 malfunction. I have a 22 conversation kit for my cz p07 that I have put 4500 rds though in the last month and its great also with only ammo related issues.
There is some confusion regarding dry firing of the TX22. According to the Taurus Website they state not to dry fire the TX.
Really wanting to get one of these firearms for my wife. I think she would like the SR22 because it is a bit smaller but I like what I’m seeing from the TX. I’m stuck here!
The sr22 is the better, more reliable gun, hands down!
The TX22 is available in both 10 and 16 round capacity.
Excellent analysis. Glad I spent the time to watch this. Thank you.
What about the rose gold
I love the SR22. However, I have to agree in regards to magazine disconnects, I think they're stupid.
Very extensive review/comparison. Thank you !
I think you were right. I think the size will be a big factor. I’m starting to train my wife and kids. I like the price of the Taurus though.
The SR is dry fire safe. Says it right in the manual.
@@sorenpx He can't read !
The Ruger runs flawless now? I’d say a kudos to Ruger’s service department the!
The TX22 seems to be the most practical, but the SR22 is just plain sexy
