The humiliation, the justification, the faults in the stars. It is all nothing; it could all be nothing. I'm still wondering whether there was any kind of interaction between C'Thun's remains and the Azerite. I mean AQ was in Silithus after all. If Azerite is leaking all over on the literal other side of the planet, there's likely plenty of it seeping into whatever remained underground in AQ after Sarg stabbed Silithus. Azeroth's literal lifeblood + remains of an Old God can't be a good combination. Perhaps C'Thun is the one they were refering to when they were talking about "he" sleeps beneath the earth drinking it's power.

    • @laertesindeed
      @laertesindeed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No..... any relevant remains of C'thun were already taken out by the cultists who worked for Cho'gall back in Cataclysm. C'thun was the specific one that was partially manifesting in Cho'gall when we fought and killed him.

    • @ChinnuWoW
      @ChinnuWoW 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does that mean the azerite power we were using was partly C'Thun's blood and was corrupting us? That's interesting.

    • @OverworkedITGuy
      @OverworkedITGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChinnuWoW no, Azeroth herself gave us the Heart. Just mentioning that Azerite is leaking/seeping/flowing all over the place even on the other side of the planet. Since C'Thun's dormant corpse is literally under Silithus, it's a pretty safe bet that Azerite is leaking into that underground chamber in AQ as well (especially given the physical damage that would have been done to the underground portions of AQ by Gorshalach being stabbed into the planet right above/next to it). We know that plain old mortal people can empower themselves by absorbing Azerite. Having the body of an Old God literally soaking in the stuff since the end of Legion this whole time, can't be a good thing.

    • @monkeysk8er33
      @monkeysk8er33 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laertesindeed That is incorrect. Cho'gall only absorbed part of C'thun's power, as Garrosh absorbed part of Y'sharaj's. C'thun's remnants have been seen as active, in canon, since Cata. Their remains spread across the ENTIRETY of Azeroth. Y'sharaj "lived" long after his death, as is made clear in MoP.

    • @laertesindeed
      @laertesindeed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@monkeysk8er33 I'm not interested in your head canon. There is absolutely "NOTHING" after cataclysm which indicates any physical piece of C'thun was doing anything anywhere. Not one shred. By all means, his non-physical spirit continues on because the old gods are beyond the cycle of life and death so he wasn't alive to begin with. And no, Y'shaarj never "lived" either...no such thing was ever stated or suggested or hinted in Mists of Pandaria. Metzen's writing makes it clear that Y'shaarj was not alive when Aman'thul defeated him...and the sha are merely a symptom of exposure to his residue....almost like the acid blood from a defeated Xenomorph in a different franchise.

  • @OMartinez91
    @OMartinez91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What made me suspect this might be a possibility is the fact there was no strong void presence in The Maw. If the Old Gods were in the afterlife, they should have altered the Shadowlands like how the titan we killed in Legion messed up the Arbiter

    • @laertesindeed
      @laertesindeed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I should preface this by saying I don't like the Danuser writing and I don't consider it to be any connection to the real Metzen lore. However.....no, you apparently didn't play or pay attention to what happened in Bastion and what was told in writing during the Maldraxxus storyline. The void had already invaded Bastion and Maldraxxus in the past and it took a necrolord named "Mesil the Phantom" and the previous Paragon of Courage, Agthia, of Bastion sacrificing themselves in order to stop that Void invasion. The void had been there numerous times....and there is no reason they would need to go to the Maw. Afterall, the old gods describe themselves as "outside the cycle" , so they are not souls that ever get sent anywhere by any of the previous Arbiters.

    I wish I had a dream that was so vivid, that it was real.
    Anyways, like I have stated. The only way they can get rid of what Shadowlands did is to get rid of it entirely by having us enslaved in a dream state of the waking nightmare of the Old Gods. The problem is that you would have to start this before BFA happened and sometime after Legion ended with the sword stabbed into Azeroth. You can say that N'Zoth got freed when Sargeras stabbed Azeroth. This would be the best solution. Get rid of BFA and Shadowlands altogether.

I think that explaining the origin of the Old God's as creations of the void lords underminded their mysterious and unfathomable lovecraftian existence, and N'zoth got screwed over. BFA should have focused solely on the faction war and at the end, N'zoth should have been freed with the next expansion dedicated to fighting the full power of an Old God. Instead, the "full power" of an Old God was relegated to two zones and a raid in a single patch. It was a lackluster way to end the Old God's lore and I hope blizzard's story team can fix it

    Maybe its all the Berserk and Lovecraft I've been reading lately but I came to a similar conclusion. That when we realize we were following their plan all along would come at a moment where our actions/ritual involving the dragon flight or maybe even to take down the new light army will bring the old gods back in new bodies. Bodies that better exhibited their power and control, fully merging Azeroth with their, idk dimension? I'm a call it old god interstice. Maybe Azeroth starts to go mad afterward, repeating old god rhetoric on how she can now see all truths of the universe. I'm just weary of it cause I would definitely be wondering where you go from there but I imagine it would be so far off (2-3 expansions) that a future path would be more clear. Not all mortals go to the shadowlands. Some of them become demon, corrupted by fel energy, and go to the twisting nether. I also imagine souls dedicated to the Void or to the Light are also untouched by the Shadowlands. Both Elune and the Jailer have cheated the Arbiter system, so its an easy assumption others have too

    • @laertesindeed
      @laertesindeed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By definition..... if a mortal being consumes fel and has their soul bound to fel; they are no longer mortal. So you would still have to say that all mortals go to the shadowlands. (You could certainly say that what Danuser wrote is not the same thing that Metzen called shadowlands....but either way, mortals go to it)

    what would be extrem but not unrealistic would be that the old gods are manifestations of a being who dreams the world and all "lives" into existence and our fight against the void and other evils is in fact a fight against the mind of the dreamer to wake up. and its not really impossible as we have a somewhat same principle of the emerald dream, so that we are just thoughts of a higher being makes sense.
    BUT if this would be the case arent we the bad people? we hinder the higher being to ever awake again in our selfish fight for live but we will never be real, just struggling to not be erased by IT to awake. but in the end if IT isnt able to awake wouldnt IT starve or in other ways die? isnt the death unavoidable? isnt our fight pointless if this would be the truth?

    If this is all a big bamboozle by N'zoth...I really want to see then what Murozond saw that made him call the dungeon the "gift we simply cannot comprehend." What did he see or did he see the TRUE hour of twilight? Is the desolate hellscape that was the end-times dungeon actually a blessing in disguise in that things could have really gone so far beyond tits up that we cannot comprehend it? Hell I would love for us to "come back to Azeroth" and actually its just been Norzdormu trying to wake all of our asses from this "super sleep" that N'zoth trapped us in and him alongside the other dragonflights having to wake our easily corrupted butts whilst having to fend off all manor of old-god love-craftian assaults is what finally tips him over (how he gets to that point could be thought out better but still).

    I have always had one key problem with the N'zoth arc. Most adventurers that had lasted long enough to be in the position were were in during BFA would find a knife that started talking to them and would NOT BLINDLY FOLLOW IT.
    That can always be written off as some NPC salvage team found the knife, Nzoth tentacled their brains, and off they went, but I just want that little bit of respect given back so that my character, all our characters, aren't morons.

    Maybe the Old Gods told us the future because they want to help us. Remember that the Void is the opposite of the Light, and the Light sees things in stark good and evil, in a single correct path. The Void sees all paths and doesn't know which one is right, both in terms of what might happen, and in terms of morality and ideology. They talk to us while we fight them. They try to convince us of things. They give us gifts. In their insanity, we are equally their enemies and their friends. They hurt us, of course, but maybe, as much as they're capable of, they're also trying to be nice to us.

  • @kacperdrabikowski5074
    @kacperdrabikowski5074 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember theorizing that Ny'alotha conclusion was sort-of planned by N'zoth. Remember, Azshara freed him from his undersea prison, leaving him fully able to act physically on Azeroth, but instead of going full Black-Empire-reborn he went through this convoluted alternate reality plan. Why? Because that way if he won, he would still have the planet for himself, but if he lost, he would either lose only the power he invested in Ny'alotha, not everything, or he could rig the dimension so that he returns to the Void with his essence intact to shorten the respawn time.
    From what you said, there is evidence supporting this theory (or at least no proof to contrary), so... I'm waiting, let us see.
