- Departure to Sol - the new hyperspace. It looks so great now and I really really appreciate the new visuals and audio effects. The graphics looks more balanced too and contrast really pops up.

Imagine the memories this kid will have in 30 years. Growing up behind her dad as he flies starships all over the multiverse of Sci Fi. Getting to fly them herself once she's old enough, with her dad teaching her how. It's nerd paradise in the most awesome way possible.

In elite dangerous the game he is playing, if you equip your ship with a fuel scoop you are suppose to fly close to certain stars to collect fuel to keep doing jump drives like that

Once you have seen 4K, other lower res than 4K would really looks blurred. Now I can't help but always noticed the blurry anti-alias on 1080p ever since I saw the 4K TV sharpness.
They got phones better than 1080 in 120hz
Who needs VR when you can actually fly a space ship with your family.
VR is WAY more immersive than this AND cheaper.
Only with VR you get this realistic sense of scale, because of the stereoscopic 3D view and the feeling of being "there".
In VR you see everything in life size with realistic depth.
No monitor, TV or beamer is able to do the same as a VR headset.
Of course it´s great that he has fun and lives his dream. I don´t want to say his setup is bad.
But if you really want to feel like a space pilot and have the full immersion VR is the way to go.
@@DonicMusik VR is not for everyone though. Makes me feel dizzy, and nauseous.
I've done VR and after a while, it is annoying. The only things that it is good for is driving cars on roads where 3-D vision is required to negotiate turns, keep from running into things and getting motion sickness. While fun at first, it soon lost it's novelty.

I own and play in VR since 4 years and played over 2500 hours since.
And still everytime I put up the headset I am amazed by this tech.
I know many others who also enjoy it that much.

Try out VR and you can have exactly this for 299$ (oculus quest 2) and don’t have to convince your wife as much :D

Commenting 5 years later, but I'm really jealous. That's a sweet cockpit setup! I tried playing the game in VR with throttle and stick, but there's just not enough buttons of the HOTAS to map all the essentials and needless to say trying to use a keyboard when you're wearing a HMD is a exercise in futility. This looks like the perfect middle ground cause you can still use the keyboard while having close to VR levels of immersion. I'd love to see an update if you have changed things over the years, not to mention how you have it set up with the tablet and such. I was using an Elgato streamdeck in the same way as you are using a tablet, but I like the way a tablet works better actually. AAH You're making my money burn a hole in my pocket! Cheers CMDR!
cheers :) I've now upgraded to 120Hz projectors and I've started running it in 8K 3D which is quite an experience. Good the new cards can keep up with the demand on processing power

Kids pretty clearly asking for eye-contact, attention and conversation and isn't getting any. She's trying to bond with him, and he's playing a videogame. She should be sat up front with him in mini-tandem, so they can talk about what's happening together and share the experience otherwise its all for him. She's even trying to take an interest in what he's doing - remarking and engaging with it - and she's still being mostly blanked as far as she's concerned by him.
I'm pretty sure that they ment to hit the like buttom but hit the dislike button by mistake without realizing it.

Spinning chair will be all fun in the beginning, after sometime you will turn it off, mainly when you feel you can't play anymore after lunch or dinner or any heavier food (for obvious reasons). It will get boring fast.

For this much immersion, wouldn't VR have been cheaper? Yes. But then you can't have friends immersed with you, nor can you use an ipad for supplementary information

Походу он ещё сделал себе кобину с полусферой в переди, а на проектор скорее всего поставил специальную линзу, что бы изображение не вылазило за границы полусферы! Ну... На крайний случай можно купить себе VR и органы управления как у этого мужика. Правда... Долго играть в VR не получится и вредно! А мужик мог бы себе ещё прикупить движущееся кресло для большего погружения! Всё ровно мужик красавчик! Спасибо за идею!

yep, agree. Good balance is everything. But you know - there are days (or months) when our government here decided to make a prison out of our homes, sometimes it rains or it's not that great to be outside and I consider this better way of spending time with family than watching corporate or government broadcasts. There is lot more stuff we do but I don't think everything needs to be on the internet ;) - this is great fun for everyone though
