My dude got the whole store. This is like me when I "just go to take a look but not really going to buy anything". Nashville Barrel Co is very slept on. The two bottles on my shelf are some of the best on my bar. Great stuff. Cheers.
I literally laughed out loud at this comment, so good. I'd love to be apart of an NBC pick one day. Their single barrel picks can be phenominal. Cheers
I appreciate it, that means alot! I try to be as efficient as possible while provide helpful insight, as people have a million things to do and I don't want to waste anyone's precious time if I can. Some people have asked for unedited videos, but it would be an extra 5 mins and a ton of silence or gibberish. haha
Completely agree with JD single barrel barrel proof rye. Will always be a bottle in my house along with ECBP, still Austin BP, cedar ridge BP, rare breed, and russels. All staples at my house
@ very solid stuff, can’t wait for their stuff to get older. Also a big fan of their single malts. Rotate a lot of stuff in and out, but those are my must always have in the house. Good video as always
Nice haul! Great overview of the bourbons. Agree wholeheartedly on the Jack SBBP Ryes. I am hunting something north of 137 proof (currently my highest pick). Agree to disagree on Penelope 10yr vs. 9yr Estate. For me the 10yr. rises above by a fair margin. The 10yr. just killed the EHT Single Barrel in a head-to-head blind. Of course I might have a special single barrel. Mine is the lower rye mashbill. Cheers
Thanks. I think my single barrel might have just been off. I sampled it out to a couple of people and they agreed it missed the mark. But I have heard of some others who have phenomenal single barrels. Hope they allow pick groups to start doing picks of them. Cheers
Thanks for the shout out, Chris! I miss that bottle of KC 2001, so good! I just picked up another Weller FP pick at BK miller Saturday. I was going to hit you up anyway because I'm thinking about hitting Drug City Late Feb, early March. I wanted to see if you were interested in Going and possibly shooting a hunt vid for our channels. I'll email you my contact info.
i know this has nothing to do with the video, but i kept seeing Vibrations of Manifestation by alex lane mentioned in the comments of so many videos and even heard friends talk about it. i was skeptical, but i finally gave it a try, and honestly, it’s been life-changing. two weeks later, i’m finally in the position i’ve been manifesting for years-better opportunities, more confidence, and everything just feels aligned. had to share this with you.
If you like the Old Forester barrels better when they are proofed down, you can always just add water and proof them down yourself to exactly the level you want.
Very True, you can always water down a bottle. My hesitation is that the blue labels were picked by the group at barrel proof, whereas the black labels were all proofed down and the group picked the best bottle at that proof. The best bottle at barrel proof and 100 proof are probably going to be different. So its more of a risk buying a blue label and watering it down, but you can always try it.
Oh man, I can't wait to open it after the end of January. I've been wanting a KOA pick for the longest time and got so excited when a local store was able to pick one. Cheers
The new Four Roses single barrel recipes have not yet dropped everywhere. Case in point: I can't find them across 3 neighboring states! I am particularly interested in picking up an OESO, since (to your point about 4R barrel proof) I have an OESO pick I've been enjoying that's a mere 102 proof, one of the lowest I've seen! I think it would be fascinating to try one of these 100 proof OESOs against it.
Good to know, and thanks for the input. Comments like yours help me decide which videos I should do next. That would be a cool side by side taste test. Fun to see if there is a big difference in taste, and is it worth the price difference between the bottles. I hope I can find the OESO soon. Cheers
I see an Erie 2-10-0 lurking in the background. A man of true culture. What's the story with that old timer? Do you have a layout? Apologies for asking as you may have mentioned this in a previous video. Also, a rather nice start to 2025 acquistions!
It is! The bottle head is of Justice Louis D. Brandeis, and the train is a call out to his most famous decision, Erie Railroad v. Tompkins, which declared there is no Federal common law. Pretty nerdy, but I love it.
Virginia is an ABC control state and they drop allocated bottles about once a week in stores on random days and at random times. I got luck with grabbing it in the last drop. Cheers
Virginia is a control states so all bottles are sold at MSRP. They drop allocated bottles at random times and dates, and I just got lucky with a drop. Its a great bottle and hope it becomes easier to find one day. Cheers
Awesome, congratulations! By the way, I'd just say that doing a review video of the new line of Four Roses, even if it's a few months down the road, won't be less relevant because, in part, new releases don't hit all areas at the same time (or aren't available to most folks, even if they've technically been "released" in their areas), so I don't think putting out videos immediately/right away automatically will mean you shouldn't do one. Just my 3 cents!
Going to assume your Rare Character pick is gone with the low yield, but I’ll be at National Harbor this weekend so is there something else at Esquire I should be in the lookout for? Picked up Stagg 24d last night at abc drop great bottle at retail, better than 24a in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
Sadly all the picks I've helped on (Rare Character and ECBP) are sold out. We have some other picks in the works but they aren't in yet. They do have some other picks I wasn't apart of that are available to try (Knob Creek, Angel's Envy, etc), and some semi-allocated bottles (OGD 16 year, Knob Creek 18, Four Roses OESK 100 proof, New Penelope Wheat, 1792 single barrel).
Thanks for putting your purchases to my points at Esquire today! Appreciate it. If you are ever in the area again, let me know. Love to sync up. Cheers
Good question! With the channel, I review and share honest opinions about different bottles. Sometimes, that means buying things I may not end up liking so I can provide my audience with a well-rounded perspective. It’s all part of the process, and I won't really know without trying it. It could end up doing really well, or surprise in blinds. The purchasing decision would be a different calculus without the channel. Cheers.
@@TruthOverLiesNot really. He just said he doesn’t like ryes or eht and that he’s scared to open it… so why even buy it. Not sure why you are trying to be a knight in shining armor to a bourbon TH-camr either lol

Tonight i went for eggs and milk. Stopped into the liquor store in the grocery store, and BOOM Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2024.
Congrats on the snag. Cheers!
Just came across your channel. I learned a lot, great succinct delivery with helpful tips. Well done!

Thanks for sharing the bottle. Thought about stopping by BK, but didn't need another Weller FP. I'd be down to shoot a hunting video, let me know
@BourbonRetriever will do!
Congratulations on the pickups!

The Stagg 24 D is excellent.
Great to know! so excited to open it after the end of January
What a haul!!! That's a ton of wonderful whiskeys. Must be nice~
It was a great couple of months. Very fortunate

I never noticed how similar the Penelope label layout is to BTAC. Great callout.
Thanks, hope more brands go with the simpler design too
The rare character pick from Angel's share is absolutely amazing!!!!!!Enjoy

Where you find the Stagg?? I'm in P.G. county
At the Virginia ABC. They drop at random times and days though

@ ahh gotcha , in va as well but never see them .

@@BourbonRetriever very unassuming store. Loved talking to the guy in the store he was very knowledgeable.

That EHT BP Rye is not very good
Tough to hear. But sounds like the consensus opinion.
If you dont really like ryes or the EH taylor line then why buy it and take away from somebody else?
