The TX22 is the best .22 I have ever owned. I understand that Taurus has been kind of hit or miss with their products, but the TX22 was a home run in my opinion. Easy to shoot, fairly inexpensive, and an overall great handgun for beginners and firearm veterans alike.

I bought one of these pistols and was so excited. Took it to the range and it ate everything I fed it. At 250 rounds it started to key hole. The barrel was so caked with lead that when I tried to clean it my cleaning rod got stuck inside and then when I pulled it out the tip remained stuck in the barrel. Sent it back. After a quick search I see that this issue with barrels is common. It ran like a champ and turns out I am the chump.

So Taurus customer service was mentioned a couple of times in the video and in the comments. Forgot to mention that during the purchase process at Academy I didn't realize that the suppressor adaptor wasn't in the box... honestly didn't notice it until a couple days later, even after shooting it the same day I purchased it.
Called Taurus, they took my information and after talking to a couple of people I was informed that there wasn't any in stock and they would mail one when it was back in stock. Both guys were nice and the call didn't take to long or at least I don't remember being bothered by it.
Was a little nervous I would never hear from Taurus and I would have to call again in a few months. Well, checked the mail today and there was a small package from them with the suppressor adaptor. Only took a week and a half and I am pleasantly surprised and couldn't be happier.
First Taurus pistol and probably wont be my last the way things are going.

Mp cakes up as bad as p322 that's a fact and well chronicled. I was shocked but s@w has even been working strongly on it. Luv s@w mp,s or it would have been a keeper as well. Fn502 is a cut above all!!!!! Optic ready, front and back serrations that work well. The 502 is soooo well built. The pivot trigger is ridiculously hands down the best. Sig 322 is second with its trigger, grips and well balanced but a toy as the glock. Simply a plastic, well gun. Worst stock trigger by far. Horrible. Tx22 get the sig kit ss rod and spring for 22$ YES guns NEED to be cleaned, and O, many need to learn how to properly load the mags. IMAGE THAT. THEN YOUR MACHINE WILL RUN , " RACE REALLY " 399.00 WITH 4 16 ROUND POLYMER CLIPS. GETTING A METAL 25 ROUND CLIP AND D. O. N. E.
      1) NEGATIVE, YES 1 FOR A POLMER STRIKER SEMI 22. THE IRON SITES ARE ..... WELL HORRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. LIGHT ON BOTTOM RAIL. OPTIC ON TOP.
MONEY. THE TX22 AS FAR AS A SHOOTER, A TICK BETTER, WITH FN AND SIG EVEN. FWIW
      HAPPY HUNTING

    @Blahblahblahninsense ปีที่แล้ว +1

If anyone is interested I bought a new one in april of 2023 and have put 2k rounds through it so far.
Most malfunctions occur because of a feeding jam where the bullet is pushed out of the casing towards the chamber by the bolt but the casing is still at an angle pointed upwards out if the mag.
That break in the casing/bullet can be mitigated by using 40 grain rounds that have more bulllet for the casing to hold onto as its charged.
Federal punch ammo works exceptionally well because the casings and bullets are all nickel-plated so they hold really firm.
Essentially what you need is a 22 rimfire where the bullet is really hard to jostle from the casing.

For the longest time, Taurus has been associated with the "Saturday night special", and deservedly so. In the late 90's, I purchased a PT 92 stainless, and loved it! When Taurus developed and marketed their 1911, at first I was skeptical, with good reason. Until I got one in my hands! With the " custom features, Hieney crazy 8 sights, out of the box my first magazine was damn near one ragged hole at 15 yrds! I own a Colt Rangemaster, a Springfield custom shop, and two Taurus 1st gen PT1911s, among others. They shoot just as acurately or better than some of my others! I've been carrying Taurus for a long time, and will contunue to do so.

Just bought one of these yesterday. Cleaned and lubed it last night, took it to the range today. I put over 250 rounds of 9 different LR cartridges. I had only 3 rounds that didn’t fully get ejected. This is my first 22 Pistol, now Glock will make one since I bought this one.
I almost bought the Advantage Arms conversion kit with the threaded barrel. It would have cost more than this whole pistol and much less warranty. All the excellent reviews on this pistol made me try it. Glad I did, paid $300 for it, I couldn’t be happier.
Mounted my suppressor to it and it was way to much fun.

I know someone whose had issues with what looks like the metal inside the barrel having some breakdown issues towards the muzzle. His TX22 started key-holing every shot. I understand that Taurus is looking into the issue, but I'm sure that it is an isolated issue wherein sometimes, things just go bad. From what I've experienced with the TX22, it is an awesome, well designed trainer/plinker. The only upgrades that I could suggest are for better sights.

The only issues I've had with feeding is from the Lead Round Nose of the Thunderbolts, it will literally rip off the coating and won't feed after about 7-8 rounds. Winchester has also had issues, but I blame that 100% on the crappy ammo. 300 rounds of Federal have had zero failures in it.
Also love the grip on the TX22, really hope Taurus uses this on the next version of there G2C.

Great video as always. Bought one. Great trigger and ergonomics. Barrel had excessive lead in it after 120 rounds. The LGS where I bought it and shot it found a flaw in the barrel’s rifling. They swapped it with another new one and it shot 30 or 40 rounds okay. I took the second one to the range and put around 150 rounds thru it and again there was lead build up in the barrel. I used different ammo but still had build up. I took it in and they replaced it with another 22 that I picked out. I can’t say enough good things about Dewey’s in Greenville SC. The pistol I picked as a replacement was a Browning Buckmark which after shooting 150 rounds had a barrel as clean as when it was brand new. There was something wrong with the two TX 22s and the gun shop took great care of me. As for Taurus, I have shot several different models over the years and this is the first problem I have ever had with one. I am not a Taurus hater, the TX is a good pistol and I guess I got two lemons. Good luck.

Update: I finally made time to get to the range. Had to exercise my nightstand piece (G23 w/9mm conversion barrel), and the TX22. The nightstand pistol ran without incident. The TX22 had a few hiccups with Winchester golden bullets. Based on the FTF and FTE issues I had, I decided to take apart and clean/lube magazines and try again next time. Will try Aguila and CCI rounds as well.

I should have stuck to my guns with hating Taurus...
Against my better judgement I bought this gun. I guess you could say I got suckered by that 16 round magazine.
At first I was very happy. With standard velocity CCI and Federal i didn't have one single problem...then I tried some high velocity rounds. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. Most magazines have had problems on almost every round. I have had the occasional string of maybe three or four shots in a row but very few. On almost every shot with the higher velocity rounds the slide locks back. I may as well have a bolt action 22 pistol.
Of course I load up with the regular stuff and it does fine, but you shouldn't have to settle for half ass performance.
I guess my biggest complaint is for Ruger. Why the hell can't Ruger make a 22 pistol with better than a ten round magazine so I would not be tempted to slum around with this Taurus garbage.
BUYER BEWARE...Taurus may be improving, but they apparently aren't out of the dump totally.

@@SuperUncleRyan yeah.... I've been following this gun extremely closely with a community that talks about Taurus on forums along with multiple different reviews from people you are literally the only negative case I've heard about this. I take it with a grain of salt for two reasons.
1 sample size of one versus a few hundred accounts.
2 far too many trying to poison the brand based on prior performance.

I have a G2 and liked it so much I got a G2C, both have been flawless. I watched many videos on the TX22 and was sold. I ordered one on 4/16 and got it on the 18th and shot 20 mags through it that same day after cleaning it before hand. It is very light, shoots like a laser, ate the varity of ammo I put through it without a hitch. It ran every thing. I got the Tx22241, the model without the manual safety and Love it. This is one very cool pistol and very easy to take down to field strip and service. .22's are fun and this pistol is a HOOT!
Mine did come with the mag loader, although it isn't necessary and I haven't used it because the tabs on the magazine to pull the follower down to aide in loading work fine and are easy to grasp.

I've been starting to look at various .22 cal compact pistols for my wife, mainly focusing on the Walther P22. But after watching your review of it and learning about it's trigger pull weight (9+ lbs), that is just way too heavy for what she would want (or what I would want her to have). This pistol, having a trig pull weight of roughly 4 lbs, it's almost a no brainer. Only issue being that the TX22 is a bit bigger in size to the P22 or even RS22. Regardless, from this review, it seems to be the highest probability for her.

Put about 200 rounds through this gun today. As a ruger sr22 fan i didnt expect much out of the tx22. Kept hearing how great it was but sometimes its just hype. Well its not hype. Sure the slide is a bit gritty at first and it feels light but once you take it to the range and feel that trigger your sold. It is the best 22lr trainer i have. It feels like a 9 and its so light you feel a bit of the 22 recoil. Not much though. As for refering to the ruger, the sr22 has better materials and a better finish. The ruger just feels like a much better made firearm. However the tx22 is more fun to shoot with a significantly better trigger. Add in the fact that the tx22 feels like your holding a full sized 9mm its the winner for me. My ruger isnt leaving the collection but it might see a bit less trigger time.

SootchOO, Thanks for that great review of another quality firearm from Taurus. You covered all your bases and did all your homework and i especially like the idea that it can take hot loads and not suffer from any fatigue of any kind. For another $100.00, which can pay for itself just in ammo cost, with no isssues about the trigger, it is narrower by design just for the fact using a skinny bullet. It can be carried concealed and not show like a fatter gun would. The light weight is perfect, just one little minor thing... It can be so comfortable on your person, that you might forget about it and be an unwilling particpant at a butt-chewing one-on- one conference at an Airport, by a Special Security Agent.
