M/S of Prince Edward's first public duty when he was 18 in 1914. Various shots of the young prince as he lays the foundation stone for St. Anselm's church at Kennington Cross. He reads a speech, the narrator makes prediction that he will follow in his late father's footsteps!

Interesting to compare this to King Edward the Last, an alternate history novel that tells what might have happened had Edward not abdicated. There’s a video for it on TH-cam.
The 'poignancy' cited in the film is even more evident as we watch it knowing that King Edward did not follow in his father's illustrious footsteps, as the narrator predicts, but instead gave up the throne after less than a year.
