I'm glad mage is getting additional support spells to truly make it worth considering over Sorcerer. Once you became rich and were able to stockpile healing items in DD1/DA, Sorcerer simply superceded mage. Non-healing support such as Palladium, Quickspell and Celerity make mages endgame career look much more promising in DD2.
Only prob with the mage is that it only has 4 weapon skills slots. Thats going to be a challenge to work around, will need to be very strategic with which ones you choose.
@@Gaming_Analytic - I'd be quite happy with a pawn that had supportive spells only and just used basic attacks while making the rest of the party into invulnerable monsters.
DD1 had some top notch item design (no, not silk lingerie, stop thinking about it :D) but this time it's even more refined! Tis rare these days to see such quality, this game will be a real treat for the soul
@@Verbose_Mode Even better version of mystic knight honestly, it really feels like you can go full paladin. Inherent healing from mage plus options for support spells, fighter moveset, and I’m personally thinking trickster as the third to draw enemy agro and for the pawn damage buff
So much information, QoL changes I am noticing and that you are gathering from different sources, verily appreciated! I especially like how Anodyne is simply HA for Mage, effectively 5 spells rather than the 4 I was worried about, and the R1 space being dedicated to Vocation specific abilities makes good use imho.
I just got done with a Mage/Sorceror run in DD1 for the first time and looking at this, I think it's awesome that Focused Bolt seems to be more unique for each elemental attack. No more using Holy Focused Bolt on repeat (I assume). I love the flamethrower.
I wonder if the fixed Levitate on pawns, many players avoided this skill because it messed up their ai. They would just stupidly hover over the ground until they got smacked by a skillhot, instead of just running away. I hope we will be able to unlearn particular advanced and core skills (even though chances are slim)
I F%$&ing hope so, its been 12 years, surely the Pawn AI is leaps and bounds better than the 1st game. Skill swapping, I dont know man, what you've suggested would make sense from a practical point of view (considering that you also only have 1 save file)... sometimes making sense isn't good enough...lol
The new Mage armor looks great. I only wish we also had the ability to wield a tome as a weapon in alternative to the staff. Just to add some more variation
Its a bit of a bummer that we are only getting 10 vocations and that it runs at 30fps on consoles. But we need to be realistic about what is doable from a technical point of view.
Hi, Of'course Magic Spear looks awesome, but I am trying to see if there is a build that allows one to better use the Shield AND be a Mage. I see a couple skills under Fighter that can help control the Shield, but as soon as I try using magic, I seem to have to switch weapons to the staff. But, who knows. I heard one guy mention moving small objects around with telekinesis. Maybe I can get a shield to fly around with that. I do not know.
Well the mage sure has always been the flashiest of classes in Dragon's Dogma. Few games with more impressive magic systems than those of DD. Though I do think mages will suffer the most due to the reduction of avilable skills from 6 to 4, but I suppose giving the healing spell as a heavy attack action is making it like we have five in a way. We'll see how it plays out. Do you think we're getting a demo, and if so then when?
Due to the restricted skills, you'll probably have to be very intentional with your build, which makes is likely yo make the mage allot less flexible than it was before (and my favorite part of playing a spellcaster in general). I've heard the demo murmurs, but nothing from official channels as of yet. DD1's demo came out a month before launch (demo = 24 April 2012 vs DD1 = 22 May 2012). If its going to happen... it needs to happen very soon!
Fighter or support mage main pawn… does your pawn ever cast levitate on your Arisen? If so does it help or hinder? Could be cool but could be a nightmare haha
In the first game is was mainly a role filled by a pawn which many people would hire for their heals and augmenting spells. At least it seems like they have improved the combat a bit as starting as a mage was super slow in my opinion.
I wonder if there is a way to increase the duration of levitate? Or if spells are upgradeable without having to get the high version? I would be new to dragons dogma once the game releases
Do we know yet if we'll be able to switch skills on the fly :3c? Being unable to assign as many skills at once as the first game is a huge bummer (especially so for mage and sorcerer) but I won't mind it as much if we can switch skills around out of combat without having to go to a vocation master
Hmm, Comestion now forms a line from the spellcaster? That's not as effective against groups of enemies, a lot of fire wasted. I like the new spell's effects but too many of them come from the direction of the spellcaster, I would like them to come from unusual angles to strike tactically as in DD1.
Inner geek doing a swoop by (swooping is bad any geek know who said that and the game that came from???) Soooo cant wait to play this vocation (my1st play through)
@@kicktheajummasface9200 Standing safely behind your party while watching them engage with the monster is boring and don't require tactics. We'll see how it goes though.

Looking forward to seeing all the different designs for staves and archistaves. The torch looking one in the video is already awesome

The adventure is almost here, I can't wait!!
The mage might be fun as a warfarer to heal yourself. I hope weapon buffs can stay when switching because then mage might be good for a solo warfarer.
Mystick Knight is still possible, if so!

Cheers Mate, thanks for all the engagement.
Thanks to you, you rock buddy. I love these vids!
A mage melina looking like pawn from elden ring is my companion for the maidenless me.
Mage and Sorcerer will be so cool. Also now we can equip heavy armor. We can build Tank mages!
Introducing the 'The Magick Battle Tank' !!! :p
Looking forward to that.
Mage seems far more stronger than in the first game even the augments are better might be a must have for main pawn
Better options, but also the number of vocation skills have been decreased. Will have to see how this affects balancing.
Love the videos man, keep them coming. We're getting close!
Appreciate the feedback brother! Not long now...!!!
Mages were severely underrated in DD1. I can't wait to see them shine even brighter in DD2!

Warfarer will make most classes really good to play, being able to mix them together is such a nice touch
Agreed!
Melee will be my primary focus in the 1st playthrough and you're right, we're almost there.
Not going to get much sleep 22 and 23 March :p

Seeing magic Archer have a skill to revive pawns..hope mage does it as well
And we are officially in the dragon's dogma month :D
Couple more weeks and we are in the thick of things. Finally, feels like we've been waiting forever!
Really looking forward to seeing all the different staves. I hope we get a good selection
And you know I'll be ranking them :)

Excited AF for DD2. Loved DDDR. Been waiting for this game a long time now.
We've only had to wait 12 years... Almost like Bethesda's franchise release cadence. Lol
Would be nice to have a mount in the game though :-) like a griffin😂
Omg... Someone please mod this in!!!
Excited for this game. Glad the preview impressions were positive.

Ah man this is so hard. I want to play everything. 😂 Mage looks fun, fighter looks fun, Theif looks fun. Its gonna be hard to decide man.
Ill probably end up playing all of the vocations :P

Two worlds 2 has one of the best magic systems i have played, its completely customizeable
I don't dislike magic but rarely focus only on that.
Really hoping to see grapnel return, just so usefull lol. Like the structure of these guides, easily digestable.

Arisen, wolves hunt in packs!
For now, I'm thinking to choose the Mage vocation for my main pawn but open for suggestions.

I dont like playing pure magic vocations but when i play with pawns i always have at least one mage pawn to heal and buff me.
Jip... Im not a huge fan of playing support based characters myself. Leave that to the pawns:)
Excited for the game!
Let's Go!
I used mage pawns quite a bit in dd1, never played one tho
I never really was a magic guy, but it looks too cool to not try it in dd2 can't wait to go for a warrior mage combo with my pawn
Need some magic in the mix:p
The pawn vocation
Need more earth based spells. I'm trying to emulate Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei in DD2.
Holy focused bolt barrage is a way to go brrrrrrr again? What do you think? :D I would be surprised if the thing is still as OP as it was
For as long as you have ammo in the tank (Stamina).. hell yes I do! But certainly nerfed from the OG.
South African? Nice! Subbed
Baie Dankie Meneer ;)
I need my Gicel.
gotta have a cute mage healer, mommy heal my wounds
I wonder if levitating has a actual use in combat.
Maybe to get out of a surface based AoE...?
I’m going mage into trickster. Fighter pawn to take agro
Same!!!
Bro looked at the spreadsheet

lol I thought for sure you would know this line!! BTW what's your 1st play through going to be? @@Gaming_Analytic
Prolly wouldn't play mage. Sorc maybe, but mage was always kinda boring to me
What would you start as?
@@Gaming_Analytic Archer, i think. And maybe I'll even make my character look like Legolas
bleh another healbot
mage gameplay looking kinda slow & boring
Or measured and methodical...? Don't know, hopefully its still fun.
@@Gaming_Analytic enjoyed methodical combat like mhw cause you heavily engage with the monster even though i main bow. Guess we'll see
