It appears to me that these rankings are heavily weighted due to the hardware limitations of the industry at the time. I’ve never seen any rankings place FFXII number one. As soon as I saw the first four all ranked last I knew the only exceptions might be 13 and 15 but other than that these ranks would progress strictly by release in the series.

So well said right at the start: "the world of Dragon Age has always been a character in its own right." It's like what people say about Woody Allen movies- that NYC is basically a member of the cast. And NYC features like its own character in most movies that include it- even Batman that's only got a pretend-NYC. The new Bioware dev team didn't just reduce the character of DA to narrow corridors: they reduced it to an infant's playpen while ultimately literally destroying everywhere in Thedas the player has ever known, plus murdering in front of you one of the two big DA cities you only encounter in V-turd itself- not to mention lobotomizing numerous established characters and erasing the socio-political realities that added to the world's character. It's the opposite of a love letter to the setting: it's a middle finger to both the previous devs and the players who loved their work.

Not talking about "THAT" issues everyone has been talking about(sorry Room Elephant..), but my opinion on this game that was painful to play.Yes yes i played all other DA games, and 900+ hourd of DA:I online gameplay. Playing Veilguard was more than a chore than an adventure in a fantasy world, the combat was repetitive and boring, quest were bland, worlds were crafted for lineal progresion and lack of freedom, why build a cty if you cant roam it fully? And the most stupid dialog wheel ever, your conversation choices never matter since your character never has the last say, so the other characters will correct you, berate you, or ignore what you say, ex: -------- OPTION 1 ------- CHARACTER: "What do you think of these colos Rock?" ROCK: "They look Nice!" CHARACTER 1: "Yup, they are my favorite" *character liked this* -------- OPTION 2 ------- CHARACTER: "What do you think of these colos Rock?" ROCK: "Somewhat do not like them" CHARACTER: "Well, they are my favorite" *character disliked this* --------------------- This is the most annoying aspect in this game, you don't have options for rebuttal, put your foot down, or simply reject something.

I thought the more linear progression and more honed side-content was an improvement on 'fetch 10 ram meat' of Inquisition. As it stands, Veilguard is my new favourite of the series (previously it was DA2, though each game is excellent). On my 2nd playthrough which feels very different, blunt Dwarf Warden vs. sarcastic Elf Lord of Fortune.

The good: great hair physics! The bad: brainless combat + brainless "puzzles" + brainless busywork quests + lifeless world + restricted exploration + restricted "role-play" (you can choose between 3 types of "yes") + ignoring hundreds of past choices/lore points + embarrassingly bad dialogue (modern/quippy/preachy/condescending/therapy/HR) + obnoxious companions + cartoony character models + overall Disney/Marvel tone

Just to let people know Verve only adds +30 strength to your character. By mid to endgame you'll be around 500 to 1000 strength in all physical builds. Therefore the augment doesn't even give a 5% increase in most cases. Augments such as vigor, subtlety or gratification are generally better because they're adding onto things that can't be affected by gear that much outside of some rings, and we only get two slots for those so there's a need to be picky. As far as I know the only straight stat increase augments worth taking are the fighter and mage's lvl 2's as they enhance physical defence and magic defence by 30% respectively.

I have to disagree a bit about Plunder. My pawn often gets wakestone shards and ferry stones with it.

The weapon variety in this game really holds it back.

Honestly, I like how they improved Dragon's Bite in comparison to Dragon's Dogma 1, but I miss the selection of enchanted weapons in DD1. You could have a weapon with Fire, Frost, Lightning, Holy, Dark (Only for Daggers: Kunai) enchantments for almost every vocation.

This is a very odd list. Not even sure what “quality” means here. If you are new to CRPGs best to look elsewhere and get more opinions. As beloved as BG2 is, and I am ok with it at #1, in terms of sheer hours of content Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous should be higher, if not a contender for first place. It is so replayable with continuous added content from the developers even now, and each Mythic path is worth experiencing. But the most shocking is the placement of Planescape Torment; I am actually perplexed by how low it is.

I'm really excited for this game! Pre-ordered the Ultra version, and from everything I've seen so far, this is shaping up to be the game of the year. Granted, that's not saying much given the underwhelming releases we've had in 2024, but still - this one looks like it's going to deliver. I even upgraded my PC just to be ready for it, and I'm really hoping my friends pick it up too, especially since it has cross-play. Finally, we'll be able to squad up, even if we're on different platforms. Given Saber and Focus' track record, I'm hopeful they'll keep the content coming for years, just like they did with Snowrunner. That game started with just three maps and now has 14 additional ones, with even (at least) 2 more on the way! I don’t mind paying for DLC as long as the pricing is fair and the content is worth it - just no pay-to-win nonsense please. Can’t wait to dive into the grimdark universe again!
