    Interesting to compare this to King Edward the Last, an alternate history novel that tells what might have happened had Edward not abdicated. There’s a video for it on TH-cam.

    The 'poignancy' cited in the film is even more evident as we watch it knowing that King Edward did not follow in his father's illustrious footsteps, as the narrator predicts, but instead gave up the throne after less than a year.
