Barry...FFS!!! put your bloody harness on!!!...Love you brother, safe sailing. If you want to see amazing sunsets, come to Darwin, i'll shout you a beer or two...
What I've learned from watching many sailing channels (and you are one of my fav's!), is that, even in modern times, solo sailing is just the struggle not to die. It's wonderful to see true adventure still alive in these times, keep it up and thank you for the content!
Barry as a fellow in your age bracket I am in awe of you physical capabilities as you single hand your way around the world. I love your videos and your music. Sail on good man, sail on!
Harness, harness, harness. I've been overboard solo sailing way out to sea, no fun. I've also been on the phone getting a positively fine weather report, on darkness, all sails up and noticed a change, hung up and it hit 69 knots within a minute. Look after yourself. Love your work.
I just finished catching up to this latest episode after months of binge watching the older ones. Brilliant channel and thanks for taking us along on your adventures.

Well done. The inevitable periodic moments of despair translate well. Kudos to you for pressing on and not finding yourself a flat w/ a couch. You’re an inspiration
Missionary stew. I sure that the locals enjoyed it, very gray for a tropical area, not much good if you're relying on renewable energy, i have to switch everything off for days , renewable energies are hopeless at times.
Well done getting through that gale. I was knocked down in F9/10 last year, so know what its like, no time to feel scared trying to react and get the situation under control when you are solo, it's afterwards when you realise how close you came to disaster, with the relief of being safe and the lessons to take away. Stay safe mate, peace and fair winds.
What a great idea for a video channel! I turn 70 in a few months and I can't imagine a better project to launch into. I gotta get a boat first though. 😂
My very first entry in my personal log is a force 9 while doing my competent crew course! I loved it….but then a force 9 in the Solent with a highly competent skipper instructing is very different to being in the open ocean on your own. Kudos to you Barry. I look forward to experiencing it myself…..Kind of. ❤
@@AdventuresofanoldSeadog You're a legend. A real inspiration. I've had a week off and been binge watching your old episodes. Love them. Don't give up! Gods speed Barry. 👍✌️🙏
The clams are pipies and best not eaten straight away as they need at least 45 minutes soaking in saltwater off the bottom so they can spit sand out, awesome in pipi spaghetti.
Only the good die young Barry ... You have nothing to worry about, you'll live for ever!! 😂😂 Seriously .. How do you do it? ... Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
You've a talent to get yourself into hairy situations. But if the universe decides it's your time to go may it be quick, painless and at sea. God bless you on all of your journeys.
What A Great Experience And You Stood Tall And Made It Through, What A Great Guy You Are With Shady And Many More Adventures, Don't Give Up And Keep On Sailing Old Sea Dog Who is Young At Heart, Wendy
Take good care chief.....These are a part of the lifestyle.....just so glad you lived through it to share your tale....until the next story.....plz keep safe.....
I never miss your videos ! Thanks for making the world relax and appreciate that there is a life outside the "centralised and compartmentalised economy". Sorry I live in Australia and we have not money lefts after the rent power fuel taxes and food.
You continue to tell a great story Barrie. The island Tanna captured it all….the Dream. I understand why you would want to spend so much time in those islands. Then there is the drama of your ship on her side. Scary stuff….but if anything brings you alive, it would be that! However, the tiredness must be unbearable. Stay safe. ⛵️
I don't know anything about sailing, but I really am starting to question Barry's capabilities. He always seems to be in a bind of some kind and unable to move the boat! Still, I watch every video. Good luck Barry!
@@michaelbaxter129yes, I got hooked to. Even watched from Europe where the Shaddow wasmso slow but safe. And thats important. Envy Barry a little. What adventures!
At Frazer Island (the largest sand island in the world) in Queensland there are several large freshwater lakes in the sand near the ocean. But then sand does make a great filter medium, ie. Swimming pool filters! Great video captain. G'day from Tasmania 33 degrees south
Ya Barry, all the reading I'd ever done made me think wind slowly picks up so you reef 1 then 2 then 3 or trysail whtever you rig. Thats just not it. It goes from 10 to 40+ quick no time for slowly meandering just grit and get er done. So when i see it coming i start at reef 2 and if it scares me time for 3. Id like a trysail and storm jib. That insignificant feeling of powerlessness so humbling Glad you got it under controll and kept the heavy side down.
@5:40 That looks like Bougainvillea. You get lost there Barry, you will never be found...you become pig food! 😂 So glad to see you won that bout with Mother Nature... Shaddy wins again! Stay safe Barry!
My life depends gps, so I'd use shoddy exposed connectors. 😭🤣You having a laugh.... Some sub went down had a bathroom handle inside shoddy. 🤣Lots of berks out there
Famous last words. I should have reefed earlier. Can you set up system where you can reef the mainsail from inside the cockpit ? Being at the mast, with no tether, in 50 plus knots, with the boat on its side, in raging seas, does not seem safe. Scary me....
I’ve just started my own solo journey at 58 yo, and seeing how you do it is inspiring. Keep up the great vids. Ian
