My all time favorite song, and my all time favorite version. Theres another one fron Berlin '71, and Childs in Time was 20 minutes long there. But This is the greatest jam, for me. The kings of improvisation - Deep Purple
This video should be recognised for what it is. A top rendition of one of the best songs, from the best line up, of one of the best rock bands of all time. All playing/singing at the very top of their respective games. No egos. No silly conflicts. No later "soul music/shoe shine" influences. Just sheer brilliant heavy rock music. Oh - to have been in the audience. Never mind lame applause. Some sort of bowing down was appropriate, people.
good to hear that also younger people don't ignore real good & fair music - although 40 years ago ... ! while you're just discovering that music, we, the elder ones, today are mourning about the passing of Jon Lord ... who might & will rest in peace Jon was the congenial partner and pioneer of another crazy musician, Richie Blackmore, who - as a duett - were creating a new era of give-and-take with keyboard and guitar - still unique ! Thanks to all of you Ralph - Munich / Germany
It's time begin calling them Mark 2. These five were quite simply the greatest group of pure rock musicians ever. With this album they created their OWN GENRE of which only they ever played. Because of their break-up they are both the greatest and saddest story in rock music.
Great version of Child in Time...I think the Gods had especially blessed them in this year. Some great performances! I think this is my favorite version of this song, just as the favorite version of Highway Star was in this series, also. This is hard to beat. Each musician was allowed to stretch some and stretch they did. Love it!
Can you just imagine being there?????? Unreal! Can you imagine being any one of Purple and belting it out (and every other song) as if your life depended upon it...........because it did! This is one of my top 5 all time songs - if not #1. Great band - brilliant unique music!
I was just 15 years old in 1972, I saw Deep Purple in concert at Winterland in San Francisco. My ears are still ringing from that concert. They of course put on a hell of a show but it was also the loudest concert I have ever been to.
Never bored to listen to this song. It"s like a classical music. It's one of the best songs in rock music to me. When I'm dying and I'm asked to hear a song I would chose this song.
I have every album from Shades of DP to Perfect Strangers. And I think this number of Child In time is the best song of all. GREAT;-) Thanks for You Tube..
Gillan - what a voice! He, Ozzy and Robert Plant - the immortal triumvirate of rock vocalists. never to be beaten. of their time and all copyists since mere shadows.
my first best guitar solo which touched me deeply in my heart... you guys were such a turn on in my life....Jimmie came later ...Carlos the same time...the music was so good from everywhere...
This is the great thing about our current times. I can see and hear the concerts I went to but was so f*ck*d up I only remember pieces. Thanks for the great music, keep it coming.
Antigone Project..just now,09.02.2018.,22h15m have 57 dislikes.???...they have chosen to watch, I do not understand.?!. God gave no bread to them..God gave no bread to them...God gave no bread to them
there's never been a song before, or since this song, so ahead of its time its still untouched by new music anyone agree with me? soooo awesome!!! xD xxx
=O it's the first time i watch this performance and i have no words to describe it, and it's the 3rd time it happens to me with DP. God, i love this band, thank you for their existance!!
Those kind of performance don't happen anymore......it's a shame.Blackmore is just amazing and Gillan is simply.....I don't think there's a word to describe his voice.
I love that every time they play it, it's a bit different, you'll always have high expectatives of Child in Time... With all the 5 musicians like very Rock Gods and Legends... They'll live forever!
this song and its unique solo are so much an inspiration that i'm going to learn to play guitar, only because of it... and this is my milionth time to listen to this tune... never get bored
Deep Purple at his best, damn wish i was young in the 70ties, this era sucks. What do we have now, Fall Out Boy My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco ect...ect.. They cal themself real rockers, but they should take a look at this, this is the real work. No one can't beat the master, Deep Purple yeah \M/.
The problem is that younger people listen often music they hear at the radio, I'm pretty sure a lot of them don't even know that these bands exist. That's why I feel lucky to have a dad who listen to music like pink floyd, led zep, deep purple... Even if it is not always easy to listen to the same music as your dad! :)
They don't make music like this anymore. I was at one of their concerts in the early 70's and they blew me away. Ian Gillan has THE best rock voice BAR NONE!
this is just awesome... this band is so awesome, Ian Gillan is (or was than) the greatest singer in the world. I totally love it, thanks for sharing this. If I had a time machine I knew where to go.. :) cause I'm just 14 years old..
My favorite song of all times. I have all the versions played live through the years and this perfomance is simply incredible! But i like better the one with Royal Philarmonic Orchestra in 1969 for that great Ritchie's solo.
Yeeah, one of the best songs I've ever heard with only Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin actually able to compare with this great band. One of the best songs ever!!!
I saw this tour at The Warehouse in New Orleans, they were promoting the In Rock album. Rod Stewart opened for DP. DP opened the show with Speed King, and closed with Child In Time. None who attended the show have been the same since.
je l'ai écouté 1000 fois au début des années 70, c'était cultissime, et 40 ans après on découvre les images noir et blanc, fabuleux
RIP Jon Lord. Mr. Keyboard has gone but his Music remains forever.
absolut megageil. Was habe ich für ein Glück, vor 35 Jahren Deep Purple live zu sehen...... Herrlich
My all time favorite song, and my all time favorite version.
Theres another one fron Berlin '71, and Childs in Time was 20 minutes long there.
But This is the greatest jam, for me. The kings of improvisation - Deep Purple
Never knew Deep Purple was this awesome, now I got a whole new respect and like for them.
This video should be recognised for what it is.

Some sort of bowing down was appropriate, people.
Absolute complete and utter genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How people can listen to pop when music like this exists is beyond me!
good to hear that also younger people don't ignore real good & fair music - although 40 years ago ... !

Does any one else think the organ is the most underrated instrument ever? I just love the way it sounds
I agree...
I listen to this song every day...
I love Deep Purple, truly gods among men.
It's time begin calling them Mark 2. These five were quite simply the greatest group of pure rock musicians ever. With this album they created their OWN GENRE of which only they ever played. Because of their break-up they are both the greatest and saddest story in rock music.
Deep Purple, Ian is something else, this song in concert, unbelievable, haunting!
Still a Fan!
Pamela
this is the perfect live Performance and the best occupied of the Band
Эту версию я еще не видела! ФАНТАСТИКА!Они просто потрясающие! MARK2 FOREVER!!!!
Greatest 16 minutes of my life!
The best Rock band that has ever walked the earth. As simple as that.
Great version of Child in Time...I think the Gods had especially blessed them in this year. Some great performances! I think this is my favorite version of this song, just as the favorite version of Highway Star was in this series, also. This is hard to beat. Each musician was allowed to stretch some and stretch they did. Love it!

una delle più belle canzoni di sempre. sono stato fortunato a vedere i deep, ma non a sentire dal vivo questa meraviglia
Real music(ians). My first double ('golden') album. A treasure, thanks!
I was just 15 years old in 1972, I saw Deep Purple in concert at Winterland in San Francisco. My ears are still ringing from that concert. They of course put on a hell of a show but it was also the loudest concert I have ever been to.
that time gillan looked and sounded perfect, the best of them all !
Ian Gillan is criminally overlooked by critics as one of the best singers of all time, period.
IMO, this is the best song ever written along with Shine on you crazy diamond.
These songs will live forever!!!
Gillan - what a voice! He, Ozzy and Robert Plant - the immortal triumvirate of rock vocalists. never to be beaten. of their time and all copyists since mere shadows.
Ian Gillian's vocals are amazing! Deep Purple MK2 rocked!
my first best guitar solo which touched me deeply in my heart... you guys were such a turn on in my life....Jimmie came later ...Carlos the same time...the music was so good from everywhere...
one of my favorite songs by Deep Purple! Excellent!
This is the great thing about our current times. I can see and hear the concerts I went to but was so f*ck*d up I only remember pieces. Thanks for the great music, keep it coming.

It's amazing. The sound recording was really good 45 years ago. Whoever the sound engineer was, he was brilliant.
Why are there very few bands this good these days----And yes I am a young dude
great band, they have talent and an abstract sight of music which you can see on their improvisation
