I bought this gun 2 years ago for my daughter when she was 12. She wanted to shoot but the 9mm recoil scared her. She loves shooting now. And she say dad can we go to the range this weekend. Family 👪 bonding time. Its a good firearm.
Everyone should learn how to shoot...good job Dad! It is hard to get kids to pay attention these days. My daughter just turned twelve...she can shoot a bb gun, a bow, throw knives and use a blowgun. When she isn't so scared, I have the perfect little 410 shotgun for her...the one I got 38 years ago when I was 5. Still has the bluing.
Excellent Father and daughter time I have a daughter who is 12 and she’s been shooting my S&W22 Victory for four years! My 10 year old son on the other hand has been shooting it only 3 years but now he has a 15-22 and a Heritage Rough Rider mostly to conserve ammunition but he really loves loading and unloading it he finally shot my AR-15 this year and at 75&80 yards he can blast h20 bottles and shaving cream cans with only a Romeo green dot
@@sorenpx did you clean it when you first got it? I didn’t clean mine before firing it, but after a few tripes to the range with it, my misfires have dropped to almost 0. My friend that started at the same time as me, bought a PPK and a Kimber 9mm and has had trouble with both. He’s looking to get an SR22 now after having shot mine a few times.
@@shanetoumey2835 I did clean it, yeah. Honestly, especially since it was my first gun, it's been pretty disappointing to have these issues. It's kind of like having your very first car be one that breaks down frequently. But hey, I haven't shot it in a while so more testing is needed. My hope is that it's an issue that's going to clear up with more use.
@@sorenpx mine wouldn’t properly chamber the round. I think it was getting caught on the little ramp (sorry I don’t know all the proper terms). Again though, after the cleaning and using it a few more times, it works almost perfectly now. YMMV of course.
With the cost of ammo these days, I limit the use of my defensive handguns at the range. That’s when I break out my SR-22 for some fun and cheap shooting. The SR-22 has been a reliable and fun gun to own.
I got one of these a month after they hit the market...i have had ZERO issues with it other than occassional human error. Solid little gun and with good ammo it's super reliable. No kick and you can pop off 10 in a row center of mass with out even flinching...GREAT gun. Great video Colion, love it!
I trained my kids about gun safety and shooting on this gun. After all of the times they shot it learning...I still think I've shot it more. It's also in my carry rotation when I have to wear a suit.
I've had my SR22 since they first came out, it still has "SR22 Pistol" marked on it instead of simply "SR22". It's seen many thousands of rounds and has introduced a half dozen people to the joys of shooting. If I could change anything on the pistol I'd add an ambi slide release and either flip the safety the right way or just make it a spring-loaded decocker. Either way I personally use it only as a decocker, as double actions really don't need a safety, and my personal example isn't a daily carry and thus isn't kept loaded while away from the field or range.
I bought one about two weeks ago and I love it! Worked great right out of the box. I got it to carry when I just have shorts and a tee shirt on during the summer. It is light and easy to conceal, just leave the safety off and the hammer forward.
Love mine. I started my daughter and wife with it and it was an easy transition for them to larger calibers from there. It is still a fun handgun to fire.

I’m just a little amazed that there’s nearly no aftermarket for it, it’s a helluva lot better than the G44 and is arguably more practical than the Ruger MkIV.
I bought the full size M&P .22 for purely practical purposes. It seemed like a better home defense gun after I moved into an apartment with thin walls. I would trust my life to this gun. I have over 2000 rounds through mine and the only malfunctions I’ve had were ammo related; failed primer ignition, which of course can happen with bulk pack 22lr ammo. But, being a DA/SA gun it has multiple strike capability, and a second strike will usually set off the round. It has both a firing pin block and hammer block making it safe to carry for those so inclined to do so. Besides that it is an excellent way to practice DA/SA shooting.
I bought the SR22 years ago when it first came out. It was inexpensive, could shoot with it forever at the range with cheap ammo, and it fit great on my hands for such a "cute" gun. The accessories that came with it to make the handle wonder and an extender so I have somewhere to put my pinky, makes the gun so comfortable. @@natestain7103 I just looked at the Ruger and Cabela sites. The fact that this also comes in a “long slide” 4.5 inch barrel was neat. Cabelas has them prices a fair amount cheaper than MSRP.
It's hard not to love a ruger 22. Most of us probably learned to shoot with one. I know I did. Old ruger Mark 2 or a pak lite. Buddy of my dad's bought one and we went to shoot it. He couldn't hit side of house if house was on top of him, lol. I was 5 or 6 and could hit pony bottle at 20 ft. Guy gave gun to my dad and said give it to me when he gets big enough to have it. I have 3 of both (Smith and Wesson 22) of them… I trained thousands of folks with them and super slight advantage of my students with the Ruger… I’m a fan.
For those that are interested, tandemkross makes a +5 mag bumper. Great USA company and they design and make their own parts! I have them on all but 1 of my SR22 mags and they work flawlessly!
I have had my SR22 for about 5 years and I love it. I shot a handful of different 22 pistols before purchasing this one. It ain’t large, but not too small either. The ambidextrous controls have been great since I am a righty and my son is a south paw. It was great to have a good reliable handgun to teach him safety, stance and operation. Just got my first 22 suppressor a couple weeks ago and it makes this gun even more fun.
5 years ago I traded my old dirtbike for this gun. I love it and would never get rid of it. In my opinion I think it's a great gun for plinking. Love my Ruger

The safety/decocker actually works the same as some others like many versions of.the Beratta92 and the Baby Desert Eagle III. This is a good companion gun and trainer for many users.
Had 1 for years. Love it! It doesn't matter how dirty it is, or what kind of ammo is used. It shoots well every time. Easy disassembly & reassembly. My p22 jammed when dirty & was difficult to assemble because of the guide spring. SR22 is much better
@@escapetherace1943 I like to do torture tests to see what they'll take and how dependable they are. Only certain guns though. The SR 22 performed very well. Much like Glock. G22 will take more than 3000 rounds before jamming, unless you use TulAmmo. Then it's about 300. That ammo is filthy.
That's my moms gun. Suppressor and all. Different suppressor but still. Kinda cool to see. Make sure you stack casing rims in FRONT of each other, just like shotgun bags.
Had mine for 5 years smooth as Ice and wonderfully easy to keep clean and awesome for teaching kids! And if some one broke into your home they would not know that it was 22 might be enough to make them think twice of course I prefer 9-10 mm myself but wife not really down with that recoil
My first pistol years was a Ruger MK III. More recently, I picked up an SR9 as my first "concealed" carry pistol and also managed to find a MK III for a really good price.
what a coincidence to find this video: i just put 250 rounds through my ruger sr22 this afternoon. it eats anything but cci minimags are the best. my sr22 is my travel carry piece: easy to pack 300 rounds, 3 mags and one pistol in a small locked case. i often plink during my trips and 10 minimags consistently placed on-target is decent enough protection for my needs.
I like the short "no fluff" 1st Mag, sneak peek quick video format!! Inspired to look at this PPD(personal protection device)...Great share...."awe shut up Peter..."
The Ruger SR22 model 3604 (what Noir’s shooting here), is the first and only gun I’ve purchased. I bought it over a year ago and it has made shooting very enjoyable. I’m short and have smaller hands as well as little experience with firearms. This gun is easy to learn with and wasn’t nearly as intimidating for someone that’s new as a 9mm or .45. I can’t recommend it enough. One thing, if it’s a first gun for you, clean it before you fire it. Mine took a few trips to the range before I would stop getting regular misfires. If I had cleaned it before first use, I’m told this would have lowered the frequency. Also, .22 WMR despite fitting in the magazines and chamber is NOT an appropriate ammo to use in this gun.
I've had mine for about 8 years now. Can't say enough good things about this pistol. Eats ALL ammo, reliable, accurate, and very light. I've got the two tone version with a stainless bull type barrel, only draw back with my model is that it doesn't have a threaded barrel for suppressors. As for the saftey, I never use it. With the long trigger pull, I just leave it hot with hammer down. I also never use the decocker. I manually drop the hammer by holding it with my thumb and pulling the trigger(always in a safe direction kids).my only failure was when a grain of sand got under the extractor, causing it to fail to extract. Easy fix, probably shouldn't have been digging holes while it was on me.lol. I have shot the suppressed version with a larger can, very quiet. I have a lot of semi auto 22lr, this is my favorite.
Great looking gun. I've had a Browning Buckmark for 35 years. Wanted something different so I picked up a FN 502 last week. May have to lookat that too.
Love your reviews..... You are one of my go to's for this and many things. I've had an SR 22 for a few years. Wanted to add a decent semi .22 to the mix. Plinker, rabbit hunting, varmints, teaching tool..... I do have some good shooting experience, but really hadn't done much with the SR22 since getting it besides running it a bit to make sure operation was good, and making sure it was sighted in. Recently I went to a local range for an informal social .22 pistol competition evening. (although it was scored through some organization and data based). I could not have been happier with it's performance. It was my first ever "competition" of sorts and surprisingly to me, came in 4th of 10-15 in the stock pistol category. My observations: Many other types/brands of .22's on hand to watch operate. From "race" .22's to bone stockers, to old Mark 4's to modern Glock .22's. All seemed to be as accurate as the shooter and their skills. My SR22.....not one malfunction. And I was shooting up a mix of old stuff to "get rid of". Probably not a good tactic for a competition, but I was there mainly for the social aspect and to learn the ropes for these events. I was surprised at malfunctions of more expensive pistols. I saw a Mark 4 having some ammo finicky issues. On the right diet no issues. Both Glock .22's had occasional malfunctions of failure to eject and or stove pipe which was surprising to me being a Glock guy. Their accuracy was spot on, but those malf's slowed them down. One of the fully tricked out pistols ( I don't even know what it was all weighted and balance) had a hiccup or two as well. Not putting down any of the aforementioned pistols, as we know some need break in or dialing on on the shooters part, but the bone stock SR22 (with threaded barrel & protective bushing) ate everything I fed it, not one hiccup, and shot on target with that variety of ammo (lead & jacketed, and some 25-30 years old). It for sure is a fun plinker, trainer, stock competition, and future rabbit pistol. And if everything goes to poop.....viable self defense, albeit lower in the caliber algorithm. Bottom Line.....literally here..... I love mine and I think it is a great .22 semi-auto and value.
My gramps taught all his grandchildren how to safely and accurately shoot by teaching us on a .22 cal bolt action rifle. When I went into the military I was able to earn my marksman ribbon on the M16 rifle and the 38 pistol (yes, I’m that old). Everyone should learn to safely shoot a basic firearm because you never know when you may need to save a life.
I was fortunate enough to hold that same firearm at a gun show in Florida in May. I was able to get a full grip on it and it was quite comfortable. My only issue is that its a .22. Awesome firearm to own still 👍🏽
I love mine. Just put a optics plate on her and a red dot. So much fun. Just a cheap utg and it's been working great for me. Very accurate. And runs all kinds of ammo. After replacing guide rod to stainless steel.
I have this pistol I actually like it for carry around my property while working, yep you got train with that safety. My normal go to around the property is a Bond Rowdy but .410 and 45LC are really hard to come by so I switched to this fella.
FYI See a company called TandemKross. They make a product that allows you to turn the ten rd mag into 16rd (where legal). Find Nic Taylor supply and use his springs they are stronger than the TK springs. Also, TK sells a SS guide rod and spring. Highly recommend this upgrade. The original guide rod is plastic and sometimes the slide doesn’t return all the way. I love mine it’s one of my EDC guns. Unfortunately this gun has been banned in California
I bought one of these two years ago with the Ruger Silent-SR suppressor. It is now one of my favorite suppressed handguns to go to the range. The feel of the grip seems similar to my suppressed Walther PPK. I really like the way it fits the hand. Surprisingly, it only took ATF 3 months to do the paperwork for the suppressor even with them having to send it back because I made a mistake on the form and had to correct it. The dealer said AFT (as Biden calls them) was taking all of their other transfers 9-12 months. I guess after doing a dozen or so Form 4s they just rubber stamp it.

I'm 44 now and I still have it. Still runs like dream and is fun to shoot
Love mine with the Ruger can. Sweet little setup.
“The ergonomics are just so good” -Colion noir
“The safety is upside down”-also Colion noir
Ergonomics of safeties are unimportant because you should never be using them.
@@Matthew-sp5kv never is strong language. If it was true then don’t get a gun that has one-it’ll be on when u don’t want it to be or off when u do. Especially when upside down. Sorry but I disagree
Any guess for the over/under on when Ruger announces they all need to be returned to the factory for a retro-fit?
@@joeblincoe3122 just imagine it's a 92 safety but lower
@@Matthew-sp5kv economics are good, not gonna make you shoot better, but it’s just nice
Been wanting to try this gun, now I just need to buy one, great video.
The safety/decocker actually works the same as some others like many versions of.the Beratta92 and the Baby Desert Eagle III. This is a good companion gun and trainer for many users.
SR22 has become my favorite over my other 22s.
Good video.
Had 1 for years. Love it! It doesn't matter how dirty it is, or what kind of ammo is used. It shoots well every time. Easy disassembly & reassembly. My p22 jammed when dirty & was difficult to assemble because of the guide spring. SR22 is much better
clean your stuff dude
after every session
please
@@escapetherace1943 I like to do torture tests to see what they'll take and how dependable they are. Only certain guns though. The SR 22 performed very well. Much like Glock. G22 will take more than 3000 rounds before jamming, unless you use TulAmmo. Then it's about 300. That ammo is filthy.
That's my moms gun. Suppressor and all. Different suppressor but still. Kinda cool to see. Make sure you stack casing rims in FRONT of each other, just like shotgun bags.
Is it actually possible to stack them wrong, easily, with the way the Magnus designed?
What are rounds lips?
@@2whl4re Casing rim. Thanks for calling me on being retarded. Lol.
Have you had the chance to shoot yet?
Many, many, many times.
This was my first gun I bought and it is so much fun!
Had mine for 5 years smooth as Ice and wonderfully easy to keep clean and awesome for teaching kids! And if some one broke into your home they would not know that it was 22 might be enough to make them think twice of course I prefer 9-10 mm myself but wife not really down with that recoil
I love this sweet like pistol too. It was my favorite until the TX22 came along. Taurus now rules the .22 pistol world.
Love the SR22. Glad to see Colion do a first mag with it.
Absolutely love my SR22! Had it for about 8yrs now, and is one of my go-to trainers. Fun for me, awesome for safety training!
I bought mine about 3 years ago in the green color. I call it my fun gun. It’s so fun to shoot
Great little pistol. Have the 4.5" one.
I picked up one about 4 years ago. For introducing new shooters to handgun use it is perfect!
Now the only issue is finding enough .22LR to feed it.😉
I've had mine for about 8 years now.
Love my SR22, very carry-able and accurate.
Bought one years ago, love it…my wife is trying to make it her own!
I think you need a his and hers. Just saying
I was fortunate enough to hold that same firearm at a gun show in Florida in May. I was able to get a full grip on it and it was quite comfortable. My only issue is that its a .22. Awesome firearm to own still 👍🏽
Just put half down on one of these for my wife. Thank you for this video it helped seal the deal.
I love mine. Just put a optics plate on her and a red dot. So much fun. Just a cheap utg and it's been working great for me. Very accurate. And runs all kinds of ammo. After replacing guide rod to stainless steel.
Bought one of those a year ago fantastic little Plinkster
I really like mine.Accurate, Comfy, small, but not too small.Fits in back pocket of jeans.
A nice CCW when in low-risk environments.
I have a Ruger 1911 and a Ruger LCR. Excellent guns!
LOVE your videos 2nd Amendment and gun reviews, especially the tactical training ( living vicariously through you).
“The Herman Miller of ergo chairs” now that’s what I can relate to !
Great weapon. Only had one issue when the ammo was crap and failed. Ruger replaced the weapon at no charge. Loving ALL my Ruger's!
I love 22lr pistols but I still prefer my Walther PPQ M2 in 22lr. Full scale pistol version of the 9mm model.
Thanks Colin for all You do to protect our rights!
Thank you to Colion as well
Man listen... I bought one of those for my wife and I have a decent amount of fun shooting it suppressed!
I shot one for the first time last year. Really dug it! I still prefer the tx-22 but can't go wrong with the Ruger.
I've rented the SR22 a couple times and I got to say that first shot sux, the one that brings the hammer back, but after that it's smooth as butta
This was my first firearm purchase. It's a great little gun!
Thank you for using a Rooster when you said "decock"!😨
Thanks for the vid brother.
Be safe!🇺🇲👍🇺🇲✌️🇺🇲
I love that little suppressor.
The SR22 is one of my favorites to shoot. It always comes to the range with me
Bought this gun as a trainer for my carry pistol. Absolutely amazing little gun.
What?!?!? Colion hasn't shot an SR22 until now? I've had mine for 5 years now and I absolutely love everything about it. I wish Ruger would make a 9mm identical to the design of the SR22. I'm sure you enjoyed man, I know I love shooting mine every time I go to the range.
Mark IV, bull or tapered barrel. I have the tapered barrel model. And it is accurate af, and fun to shoot.
My daughter loves hers ! The wife really digs her TX22 from Taurus !!
I have the Ruger SR/22 and was able to take my CPL class with it LOL awesome gun.
